This world has become so crazy and angry that I really appreciate when people reach how with any little kindness and I always let them know what it meant. A dear friend of mine owned a restaurant and she and her sister own beautiful cabins now, and she is the *best* at hospitality. Friendly, warm, outgoing, always getting a drink in your hand and food in front of you and fun conversation. She works hard while still being fully present. Truly a skill and gift! Us introverts appreciate this so we don't have to entertain. 😄 I've learned a lot from her. ❤

Lauren, your home is always so warm and inviting. I love the joy you find in just the simple, everyday tasks that a wife and mom does to make their home a peaceful place for their family. This fills my cup as well.🥰 We actually now LIVE in the path of totality for the eclipse here in AR. We bought a 50 acre farm and are building our dream home while living in an RV with 3 kids.🤪😆 My family is here visiting to see the eclipse with us.💜 As far as an act of kindness..our new neighbor (she actually owned the land that we bought) is a really kind widow. This past winter we got an extremely deep freeze and experienced temperatures we were not at all prepared for..and neither was our RV. Everything froze up. No water. Couldn’t keep it warm. Awful. She invited us (rather insisted😆🙊) we come stay with her til things thawed out. We had the best time. She now loves our family and we love her too. We essentially gained another family member through a trial and kindness. It’s been a beautiful thing for our family.🥹🫶🏻

Concierge was amazing setting up a rental car, the best Luau, housekeeping was amazing, room service was amazing, they all attended to our every need immediately. Provided us as much bottled water as we needed. Every employee there were so kind and helpful. They even sent us deserts, champagne, and a beautiful Hawaiian floral bouquet for our anniversary. 10 days of watching beautiful sunsets from our requested upper floor suite. I think our parents raise us to the best of their ability and it’s up to us to continue on in the world being a living testament to the people they were. My own parents are in a shared grave a continent away but forever in my heart and mind.🦘🇦🇺

@@kayemcmullen I don’t know if it’s healthy or not according to doctors and such. I’ve had her ashes for over 20 years and I’m thinking I’m doing pretty well for myself. Do I miss her and my dad, yes, but I’m not maudlin about their passing. They’re gone and I’ve moved on with my life after taking care of them both for three years. My mom was a great kidder and so was my dad. Mom didn’t want to be buried right away, her words, so I can keep an eye on you and dad said he’d lived with her long enough and didn’t want her hanging out with him. Hence I have her ashes and don’t care what people think, my friends think it’s great and I’m not bothered either way. I could bury her tomorrow, so? They aren’t her, they’re just her ashes. 🤷🏼

I'm the office manager for a high-end dental practice. I say high-end because of the quality of service and we always great each patient that walks through the door, by their name. Even the new patients. We greet them by saying, "You must be... so nice to meet you!" Seeing a dentist is stressful enough. If we can make someone feel welcomed, it eases their minds.

Hi Lauren. You asked about the hospitality experience we never forgot. Back in the 90's my husband and I used to stay at a hotel in Clearwater Beach Florida, (unfortunately long gone now) once a year, for about 5 years. After the first time we were there, the pool bartender who had a great personality, not only welcomed us back, but remembered our names and what we liked to drink at the pool. He would take the time to ask us about what was new, and really made us feel like we were back to a second home. We never forgot him! I do love pink, LOL! But also, the blues and greens you love. The blue hydrangeas look great! 😊

I graduated from a small town and every early out there was this Chinese place that was kind of our hang out spot but for sure our favorite Chinese spot! For years after myself, husband and kiddos would go there often until we moved. It had been over a year before we got there again and once we sat down they came over to our table and handed me my sunglasses and a picture of my son we had left their the last time we visited. That was over 10 years ago now but still a favorite thought that pops up from time to time!

I'm in the SE part of Michigan so I will be able to go out with my son. We bought the glasses to watch the eclipse safely. My husband bought extras for some of his coworkers if they didn't have them. I'm hoping that the weather holds out for us. It so nice to hear of kind acts by others. I lost my mother n law 10 years ago and the 3 years later almost to the day I lost my mother. Both passed in December (both have birthdays in December) just days apart and from the same disease. My kids are no longer fans of Christmas time because of this. They are older (21 &17) but grandmas are the best. It's still heart breaking to not have my mom around but we celebrate and make things she loved. ❤

I totally agree. My mom was the only grandmother my kids had in their life. My husbands family has not been in our children's lives for over 8 years. We just have very different values. My mom was like 5 grandmas in 1 and the kids loved her so much. It will never be the same without her.

I taught all of my children to do the laundry 🧺🧺🧺🧺 themselves! They each have a laundry bag that was identifiable by there favorite color. Once they had a full bag they knew to pull it down stairs to the laundry 🧺 room! The older ones help the younger ones the older kids through the laundry bags over the banister . I don't know if I've ever commented on a video yet, but just wanted you to know, I look forward to every upload! :) On the hospitality topic, years ago, my husband and I got stranded in Santa Fe, NM due to our car breaking down on a cross-country move and it was super stressful. We ended up at a Hyatt hotel, and there were two ladies who worked there who were so kind and empathetic to our situation. We felt like they were like nice moms who felt bad for us poor kids, stranded there for a week. Haha. They drove us places in the shuttle, and just generally made us feel like they truly cared about us and our situation. It was so touching, and we really appreciated it!

I think hospitality is all about learning people as individuals and doing something that resonates with them individually. So for example, I had some hard ass professors during my English program in college. I was such an introvert, especially in the workshops where we had to read our stories aloud that were at times deeply personal. But I had a professor that changed my life. He told me that even flannery O’Connor wouldn’t read her work aloud in school and that if we couldn’t handle it, that we didn’t have to. He also would print out our stories and write us letters by hand or with a typewriter (old school). His letters were so uplifting and motivating. He understood us introverts and how terrifying it is to come to class every day and read our personal stories aloud. He just took time to get to know us.
@LaurenNicholsen10 ай бұрын
I love that. I am an extroverted introvert. At work my team always says I should say hi to our guests because I am the GM and it feels sooo uncomfortable for me. It makes me feel like I am inserting myself into their experience because of my job title when I am really just so excited to have them with us and I know they are having the best experience. I am shy for sure!
@faithrankin115510 ай бұрын
@@LaurenNicholsen I completely understand that! I work as a librarian in a college library and I have come a long way but am still introverted. I really make it a point to observe the students we assist and get to know them in a way that is comfortable for them. We have some regulars in the library that really don’t want to open up much, and I find that that’s okay. Making someone feel a sense of belonging is also recognizing that there are people that sometimes just want to be left alone. At the same time, we have some students that love to talk all about their classes and personal lives, and I’m happy to be someone they can talk to. Our directors always want us to greet every student that walks into our space. I’m happy to do that but definitely greet different students in different ways. Some of our regular students aren’t big talkers and I will just give them a simple wave and a smile. I’ve been thinking about sense of belonging and how this looks different for everyone.

Hi from Southern Oregon.....My Gramma in law recently passed away and we went to Yuba City, for the funeral. Several of us stayed in a VRBO for a few days. My husband and I were the first ones there and we were really touched to see a nice flower arrangement with along with a big gift basket filled with things for adults as well as the kids that would be staying. It had snacks, wine and age appropriate color books and things like that to keep the kids busy. What stood out to me was the very nice sympathy card from the owners. I also think that feeling welcome to a place of business is very nice- to be greeted however I think that, for me, I don't love to be overwhelmed by too much. We were just at restaurant where several staff were asking if we were okay and if we needed anything. I do appreciate that but it was wayyyy too often as we were trying to eat. Oh the popcorn. I can't say that I have tried that kind myself but having a big family, we sent 'family gifts' to each family for Christmas which was a microwave popcorn bowl along with popcorn and toppings- strait from Amazon. To my sister, I chose the Amish popcorn. I will have to ask how she liked it- it had a ton of great reviews. I am kinda new to your channel and lovin it!

Hi Lauren, I paused this videos to answer your question about Great hospitality. When we went to a winery this past year, it was a wine trail with different wineries along the trail, I understand that selling is on top their lists but the places impressed us the most was the staff that knew about their products and in a relaxed atmosphere is where we bought the most wines and products. I can remember we stopped at one winery it was a beautiful barn and they had retail things as you come in, a staff persons asked if we wanted a tasting we said not right now and she replied that is what we are here for so as a result we walked out. We go to high end resorts and pay a pretty penny but I expect the service, know our name treat us like we are the most important people that came through the door, have the concierge sit down with us and kind of plan our trip if we’re staying for a few days. I know so much about how to make people feel important, in my career I was one of the top sales people because I made everyone feel so important and valued.

Hi Lauren, I live near Montreal in Quebec / Canada and the eclipse is going to be here around 3 o'clock. I didn't found glasses so I will watch news channels but I will see the impacts outside from home.🇨🇦

In 2009 we had a vow renewal wedding at Caesars in Tahoe and from the moment we arrived, it was all about us, even the sign outside, Tv, reception room etc. Even for all our guests, commented on the personal touches for 3 days. It was awesome, was so disappointed when it was sold and turned into Mt Bleu. LOL I love just plain kindness to all. But knowing my name was awesome & personal for me. Where you dont feel like just another face in the crowd.

Hi Lauren, I m so happy you are feeling better about your home and your dining room table is back in your life. I agree I'm not a pink person as far as decor in my home. Even at Easter I use my green, blue, yellow white and lavender. I have a lot of gray in my home so I add a lot of blues, white, and yellow and green during spring and summer. You look so great and glowing again.
