Mike Force Podcast

2 жыл бұрын

In this episode of the Mike Force Podcast, I delve into my recent focus of homesteading. I currently have goats, chickens, ducks, and the like to be able to sustain me and my family without having to solely rely on the Walmarts of the world.
I also read a short excerpt from Tim Kennedy's upcoming book 'Scars and Stripes'. Tim is a good friend of mine whom I served with and I continue to support what he's doing outside of the military. I hope you'd do the same.
For those that are new, the 'Mike Force Podcast' is my very own podcast where I speak my mind on current events, preparedness, mindset, tactics, overlanding, rally and all the other various interests that I have.
Who am I?
My Background: I am a former Special Forces SGM that started my career as an 11B or basic infantryman, and became a Special Forces 18B weapons specialist and served 9 combat rotations overseas. I served as a Sniper, Assaulter, JTAC, TSE expert, Free Fall jumpmaster and more.
I served in 3rd SFG, 10th SFG, USASOC, 19th SFG, and the CIA as a GRS officer protecting Case Officers overseas. I have a Bachelors degree in Homeland Security/Crisis Management and I appreciate you all tuning in!
I own Fieldcraft Survival LLC, in Heber City, Utah where we specialize in teaching civilians to be prepared for the worst case scenario. First Aid, Mindset, Fitness, Tactics, Mobility, and so much more.

As someone who served only 8 years in the military. I don’t have a big leg to stand on. But, I will say, I wouldn’t ask anyone to go serve for this country right now. Not under this BS administration. We need all the real warriors and patriots at home for what may come. Even if nothing does, no way would I ever tell someone to go serve right now.

My 4 year old daughter also hates dolls and enjoys “fixing stuff” with me and her grandpa. I found a nice pink and brightly coloured tool set, so she can feel that she can help us out. She likes to do some guy stuff but she also likes to do make up with her mom, because she knows and likes being a girl.

Always a great discussion. As a farmer, I want to put a plug in for getting to know the local small farms in your area. That's such an important resource to network, and to learn. Ask if they have volunteer days, what varieties grow well in your area...etc. They're always happy to connect with people who want to get involved. Farming is a community lifestyle, and it will definitely teach you patience and humility.

Having read Scars and Stripes, that part of the book Mike was in stuck with me. Hearing Mike read it aloud I could almost recite it word for word with him. It's nice to hear Mike's side of that story to add to it.

I'm loving this homestead journey you are on. We are a city family due to work, but the in-laws are farmers and ranchers so my kids fortunately have the ability to learn farming, ranching, butchering, gardening, hunting, etc. Once the kids are out of school and "on their own" I will be on a similar journey that you are doing now. Can't wait to learn from you.

Hey Mike love the show big fan, I grew up on a farm and like you said does it suck to kill an animal that you raised and cared for yes it does but like you said I give that animal a way better life than any commercial farm/ranch would. alot of guys I work with are big sport hunters (because they think it makes them "men") and they try to get me to go hunting with them all the time and I try to explain to them that unless I need to take that life to sustain my own life I'm not going to do it. Now there are cases like predator control and things of that nature where it is necessary. I'm big on self reliance and buying things local we also trade with other local farms like I don't have chickens so help out one of neighbors in exchange for eggs and things like that, can't wait to see your bee keeping, my wife and I want to start so I would love any pointers. Keep up the great work, we need more men like you in the world

Hi Mike, been listening to you for a while now. I & many women I know have been told "NO" on having a tubal ligation based on the idea that we might want children later. I had to fight my Doctor at 29yrs old because he thought I was wrong & that I might want more children or just take birth control (with all the side effects.) Which that was laugh for me, as it caused blood clots earlier in my life. My question for you is... What are your thoughts about the fact that most Doctors will not allow women to get their tubes tide before they are 32 or have 2 children? I bring this up as most men don't know that women have to deal with this.

Please keep us posted on the homestead. I am learning and this year got chickens (Brahma chickens). I am loving it and the grandkids are having a blast helping care for the chickens and collect the eggs. It teaches them as well as myself. I am trying to talk the hubs into beekeeping and I am currently reading about it ( mostly Pinterest) but would love to hear how it goes for you. Goats will be next if this goes fine.

It is so important for children to understand where their food comes from. I was raised that way. Whenever my dad went hunting he would bring home an animal I would pet its head and thank the animal for giving his life for me. Twisted maybe but I understood that was where food came from.

Echoing your statement, its unbelievable that we have to have some of these conversations. We're living in bizarro-land. Thanks Mike. I've had Vivint for years, I do not share your joys with the company. I too have cameras, IR/Thermal sensors around the house, they work and trigger, but when I open the app, takes forever to get the images. Thats actually the first positive thing I've heard anyone say about Tim Kenedy in a long time. Pissed me off having people compare him to Dakota Meyer. And don't even pull my cord on all this trash going on with gender identity issues and radicalized media outlets. I've given up watching TV. It just ticks me off.

Mike I appreciate your honesty in dealing with a difficult subject. Thanks for your bravery. I mostly agree with your analysis with one exception that may be food for thought. When we arbitrarily try decide when it is okay to end a child’s life in difficult situations (like rape) people often try to use an estimate of viability of the fetus (Latin for child) to discern a limit for timing as to when it would be permissible for abortion. Viability (when the baby can potentially survive outside of mom) is generally in week 23 or 24 which is in the “second trimester”. I find this distinction inadequate from the perspective that even babies born full term can not sustain life on their own without lots of help from caregivers. Therefore the distinction used as a cut off for abortion doesn’t seem to make any logical sense. At least from my humble perspective. What do you think? God bless you! Jason

I agree with u about the drama I have always done what I need and move on I show what I can do and what I am about by action not speech I have always been the person that tells people to stop telling me what u know or you can do and just show me and never waste time with bull shit and apparently I have been told that is what makes me a good leader even though I never wanted it or applied for it but from boy scouts to now at work I keep getting put in those positions even though I would rather be by my self just working on things so in my opinion my biggest problem is taken charge of something and just doing because I don’t have patience not because I think I know better to the point I have even tried to give other people the credit for something I have done hoping to not get noticed so I don’t get picked for leadership or management but it keeps happening but when I try to tell others to just do stuff and then worry about pay or advance they will say either they don’t pay me enough for that or it isn’t my job and don’t understand that they way u he paid more or move up u have to show people what u can do and the older I get the more people have this bad attitude and I don’t understand it
