I have been doing research on homeschooling since I found out I was pregnant with my first over 3 years ago. She's turning 3 at Christmas and I'm going to be trying to start a homeschool plan for her next year and your videos are helping me with my curriculum research and scheduling!!! Thank you so much for sharing

So glad you've found some encouragement here! My biggest tip would be to not try to introduce too much too soon! At that early age, read books, play games, explore, do crafts, talk about letters, numbers, colors, etc but don't force it! - the rest will come as she gets older! Just enjoy your time together. She only gets to be little once. :)

I love the organization with this. I know our state requirements, and I'm going to fit it in correctly, but I think there are going to be times we are hitting 6 or 7 days a week just with how our learning works daily. I love your reverse method.

Thanks so much! Much of what do for character study is reading and discussing lots of books that display good character. Like “Wisdom and the Millers” and “Storytime with the Millers” and William J. Bennett’s “Children’s Book of Virtues/America/Heroes” series. As well as reading books that have short biographies of people who displayed great character, like the Light Keepers series “Ten Boys” and “Ten Girls.” We also make sure not to read books that show and normalize bad character traits.

New subscriber here! I love your take and method of homeschooling! Can you do a video on how you go over/encourage and implement character building with your homeschooling system? I would love to go deeper into that with my family as well! Thanks! Take care and be well!

Great idea! I’ll add it to my list! 😉 In the mean time, an easy way to focus on character development is making sure you are reading really good books together that display the qualities you want to instill in your child - and then discussing them. Making sure to cheer your kids on when you start to see fruit in that area. The Bible is a key resource. Some other great books we’ve used are the Children’s series by William J. Bennett and Little Pilgrim’s Progress. Wishing you the best!

That’s so great to hear! Best of luck to you as you set out on this exciting new journey! Biggest piece of advice: keep it simple! Don’t try to do too much. You can always add more but if you do too much in the beginning it’s easy to feel super overwhelmed very quickly. 😉

Love your channel. I homeschool very similar. I love the idea of unit studies. I'm currently rotating science & geography but can't seem to find the time to add safety, nutrition, history, etc so I might try your idea!

I normally just do one lesson. Unless they are super short or the kids want to do more, depending on the curriculum. We spend maybe 30-45 min per day on either history or science.

How many hours do you do per day to meet the school requirements? I was hoping I could do this AND continue working from home.

You would have to check your state’s homeschool laws. You can find that at hslda.org. The state we live in requires 1000 hours per year OR 180 days, which I think is pretty standard, but they can all vary a little. Most don’t have a daily requirement, it’s just for the year so you can choose how you want to split it up.

What curriculum did you find for physics etc?

This video shows the Masterbooks elementary physics curriculum called Energy, but I didn’t like it very much once we got into it. We ended up using Apologia last year and liked that much better. Here’s a link for that one. Apologia Chemistry & Physics + Lab Kit | bit.ly/3eoYq89
