I love the Alamo as it never lets me down. It's my go to shotgun if I haven't got a Slate available. Also I think the Alamo and the hatchet has the best "hunt Showdown" aestetic vibe in the game.

Ive wiped many teams with the Alamo, its actually one of my favorite weapons now. Since I prefer to fight mid-range it can be a little bit messy but thats where the faster reload bails me out.

I used the Alamo to get my "light hunters on fire" quest done, since you don't need levering to do it, but otherwise I refuse to use that gun until they fix its reload. Hunt NEEDS animation checkpoints for guns like this, it's ridiculous.

The romero, and especially Alamo, is maybe the most consistent performing shotgun for me in the game, followed up by Rival. There's just something to the range and accuracy of it that just feels so right. That said, there are objectively better choices in the game.

I don't know why but I feel right at home with hunt showdown love the weapon feel. the guns feel so good to shoot everything just sinks into place the slow to rapid pace and the frenetic to thoughtful shooting just makes me feel good that is a reason why I love read dead redemption 2 but hunt showdown fist person just makes me feel more like me and that I could get shot at any second I love and I am not even prestige 1 (level 94) but it just feels fun, the enemy's design are really good I would just like to see two things more maps and more bosses.

I run the Romero with Dragons breath and sparks pistol. You can tag people soooooo far with the flame ammo and sparks pistol to body them and finish is too funny.

9:08 You can do the same thing with the lanterns and the plates that are sometimes on the ground. You turn off the lantern, throw it at the plate, and it keeps doing that, with a very annoying noise.

I like the Romero; it's got a tight spread and crazy 1 shot range, along with a relatively quick reload. Its biggest issue is obvious: it's only a single shot. If you miss that one shot or have to take out more than one enemy in quick succession, you may well be in big trouble. The Alamo alleviates the issue to an extent though it's far from perfect. I prefer the slate or terminus, but the Romero will always have a spot in my close range budget loadout.

Alamo reload animation (specifically the extra animation of putting the hammer down after the break action animation) makes it unusable for quick swapping. Every time you shoot, switch to pistol, then pull it back out, (assuming you did it with any respectable speed) the hammer animation still has to be done which will make you dead. So for that reason it's hard for me to dig it as I am a holdover from the quick swap days. Still I find it fun to use, but normal romero is just too elegant and simple so it gets the win. Plus it's true single shot nature jives with quick swapping.

Some of those kills (like for example 1:21) were from some pretty far range, you probably would not have gotten the kill with any other buckshot shotgun.

Some of the most shocking kills I've ever gotten were with the Romero, I had no business even shooting buckshot from that range, let alone getting 1 shot kills with it. It reminds me of Doom's original shotgun, it feels like a sniper rifle compared to other games.

yeah the ammo situation is why you just have to bring the spitfire, and even then I run out too. Definitely plan to revisit a resupply after each little skirmish. I'm so sold on the novelty of quietly shooting everything that I just...quietly shoot everything lol

I feel like BeauOrd saying this but I've found no problems with the Alamo. All the benefits of a Romero ballistically, the reload is just slow enough to deter charging without being a burden and it's cheap. Very choice 👌

My only problem with shotguns is, well, trading. Constant. Bloody. Trading. I like the Alamo, but its cycling of shots is a bit jank and honestly, still hasn't come close to being as reliable for me as the Specter.

@@psyantologist No. US East. I've already deactivated my secondary region. It. Does. Not. Matter. The trade window is insanely large. I avoid shotgun ranges entirely because of how stupidly often trades happen in shotgun ranges. The only time I take a shotgun now is for flechette and dragon's breath. Which I only did for summons usually and now I probably won't touch them for a while now. This game is absurdly bad with trading.

The romero can shoot 5 shots much faster in a row than the vanilla (I think its like 1.6 seconds or something faster between each shot) but the trade off is the reload is much slower. But as you can see a fight is typically over at that range within 1-3 shots. So the benifit of being able to rapid fire outweights the negative of a slower reload

Alamo has faster reload but has a long full reload when the tube magazine is empty. It comes with less reserve ammo. A shotgun doesn't need much ammo as it comes down to do or die every time. The base Romero can run two types of ammo at the same time. I personally would only ever run the Alamo with buckshot, the base Romero is great with any custom ammo as you're not stuck with any one ammo type in situations where its not useful. You can get it with a Talon variant that has the chopping power of an axe, nice in the rare instances when you shotgun one guy and his two buddies try to rush you and you clothesline them both around a corner with one melee swing when you don't have time to reload. It's also nice for killing bosses and breaking down doors. Generally you want to run the Romero with a spammy sidearm for backup as you'll be in trouble if you need to kill more than one person at a time. Every other shotgun is much better even with reduced consistent 1 tap range because you can down several people without reloading

FINNALY A BIG TIME HUNT TUBER GETS IT Alamo is a gun that requires discipline, pacing, an iron will and a focused head, all it is a Romero but faster, or a slower but more powerful specter, it is the probing and positioning king of the game if not factoring broken combinations, if most shotguns are battle axes then the alamo is a Poleaxe, use its range, power and slightly better speed and you can do wonders in compounds or against high speed shotguns like a terminus with levering its no Shift-W Slate slugs beast no its a ADS hallway king thats not to say its perfect though, the ending cocking animation does have a really prevalent bug that can delay it from firing as fast as normally that they have yet to fix and in intense high speed situations its slowness can let you down if you cant keep them 15m away but its 30% faster speed over the base romero can allow you to do things that other shotguns cant and only the specter can do the same things but it trades spread for speed so its own trade off.

I became a hard stuck 4 star and quit the game, against 4-5 stars I’m fine, but when I get a 6 star with a Smurf 1 star it’s not even a game. And after about a whole month of every game being dominated by 6 stars I concluded there’s no real point to the MMR system in the game and I wasn’t able to enjoy any good fights. So I left. Real shame too, because I was really liking it, but I just don’t personally have the skill to go against people at the top of the MMR, hence why I’m a 4 star in the first place.

The problem was either I died to a 6 star/ 1 star Smurf before seeing anyone else, or they cleared the server at bounty and they were all that was left. Because they are statistically good at the game, better than 4 stars hence why they are 6 stars. So they completely controlled the entire lobbies I played for an entire month. If I was playing against 4 and 5 stars, as I stated, I would’ve been fine. Win sometimes, lose others, tis’ life. But when a 6 star was in the lobby, which for an entire month they consistently were, it wasn’t even a game. So I stopped enjoying the game.

I personally have no beef with the Romero. I think it's pretty solid at getting those one taps. Imo the base and the hand Cannon versions are mediocre, but the Alamo and talon on the other hand are great. The Alamo turns your Romero into a clunky reloading spectre and the talon gives you a silent boss killer and Hunter masher.for something you could realistically have fresh out of prestige by level 15. By the by a in depth speed prestige guide would slap.

I wasn't a huge fan of the romero until I started using penny shot oddly enough, then it became one of my favorite weapons in the game obviously I can't pen walls (that's what my uppercut is for) but it makes oneshots a lot more consistent imo.

I think penny shot is definitionally less consistent, but it can potentially one tap from further away if I understand correctly.

I'm not saying penny shot is BAD by any means, but it is certainly less consistent. Functionally, it reduces pellet count, but increases pellet damage. This leads to some pretty quick and deadly kills because if one of the pellets hits the head, you're probably golden. However, it also about DOUBLES the chance of not a single pellet hitting unless you're right up in the enemy's face. The feeling of consistency is probably placebo because when it DOES work, it feels great. But if you're aimed right where you should be, buckshot is objectively more dependable (and has pen). I'll admit that penny shot does feel nice on the short barrel romero though, because you're usually using it in tighter ranges (and usually panicked situations).

My opinion hasn't changed. It's still barely an upgrade over the regular romero, not as good as the other more expensive shotguns, and the slow chambering of rounds is still horrible (meaning you often need to reload twice if you switch off the alamo). It's not bad, but kinda meh.

You trade a bit more range for a slightly lower rate of fire - also less ammo but no ejected shells on partial reloads - if you notice that you don't need that much ammo and don't usually fire the Specter as fast as it can go, the Alamo might be just for you

If you're looking at securing a 1 shot kill, not pressuring, the Romero is easily the best shotgun in the game. Always has been. And the alamo is just a faster version of that exact same reliability. This gun has been carrying folks who have trouble clicking heads since ye olden days; and for good reason.

Even though I’m a filthy rich player with a decent 1.5 kda under my belt I still play the Romero more than any other shotgun. Shotguns main purpose is securing the 1 hit kill and that’s something the Romeo excels at. At the end of the day I don’t really care whether I have the Alamo or just the base gun because both have the best shotgun range in the game and reloading isn’t much of an issue if the other person is dead.

I would suggest practicing with it more. They have identical stats; there's literally no downside to the upgrade. If you think of it as a regular Romero with an increased reloading speed rather than a magazine, you'll do well. You just have to remember to not hit reload after each shot.

Yes you've misjudged it. The hip fire one hit ko range is the longest of all shot guns. It's a shotgun you can chase with, and the Alamo is slightly faster
