I made my own on a whim today and it was super foamy coming out and hard to get into the glass. I didn't think about letting out the N2O and just pouring it out. That's soooo much smarter. Going to have to try again this weekend using your method.

I highly recommend brewing with cold brew, it would be a lot smoother.

JesusIsGOD thanks for your recommendation, but I prefer brighter coffee. The aeropress/Japanese ice coffee method is perfect for my taste. I am not a fan of cold brew.

Aren’t you supposed to pour through the spout after infusing with nitrogen?

I got the big isi nitro cold brew canister that is the whip creamer. I use isi N2 cartridges and it comes out insane.... cascades forever, foam for miles, that taste of creamy succulent-ness

Can you post measurements on coffee, water and the brew time in aeropress? Please?!
@downonluck597 жыл бұрын
Cody Chaplin for this video I just eyeballed the measurements. I typically weigh my coffee for pour-overs. My rule of thumb is to use .36oz of coffee per 6oz of water. For example 24oz pour-over would take 1.44oz of coffee grounds. For Japanese ice-style coffee (pouring hot coffee over ice) use half the amount of water and weigh out the rest of the water in ice to compensate.

How long does one N2O canister last? Just for one beverage or can you make 5, 10, etc off one canister? I'm trying to understand how expensive this diy process is vs. buying it for $2.50 at coffee shop.
@downonluck597 жыл бұрын
Jason Locey you can get a couple drinks off of one charge. I eject all the N2O then remove the cap and pour. I've never tried storing any in the fridge. I usually drink right away. Let me know how it keeps

Thanks for posting this, I've been experimenting with nitro cold brew at home and reached the same conclusion that I need to let off some of the pressure, but you took it a step further and released all of it so you could open the can and pour. I'll try that next time. How long did you let your cold brew steep? Does the Aeropress speed it up since you're partially brewing under pressure?
@downonluck598 жыл бұрын
Hi Franz, No problem, I love sharing the knowledge. I think I typically steep it for about two minutes. Then the actual pressing takes about 45 seconds. I let my body weight do the pressing and I grind for espresso.

N²O is Nitrous Oxide. It's completely different than straight nitrogen (nitro). The oxygen in the N²O will prematurely oxidize the liquid you use. Thus, giving it a stale flavor quicker.
@downonluck596 жыл бұрын
addamochs that’s why I add vanilla 😉
@bfree8276 жыл бұрын
So then why even bother with that extra step? The whole point of nitro coffee is to limit oxygen and thus limit the bitter stale taste
@downonluck596 жыл бұрын
Becky Freeman , which step are you referring to?
@kavinfoo2206 жыл бұрын
@@bfree827 there's also the benefit of a nice cascading effect and creamy mouthfeel, which is the main attraction of nitro coffee.
