Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying our hike. I always wanted to backpack but couldn't do much. I raised 8 children, worked full time and didn't have the time or money. When retired it was to care for my son who was drying of cancer. The next tens years I spent doing want my husband wanted. He loved to travel but not backpack. He passed away a year and a half ago after a 13 year battle with cancer. Now I have the time but sadly severe DDD, osteoarthritis and spinal stenosis have left me lucky if I can walk 100 feet. So my friend, I have walked the AT with you and the PCT and loved it. Thank you for taking this old lady along.

That was fun Dixie. Your editor must enjoy making these, as when, you were talking about the peace and quiet of the mornings and then swallow a bug, the music stops and you cough trying to clear your throat. He's great and so are you. Really enjoying following you along the trail. I see you in Tomas Man's videos too. He's a real determined soul too. Have good day tomorrow.

Cheer up, Dixie..you really have about 125 miles more to get our of the northern edge of the Sierra. Once you get through and past Burney Fallls, Susanville, and Lassen, enter into Modoc county, you will be officially in,the Siskiyou mountains, till you get up to Crater Lake,,on to the Cascades..that's the way us native Californians were taught..just love your videos, keep, your chin up and good attitude..sending you the best ..Frank T., ( California native)

Dixie, I met you at Burney Falls when I was dropping Naptime back for his through hike. I gave one of the guys you were with a mango. I had been watching your posts which made me feel better about his trip since I had no clue what he was seeing or doing. I want to thank you because your videos brought 'his world' into my comprehension. It also got me up on the AT to pass out trail magic.

Hi Dixie, Just wanted to say that I've been watching you since your ACT adventures. Love your channel! I've never commented here before. But, with your comment comparing your experience to child birth in this video; I just had one of those..."were all connected" moments. I'm currently 39 weeks pregnant, anticipating the arrival of our baby girl. Not able to do much (or go anywhere) bc just getting around the house is a workout. I rediscovered your channel just as my need for being outdoors has really kicked in. Not only have you've saved me from feeling claustrophobic, with your gorgeous shots and kick ass adventures. Its amazing to me that in this video of all (just as I'm within a week of delivering) you compared what your experiencing to child birth. I've been mentally preparing. I know this adventure were heading into will be like no other. So, for now I'll be embarking on the adventure of motherhood while preparing my hiker legs for some serious Backpacking and perhaps some thru hiking in my future. Thank you for being not just a great person to watch on KZbin. But, an amazing woman/hero to look up to. I hope I can be that great of example to my daughter. Cheers, Maya

Hey Dixie! Loving following your journey! You are kicking ass!!! Super proud of you girl. The purple flower is an Iris! It's called a Rocky Mountain Iris. Also...I get what your saying about not remembering the pain and only the good parts. I haven't done a thru-hike, but there's always some pain involved with backpacking and after the trip is over...I've usually already forgotten about that. Keep killing it!

I just started watching your videos about 2 weeks ago and noticed you wear your headphones in one ear. If you go to settings, general, accessible you can change audio to mono and volume to ear you're listening on so you get all the sounds from that side. You might know this but wanted to jump ahead in videos in case you don't! Thanks for the awesome information you're sharing!

This is my backyard playground; living in the Carson City area. It's fun to see familiar sights in your video. The wildflowers you walked through are in the Meiss Meadows area; one of my favorites. We were up there a couple of weeks ago for a quick overnighter. Beautiful area for snowshoeing/cross country skiing also. Love your videos. I will be having my son watch them; he's wanting to do the PCT next summer. You are now north of Burney Falls (according to another person's post). That means you're past the half way point. Congratulations. Safe hiking!

Hey Dixie you still have many miles of the Sierras. They are beautiful and enjoyable. Youll be able to use that tenkara rod as the truckee river has an abundant trout population and as you go further north there is the sacramento river to cast a line in. Good luck through the rest of the Sierras.

Gregg Christensen Yes, I agree......she's still in the Sierras, as the official end is at Fredonyer Pass, just southwest of Susanville. She has about 170 miles remaining of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. BTW....Fredonyer Pass is just past the halfway point of her thru-trek.

Karen W Nope, not out of the Sierras yet......not until Fredonyer Pass, about 170 miles north of Lake Tahoe, just southwest of Susanville. Could be that she's on the part of the PCT that veers to the west in order to avoid all the logging operations north of Fredonyer Pass.
