I'm 57 and when I grow up I want to be just like Ruthann! Seriously though, Ruthann inspires me in ways no one else ever has. My canning processes have changed, my gardening processes have changed, Many things I do here on the farm have changed based off what I've learned from her videos. I've also come to realize that many of the other homesteaders I admire also follow Ruthann which is likely what drew me to them in the first place. Most importantly of all, I can see the light of Christ shining out from her eyes and beaming from her countenance and it is beautiful.

This is a helpful video. It reminds me of a saying that I heard a few years back: "If you raise your children, you can spoil your grandchildren; but if you spoil your children, you will be raising your grandchildren." Parenting is hard work, but by God's enabling help we can do it, although at times our children may not necessarily feel that we are their "friends".

I have farmed all my life. I am 70 and the young generation have came up with good ideas that we didn't think about. We still know what will happen from years but I do like their ideas

Ruth, My mother was just like you. She did live on a farm, nor did she have a big family. But she had four kids, a husband who loved to work in the woods. She did have a planner either. She instead had a mental storage unit like you. My mother loved to garden, whether it was flowers or vegetables. Shecwas a worker like you. I admire your abortion and tinasitie. Love your podcast. With 9 children in the house, we were put in pairs. The dishwashing task was rotated through the pairs. "They just won't do it 'right'" Perfectionism much? It doesn't have to be done exactly the way the parent would do it. It just has to be done good enough. s/he'll get better each time it's done.

Yes, as you go along, you don't have to do a lot of training, because you build a culture of how things work in your home. I love how we grow into more and more grace - the relationship is more important than anything else. This must be encouraging for young mothers. I'm a grandma now - which is so easy. Thankful for this. :)

All the tips and advice and tricks of raising a family is very helpful. But ultimately be yourself do yourself and work what works for you and your family. Try different things but don’t try to look like somebody else or another family. Each family is unique each family has unique ways of doing things to get the job done. And to love one another.

I agree. I have Schizoid personality disorder- basically prefer to be alone most of the time. But I cook most our food from scratch then have kids help with dishes. If they are upset or misbehaving-which is rare- I tell them to sit down and plant 3 beans or something. Basil or tomato seeds in a little pot. They quickly get lost in trying to get the seeds in and 2 days later they are looking for seedlings to emerge like it’s Christmas 😂❤

Just a start, I enjoy watching you and your family! I never had internet in my home until my son went to college. The best thing that came out of this is my son thanked me for not having internet like his friends because he had to use his imagination to entertain himself. Wow! The best compliment ever

My wife and I are approaching 30 with a 3 and 1 year old. Small property and garden with a Mountain of debt. Any tips on how to get started with this life style while dealing with large expenses?

Getting out of debt and raising littles requires consistency and faith. There is no tip that makes that easier. It's frustrating. Chipping away at debt, and consistently loving and disciplining littles is hard because it feels like so little when it's really the most important thing. Little drops of water, little grains of sand. Keep track of what you do, it helps you see your progress. Cooking from scratch is the biggest money saver and skill builder. Cook and garden with your littles and just budget time to clean up the extra mess.

The little grains of sand gave me an idea of taking two jars (one empty one full of sand) with every extra payment scoop sand from one to the other. That way we can all see the progress
