I always forget so before I do again I'm pausing to say this. Thank you so, so much for your disclaimer every time about disabled people and these gadgets. I myself am disabled and seeing people mocking some of these things as being 'for lazy people' gets very demoralising when they're things I use or would love to have. It's so thoughtful of you and it helps keep comments like that to a minimum here on a channel I love so much. So thank you very very much for that.

Christopher, once we can have fun together with people who are handicapped the idea of Integration worked. My left hand father had a stroke that wrecked his brain centres for language, left arm and right leg movement. Additionally he was italian, that means genetically and notoriously impatient, nervous and the biggest smartass you can imagine. When he worked in the garden or his little workshop in the garage, even in the kitchen it was dangerous to stand near to him. His stroke and stubborness made it even worse. Anyway, every Christmas he was the one who started telling the horror stories when he fell from the ladder, trying to cut branches from our tree with an electrical chain saw. He laughed the loudest, when he told how I had to pull the nail out if his hand, after he tried to fix the roof insulation with the electric nail hammer. He made a mess in the cellar when he tried to cook Alderberry jam. It looked like he drowned in 70 litres of blood. Haaaah Haaah! Mom was so shocked because Dad was on Marcumar and Heparin and she thought he had internal bleedings. Muaaaahaha and she worked at the intensive care of an hospital, wasn't that funny? Yes, we made some respectless jokes, but never behind his back. Mom went crazy when dad invented the "nail fixed toast buttering area" on our kitchen table. She kept cool when the kitchen pan cought fire because my dad turned the gas up, not down. And yes, he had this salad cutter basket Barry showed, but he never used it. His most used citation was "Not a Handicappe make us da cripply, da headda maked us handicapped" (desperately trying to translate his bad germanoitalian verbal expression into "little ittaly eengleesh").

I myself am disabled and seeing people mocking some of these things as being 'for lazy people' gets very demoralising I agree- but a big part of the problem *IS* lazy people who will take advantage. I don't mean disabled people- I mean the truly lazy and entitled who are making others' lives hell in this way. I have my own share of problems, and when I finally break down and use an item for the disabled, I end up feeling guilty and conscientious about it. I'm also gluten intolerant- and feel like I'm a poser when I do have to mention that I can't eat bread with my meal (like say a sandwich place. While I'm up the creek, rest of the family isn't). I try to be as unobtrusive as possible about it, thanks to the faking posers. :( What a world we get to live in, huh.

Thanks for pointing out at the beginning that these gadgets can be helpful for people with disabilities. I always see people lampooning these things for showing how "lazy" people are, and forgetting that people with disabilities often have trouble with things that abled people find easy. Thanks for being a great ally.

I would definitely put that star trek badge on my middlefinger. It covers 3 fingers and lets you hold it in place with the other two fingers on either side of it.. If you look at how some professional cooks hold their fingers it makes sense. Also, i've never used the word finger this much before in my life.

Barry I'm wondering if perhaps after reaching the desired temperature if it would have worked better had you turned the gas down. those pizza stones really hold the heat and with the metal it must be way hotter in the actual oven than need be. did you happen to notice the temperature gage reading when you removed the pizza? even in a normal oven it's always best to turn pizzas half way to get a even brown (or in this case char hihi) maybe a revisit someday ?

@mrbarrylewis8 жыл бұрын
+Julia Miles I dunno maybe but it was right in the middle of the flame so should have cooked evenly
@BostonG8 жыл бұрын
When cooking a pizza on a flame like that 1. You need to pop the bubbles in the dough when they appear 2. You need to keep rotating the pizza. Unfortunately it doesn't look like it would be easy to do that with that gadget. Too bad, I had high hopes for it.

TouchlineFM they can't breath and have health issues because of it. I'd get another breed before I get a pug.
@Matt19matt198 жыл бұрын
TouchlineFM please dont get a pug.its a very irresponsible breed. pedigree breeds in general are more likely to have health issues however most traditional pedigree dogs were bred for work eg gun dogs, retrievers etc. the pug was purely bred for looks and to be a fashionable dog. their noses are very poorly developed and you can get many health issues.
@adammoorby998 жыл бұрын
Chelsea Peterson so i'd be wasting money?
@Matt19matt198 жыл бұрын
TouchlineFM not wasting your money no, but paying into the continuation of the breed. Also you are more likely to have to pay out in vets bills for a dog like a pug. Then there is the debate of the quality of life of an animal that cannot breathe properly. I realise that these are living, breathing animals i am talking about but but its an example of humans going to far in the persuit of creating fashionable dog breeds. Of course all breeds of dog from labradors to cocker spaniels have all been engineered by humans, however most breeds were bred to work rather than for looks. Just look at the shape of a pugs nose and then compare it to most other dogs. Its just not right.

The pizza cooked unevenly because you kept the door slightly open therefore the heat is trapped at the back causing it to burn. Also you need to dock the pizza to prevent huge bubbles from forming and if you see any bubbles you need to pop them right away. Another thing is that you have to turn the pizza half way and also not use to much flour only like a tablespoon.

Technically you have, burritos are a type of taco, just made with corn flour tortillas :p. If there are places selling hispanic food or if there's a hispanic aisle in your market check if they sell tortillas and you can make tacos out of almost every food (if it fits in a tortilla, IT IS A TACO :p). One quick and easy recipe if you find tortillas: buy a bit of seabass, or any type of filleted fish (no spines), shark is preferred but maybe they don't sell it where you live (in México we have controlled fisheries for sharks and other species, so it is ok), then cut strips of fish like 6 inches long and half an inch wide, salt them a bit and put them on the fridge while you prepare the batter. For the batter use a cup of corn flour, oregano, a bit of baking powder (royal), two or three pinches of salt, a bit of mustard and add a bit of water until the mix is homogeneous and looks like batter for hot cakes. You will dip the fish in that batter (you can also dip clean shrimps) and fry them on abundant hot oil for a few seconds on each side (basically deep fry them if you can). Your tortillas need to be heated on a clean skillet, enough to make them soft, first on one side, then the other, mix cream+mayonaise in equal parts and spread a bit on the tortilla, put the fried battered fish, squeeze a bit of lemon or of lime, add lettuce, diced onions and tomatoes. You can add more cream on top if you like it, it is best served with a hot sauce and voilá, fish tacos Ensenada style. If that's not your thing: carne asada tacos.... yummy! Or if you want a quesadilla just heat the tortillas as I told you to, then add a good amount of shredded cheese (monterrey jack, or gouda or any white cheese that can melt), add a bit of salt, fold the tortilla in half (the cheese will be inside) and return it to the hot skillet enough to melt the cheese, there! a quesadilla!

Seeing that finger guard reminded me of the chainmail gloves I got my wife for the mandolin (the handle was garbage). It was food-safe coated and thin metal links, so she lost very little movement.

My parents used to have one of those egg topper devices, if they still had it today it would be over 40 years old, I used it love it as a child. Just to make things more interesting they had a second one that was shaped like a chicken and used a horizontal guillotine; might try and find one to send you.
