Just got my UC1 a buddy gifted me his. Im lovin it. The workflow is great. I get into the zone of mixing like on a console. I also have console 1 and the rocksolid audio control strip 2. The SSL UC1 is my top pick! The Knobs feel close to a console and the layout is like a SSL. I would sometimes miss spin knobs on the console 1 as they layout is a bit outdated and wonkie. The console 1 is still great but I think the SSL is the winner after much time mixing on the C1 and Rocksolid audio Control Strip 2. Thanks for the vid and getting me up to speed on the UC1. I guess by now you know you can adjust the out trim in the extended function menu. the really handy thing is you can select it and it'll follow you across all the tracks so you don't have to keep going into the menu. I've just been doing what your doing here with level matching , I kinda need that input to drive the compressor but tame it with the out trim instead of just the fader alone, so far so good! Also your intro music has the best low end, it's so nice.

The loss of the zoom feature is a huge issue for 360 users, that’s all that is talked about on the forums. SSL need to bring that feature back in a future update. It’s annoying to constantly have to scroll. Fortunately for me I rarely use 360 and use the UC1 for a hands on approach in Logic with my Qcon pro X. Together they are a magic combo. Now I have the controller I can see your point. the magnifying button is kinda like a spare wheel these days. however I don't think I'm running stuff at that high of a resolution and im able to get everything on screen. I do understand that it would be nice to see values to some people. obviously you can see them in the device but how about SSL let you press the Magnifying button and it shows an overlay of all the digital;l values in the 360 software

There’s a couple of things I’d like ssl to do, add a check box option in the 360 spftware to have a alternate shift mode for the fine control. I never use the fine control but if it could act as a shift button for output trim for example along with the output gain knob that would be cool. You could even use the bottom two compressor knobs to control width and pan while in shift mode….

To adjust the Trim on a selected track from the UC1: Press the "Back Arrow" on the UC1 , scroll to the word "OUT TRIM", press the knob to the right of the small screen to select the extended function (it wii turn green) and then adjust away. You can also adjust the: -Width -Pan -Comp Mix & -Solo Safe....from this screen as well. You're welcome.

hmmmmmmm...... interesting. thinking very seriously about either one of these or the UF1. And, I have to say, I'm gravitating more towards this which I think will help my workflow more, especially where eq and compression is concerned. This and 360 I think is going to be very very helpful. But.... am I understanding right that the other plugins from Native SSL such as the Flexverb, LMC, Drumstrip, X-Comp, etc - these cant be controlled by the UC1? That might be a red line as I use those plugins a lot.

Correct. Only the channel strips can-be controlled by the UC-1

Hy Dave really enjoy your videos. Question. I recently purchased the UC1 and are having some issues with "it" syncing with my DAW (Digital Performer). I on a Mac Mini M2 Pro using OS 14.4 Sonoma. The issue is the 360 plugin mixer does not sync up tracks with my Daw. In other words where my DAW goes 1-x, the plugin mixer just uses arbitrary numbers.Track on my DAW will be Track 1 where the plugin mixer says 13, or some other numbers right down the line, none of which line up with my DAW. The other issue is on the Bus compressor, all knobs work except for the attack, release, and ratio. These 3 have a very fast vibration movement to them when turning, and you cannot lock down a setting. Finally the channel selector on the hardare unit (in the control section) does not scroll with the racks. Turning ithe selector to run thru the channels it always returns back to track one. I have been working with support both with Sweetwater and SSL, and thus far we have not been able to determine the cause of thse issues and we have been through 2 units. I was wondering if you have heard, or come across anything similiar. Thanks!!!

A button to make the slider section disappear to reveal a sllightly condensed comp/eq section would help solve the scroll problem. I would also love to be able to change GUI colour scheme, I find the grey a bit mundane. 😎

I prefer the CH strip 2 myself. The 4Kb is cool but not my favorite.

Do you use the 360 software EXCLUSIVELY or in conjunction with other plugins? Just wondering if additional details that may be needed affects the effectiveness of the 360 software

Actually, I am not a fan of the 360 software. I prefer to work in my DAW so I have access to my other plugins in my session without having to bounce back and fourth between sessions.

Hello, Would you be able to tell me what the heck the faders in the 360 are doing? What do they do compared to the DAW faders? One place to mix one place to trim?

It allows you to mix completely inside the 360 software and not use your DAW faders

You mix your levels using the 360 software, pro tools faders would still be at unity... you could then use pro tools faders (starting at unity) to either trim levels or automate from here out? Do you use the 360 software to mix faders?

No, I dont think you can connect 2-3 UC-1 units together. I would double check that with SSL

Question for UC1/SSL360 users, and more specifically Ableton users: Does anyone actually use the SSL360 view mode to do their mixing, as compared to their DAW? ATM I'm doing all my mixing, automation and fader changes in Ableton and kinda not even looking at 360. Yes it looks cool to see all your plugins and channel strip in 1 central area, but as far as mixing goes, seems kinda redundant ? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, and hopefully someone can shine some light on this topic. Is there an advantage to for example: Set all faders at -12 on my Ableton session and simply use 360 to do gain staging and volume setting? Any guidance, advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated. 🙏

Ableton has no dedicated mixer window so I use 360 with the uc1 to do the initial basic mix and then bring plugins in back in the daw afterwards

My UC1 is not working. It just sits there and says “awaiting connection to ssl360”. I have tried 4 different cables and reinstalled all software. I do see an the device in Windows device manager, but there is an error

do not use a USB hub go directly into your computer. Try a different uSB port.

Pan is only for stereo tracks (weird eh) So what you can do is turn all track in studio one to Stereo mode (even if its a mono track like like kick snare vocals etc) That way you can pan tracks in the 360 app Just know you can’t group tracks in the 360 software so doing fader and pan moves are a PITA

@@AA-fi8bz just mix with UC1 and when you are ready, just go to your DAW with 1 button and do your pan moves. no need to put everything in stereo...

Tempting... But not having the values present when adjusting, lack of control for pan or scroll are problematic for me.... I'm stating this as I choose between this and the Softube. Considering that the Softube controls UAD interface as well, then I have to go that path. I WISH that they had the indicators that the SSL console does... But if I weigh (head to head), I must go with the softube.... and I TRULY hope that SSL will make improvements by adding these features, so that I can pick them up later.

I completely hear you on this. The Softube is a great product as well. I did an entire series of videos for it. I think it all comes down to personal workflow.

i don't like how softtube looks. all the blugins are diagrams and the same looking. no good. I like SSL because they make normal channelstrip looking plugins
