Looked like towards the end of your video you have an orange toy as well LOL. I sure enjoy the orange toy I have, sure makes chores quicker, easier, and less painful on the back. Your workbench build is great. I like how you made the table section for your miter saw fold down out of the way so you have a completely flat table top when you want it. Out of all the workbench videos I've seen I think yours should be the number one choice...I need to build something similar here soon when I get the floor in my shop done, and start putting the tools out there again. I don't have the Dewalt saw so the specs for the table would be different, but I like your design ideas...its not overly complicated to build, but its built heavy to stand up to years of use and abuse. You could easily build this with some drawers or cabinets for storing other tools....excellent build...and you got a new subscriber.

Oh yeah the orange toy......Can't live without it! One of the best purchases I have ever made! When I built the house 5yrs ago it was going to cost me 15k to get the yard graded and seeded. I sold my zero turn mower and use the 15k to buy the tractor. My dad and I put the yard in ourselves and I'm a happy tractor owner. I mow my grass with it and it takes awhile but I love mowing so no biggie :)

One thing I realized when doing this that I sure am glad I modified: Make the platform for the miter saw a little deeper so your hand has plenty of room to adjust the bevel for the miter saw. Other than that this was a super helpful video to not only help build this functional workbench, but also helped me learn a lot about woodworking. Thanks!

You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice kzbin.infoUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

Thanks and adding the storage drawers was a game changer for my tools! Take care!
@rickhayhoe Жыл бұрын
.@@HomeProHero -- Yes to drawers, definitely. And here's another one: you could add a 2 or 2-1/2 foot hinged fold-down extension to the table top in way of your miter saw's outfeed side. You could do that by using hinged arms notched to fit against a chock on the underside of the extension deck to lock it level with your bench top -- or the arms could swing out from under the deck when you pull it up, then they could notch against a chock mounted on the end of the bench. Either way you'd have to add some structure to the framing at that end, but it wouldn't require much.

Nice bench I’m going to bill one within the next two weeks. @kenwicks317910 күн бұрын
I love this video and have watched 1.0, 2.0 and 4.0. Since I will be using corded miter and table saw, the key thing in 3.0 was the switch to automatically turn on the vacuum when either saw is on. I saw an option for that on Amazon so I am good. I bought your Etsy plan that includes step by step for the bench plus the drawers. There appears to be a few small differences in the plan (compared to this video). I presume that is to account for the drawers and the vacuum system. I just want to make sure that the small changes allow from the plan allow me to drop the miter saw and to add the plywood above when the saw is dropped. Am I overcomplicating this? I have built the frame through Step 5. I have not bought a table saw yet! I am considering the 8-1/4” corded Dewalt - the price at Lowe’s is $299 less $15 with the credit card. To jump up to the 10” Dewalt is double, and SawStop CTS is triple. Frankly your confidence in using the smaller Dewalt is reinforcing my thoughts.
@HomeProHero10 күн бұрын
Follow the plans they are proven to work well with tons of reviews to support that statement. Even in the plans I mention they are slightly different than the video to optimize the bench. Remember the bench came first so mods were made to add the other features. Corded miter would be the way I would go if I needed one. That 8 1/4 table saw is plenty for anything I have done - I have done a ton. Make that corded too. Those are really the only tools that I think should be corded. Good luck!

Liking the build, the MDF on the top platform might give you a headache eventually. When I built mine, I did the same thing with the MDF. After some time, it'll get that fuzzy texture to it, which makes it impossible for a good cleanup after a project. I had to get a scrap piece of 1/8 " masonite and secure it to the MDF. It's so much better, if I had to do it again, I would use a piece of 3/4 AC plywood for the top. It's just as smooth, but definitely would not weather like the MDF. Again, love the build.

Thx for watching! Not a big fan of the mdf top of the bench. Plywood would likely be better but the mdf works and is cheaper. Use at least 2-3 inch bulky screws for the caster wheels. Had one come off because my screws were too small. Other than that I love it! The storage drawers are a must - really like those! Good luck

I had a few questions: - I noticed in your other videos that your miter saw is in the locked position. Do you find that you "hide it away" when you need to use the surface for outfeed or working on other things and keep the miter saw out most of the time? - Where do you keep your dust collector? You mentioned that you were going to add dust collection but it's not clear where it would go if the miter saw is in the stored position as there's not a ton of under bench space left.
@HomeProHero Жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly right on the miter. It's done at times when I need the table top for stuff or cutting a sheet of plywood. Pretty easy to just drop it out of the way. Dust collection is the next video out in a couple of weeks - you will have to watch it to see how I got it all to fit! Take care and thanks for watching

Out of curiosity, would you still recommend going with the 60v options rather than corded? Do the batteries hold up over time? I would probably use it like you do (at my house). Thanks for the video.
@HomeProHero27 күн бұрын
Good question. I would not go batteries on the miter and table saws especially after I built the workbench. Installed in the bench they are only mobile at my house which normally I have a power source nearby. And with the progression of larger battery packs, like the Anker I show in one video, I can simply use that battery if ever needed. The batteries last find and I don't notice a different in power compared to corded but I would go corded if I had a choice. Now all other tools battery for sure - tech is so good now in power tools.

Thank you very much! My channel was kinda all over the place in the beginning but I finally decided I wanted to focus just on DIY projects. Mainly because it's my favorite thing to do. Now that I have a niche the channel is starting to takeoff. Only been doing it for 14 months :). Have some great stuff coming up. Stay tuned thanks.

Nice vid and work bench. Exactly what I want to build for my garage but don’t have the room available for the depth. Do you see any issues making the bench narrower? I have the Dewalt 8-1/4 table saw and was planning on getting the Bosch articulating 10” mitre saw so I don’t need the clearance at the back for the rails, which allows me to use a narrower bench in place. Thanks!
@HomeProHero5 ай бұрын
Thx for watching! Yea you could more narrow but no more than the height of the bench because it might not be stable. I think u could go 36 wide. Take care

Now that you’ve used this a while how well of a tight fit is the miter saw latches still. Did they loosen up at all? Thanks and great bench

Thx for watching. Pretty tight still. Almost too tight on one side but still keeps the level across the saw. Take care

Hi. This is awesome!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to share the plans/build. I am stuck at 4:10 mark on video. I know you mentioned in comments that 2X4 is 28”. After looking at the plans is the measurement from front of bench (back side of you on that video )to the surface of 2x4 (palm of hand resting on 2x4) at 4:10 mark 13.5”?
@HomeProHero Жыл бұрын
Good question the drawings don't show that measure well! You are correct its 13.5" but it can be adjusted either way if needed. If adjusted several other measurements change. Thanks for watching! HPH

If you wanted to expand the bench to 4x6 vice your 3.5x6, do you think you would need more center support? I want to have a router table on the right side of my sawstop cts to use its rack and pinion fence for the router.
@HomeProHero7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! I don't think that would be an issue it over built a bit and really sturdy. Good luck with your project!

This is a fantastic work table! I'm always having to do work at my elderly parents home and my daughter's home. I could roll this into my enclosed motorcycle trailer . It would be easier. I might put bigger wheels on it for uneven surfaces.

Seeing that I have the exact same tools as you (DeWalt Table and Miter saw), this is exactly what I was looking for. I was trying to think of doing something like this, but couldn't wrap my brain on exactly how. I just stumbled on your video, not even a search. Thanks for showing this style workbench with no frills - no pocket holes, MDF top, standard lumber. I just wish materials were cheaper in Canada. This would cost around $4-500 Canadian. Nice build though, thanks a lot!

I took a quick look at the video but im at work and couldnt watch the full thing yet. Bench looks great!! I have a question, does the type/brand of table saw and miter saw matter? Or will i have to adjust the plan accordingly? Edit* I just completed my first project yesterday of building a patio set and realized the need to have a bench. I do not own a table saw yet, i just purchased a dewalt 12-inch miter saw.
@HomeProHero10 ай бұрын
Thx for watching. The platform on the workbench should fit most if not all 12 inch miter saws with no problem. The platform for the saw is 28"x18" so the legs on the saw should fit easily. Take csre

It's a nice little simple bench, Good job. The only recommendation I would've given or give to your viewers, (& pls no offence to your work). just an opinion! Just this tip would make it 10 times stronger and a little less bulky, would be to use Half-lap joints on your frame instead of simple butt joints. It would've given it a lot more strength. But aside of that. Its a nice little workbench. well designed for small spaces. Congratz!
@HomeProHero Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I totally agree with you on the lap joints but honestly the butt joints with screws and liquid nails do a great job! tried to keep the project quick and simple. Thx for the feedback

Great bench. Thanks. Subscribed. Simple straightforward One Q/point.. Mitre saw bench does not look very substantial. Can see those hinges working loose.. Hope I am wrong. Maybe put in a through rod and bearings? Thanks for the inspiration and plans.
@HomeProHero Жыл бұрын
Thx for the sub! It's really firm at this point. Not sloppy at all if anything maybe a little too tight. You could always use longer screws into the 2x4 but I thought if the hinge screws can support a door from the side they should be good enough for the saw. Take care!
