This homeowner was shocked to find this tree, actually situated on council land, had broken at the base and fallen onto her lawn. There were strong winds a few days previously, which had resulted in this mess for the homeowner, but the tree was itself was quite old and probably on the way out anyway. Her options were to call the council and see if they would remove it, remove the tree completely from the property, or cut it up and leave it on site. She chose to go with option 3, which resulted in a good outcome for all parties involved.

FAQ's:
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in 4 years on the job.
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘🦘🦘.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: We use mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs!
Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin!
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of cans?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I'm not really sure to be honest, maybe something to do with space & maintenance, but either way, it really is poor heat efficiency!
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!

Tiring? Both my wife and myself, well into our 60's, maintain the two hundred or so trees on our property, resulting in jobs like this almost routine (at least two or three large fallen branches each year). Never found it overly difficult. We load the cut branches into a pickup truck to transport to the side of the road.

I think if you go around to some of the poorer areas or messier areas or a seniors home and do/video some driveways or sidewalks for them free, you'll get more views and more subscribers! It's to help those who can't afford it and to better the community. Thank you. Some channel owners (with lawn mowing videos and pressure washing videos) eventually had a Patreon page/link to help you towards paying for those people who needed pressure washing done but couldn't afford it. Each city and county are different.I live in a newer subdivision and we have the HOA ( Home Owners Association ).I don't think we are allowed to have trees or limbs piled up in a front or side yard.It's unsightly looking and snakes and critters get into them etc.I have had thin trees come down in my backyard which is all trees with leaves,no grass etc.My hubby worked on chopping them up thru the years and putting them in waste bins/containers that the city takes away.I had a tree company come cut down some of the thinner trees that the tops were touching my roof.

HOA's are the very reason I live so far out from the city. You pay a fee, sometimes an exorbitant one, to be told what you can and cannot do with your own property that you make payments on and pay taxes on even down to what color you can paint your house. No thanks!
@hattiem.7966
@hattiem.7966 2 жыл бұрын
@@richardcline1337 Our HOA fees are like $45 a month.They were $35 for some 25 years.We can paint our house any color I think but then we have red brick on the front and vinyl siding on the other 3 sides.We can't have a chain link fence or park a boat on the driveway or on the grass but there isn't much space between our houses either.A bldg company built our house 27 years ago and gave us a list of colors to chose from.We also have a community pool which we rarely use,it's only at 5 1/2 feet deep.

@@hattiem.7966 .. That's $540 a year. For what? Just to have someone else rule over you? What I do in my yard is my business. What the neighbors do in their yard is their business. We all get along because we've known each other for years. Wouldn't trade that for a swimming pool. By the way, our city picks up anything left beside the road each week - one truck for garbage and another for yard debris (or any large household furniture or similar trashed).

@@robinstewart6510 We are aware when we bought this house that it came with a HOA.I've heard plenty of HOA laws that are so stupid.One thing I do like is that you can't park a big RV or boat on your lot and the yards are pretty small anyway.

@@ianrutherford878 hooray, somebody actually agrees with me. That was in slightly accelerated speed and just looked like it was taking a bit of time. Plus I thought the bars were well used and the paint was pretty much all gone. I had thought that there had been a fair bit of heat on the bars to have got rid of the paint like that. Although, the chain being used looked like 1/4" or picco, on both the pole saw and the stihl. The stihl would have handled .325.chain easily. What do you think??

@@patrickhosking613 I'm a retired car mechanic and theatre tech. who met a Finnish woman who had some chain-saw education. So she taught me some rudimentary safety and maintenance .When we got our own place there was some felling we had done professionally then lots of big elm logs to turn to firewood and later a few smaller trees to fell or lop and her Dad bought us a mid-range Husqvarna. Maintaining ,sharpening and using that is about the limit of my experience.I was already past my prime and would only use the saw 'til I began to feel 'tired'--often just one tank of fuel per day then do all the other stuff.But I've watched enough pros in action to feel confident to 'judge' a dull or sharp saw. It sounds like you have far more detailed knowledge and experience. After I finally failed to service and repair the carb.( eye-sight declining) I let the saw gather dust and now use bowsaws but I don't let them rust or hit nails etc. and I buy new blades. For light work with such a fine cut they can be as quick as a chainsaw if you count in the maintenance, fuelling, sharpening, protective gear and so on and no fumes no noise and you'd have to work hard to amputate even just a finger.

If this was on council land and blown down into customers yard by a storm, it is council's responsibility and they should have come and removed it? It is council by-laws in every state of Australia that make them responsible for trees on council property, the same as you are responsible for trees on your land.

Don't know what Council land is, but that's a case of no one paying attention to an ailing tree.
