There are estimates that rebuilding all the structures that have been destroyed would take a minimum of three years and as long as ten years. There aren't enough construction crews to rebuild quickly. How can people wait that long without a place to live? It's likely they'll have to leave Los Angeles to find a place to stay due to existing housing shortages. I can't imagine how people recover from such a disaster, especially senior citizens that have to start from scratch. It will take a year just to clean away all that debris from destroyed areas. New infrastructure will have to be built. There are structures many decades old that can't be replaced as they were. It's difficult to even think about the amount of resources that will be needed. I wish all those residents that lost everything the very best going forward. Los Angeles will never be the same. If it were me, I would move to another city and never look back. I would be too scared that the destruction could happen again because of the climate change.

I feel a deep sadness for those folks whose homes are destroyed and their lives are now upended in LA. This is a Mediterranean climate and subject to droughts, Santa Ana winds and periodic fires. This has been ongoing for thousands of years, long before human habitation. Legacy wood frame housing will not survive in this kind of environment. All buildings to survive and not burn will have to follow the lessons learned from Australian bush fires. Build all structures out of high fire rating basically non flammable materials. Fires throughout California point to this recurring problem. It is time to accept this as the paradigm of living in southern CA and work with it.

It’s heartbreaking when people put in the effort, and it feels like everything’s wiped out in an instant. The irony of paying for carbon taxes and still facing devastating fires is not lost on many. The system could definitely use some rethinking.

I watched a video where it was stated that this would not be effective because the transport of the water would be too difficult. When the fires first broke out and destroyed homes near the Ocean in Malibu, the winds were too strong to fight the fire from the air.
