@thisjerseygirlshome I need more variety. Like your pantry. Thos picture is old one of me I am 69 years old and a widow. Funds are tough on a fixed income. But I have a pretty decent pantry. I used to live in South Jersey. I loved it there

Black raspberry jam is a staple here on The Hill. We have them growing wild on our homestead. We also have wild blackberries (though we also have planted a few tame as well), and many persimmon trees. With putting out a green and several raised beds, I stay pretty busy. Then, every couple of years, we cook down our own maple syrup. I love our life--and we won't be going hungry. Thank you for sharing.

That was a fun video - always interested in what people decide to make for eating later. Loved how you told the good, bad, and really good stuff. You did inspire me to try something new - I have canned grape juice that is just not something we drink. So you mentioned have rice with something similar and I think making a rice baked pudding using grape juice may turn out nice. HOW do you make ice cream using the fruit products you told us about? Is it like sherbet or do you just put the canned product over the top? My daughter gave me the ham bone (she leaves so much meat on) to do whatever with. I boiled it out and put the wonderful broth in jars for the freezer. I added all the chopped meat to the bottom and made sure to NOT fill them over the shoulders of the jars as that causes them to break.I have no idea what I'll do with all those frozen jars of ham juice. As I watched your pantry tour, it hit me - soak my beans overnight then drain and add the jars of juice with meat for cooking the beans. YEA! flavor filled beans.at the ready. THANKS for the inspiration.

That's great! I love trying to think outside the box. Haha! I actually use the jams as the flavoring and sweetener when I make ice cream. I just mix it right into the mixture on the stove. I can definitely do a fun tutorial on that!! I'm so glad you enjoy watching, I really enjoy your comments!

That is absolutely beautiful! I can't wait to have a larder like that! I've only used my pressure canner twice so far but we all have to start at the very beginning. For the pickles you don't like: I saw this one lady dehydrate them and make powder for popcorn or other dishes. For squash bugs: They got my pumpkins good. I tried a little bit of castille soap in a one gallon sprayer with water and they were dead within the hour. Next year I'll spray as soon as I see one bug! Looking forward to more gardening, cooking, preserving videos and Happy Autumn! 5 weeks before the first frost and the holidays are just around the corner!

You obviously have enough home canned food so if you don't want to eat the canned food from the store then why don't you give it to a food pantry? They aren't wasted just sitting there and someone who needs it will have food they may otherwise not have been able to afford. Also, the food pantries all over are struggling because more people are using them and donations are down!
@thisjerseygirlshome2 ай бұрын
I can't because they are over the sell by date, and we will still eat them. Even though we have a lot of food it is an investment. We do donate and give food away frequently, but food banks (at least around me) will not accept anything past its date.
