Well said! Homesteading doesn't necessarily mean you're going to live a "primitive lifestyle" as you said. It DOES mean that you intend for your land/home to produce for you in some way. ~And anything you can produce on your own for you and your family is immeasurable.

I just commented on your video about being sued by Doug and Stacy. I'm glad you are being honest about how you gotta have money to do a lot of this stuff and I'm glad you are telling people the truth. If we all just had a garden that would be a little better

Hardest part is finding the right location. My bf is immune compromised with multiple sclerosis so we have to be within a 20 minute drive to a decent hospital. We finally signed a contract to rent our 4 acre homestead! Moving in a week.

Plan Year 1: crops, orchard & natives Year 2: fowl & rabbits Year 3: sheep The property we’re moving to already has a barn, fenced pasture & a greenhouse frame. Just gonna clean up the property, add tree grafts & raised beds & preserve crop the first year

@TheArtofAdulting MS 50 year old has Primary progressive. So we are now 3/4 mile from a major hospital. I did find us a lovely apartment with a fabulous patio to grow what I can grow. I hope your 4 acre adventure has gone well this year.

I love this video. I can live vicariously through your sharing with out lifting a finger. I want to share that my dad was the 4th generation to live on the family homestead in Iowa. He grew up in the Depression and his father still made money. They had everything the needed in place with family support. After WWII when I was born my dad really missed the farm. But Grandpa was renting the farm out - he had not yet been diagnosed with the disease I inherited from him. My point it that he did not have the energy to keep crops goings. So my dad rented an average. He moved us out to the country when I was 5 and used to an indoor flush toilet. I hated the outhouse. The kitchen and bathroom did have fixtures and a drain pipe, but we had to go outside to hand pump water, heat it up on the stove then carry water upstairs to the tub. We gardened and raised foul. We had coal furnace that only heated down stairs. Ther was barely electiricy for a hanging light bulb. My five years on the farm is what I think of as oof -grid. I am grateful for my flush toilet. Many of my class mates had now running water and electricity into the 1970's +. My family's homestead was really OFF grid like my great- great grandparents did before Iowa was a state. I know that living that way is too hard for an old bird. Tho' it has been decades I still know when someone is dishing up baloney. So thank you for bein so transparent. I means a lot to me.

added thought..goat pellets make some of the best liquid compost teas....as they will eat a vast variety of plants, there are many nutrients that past through their body systems and are good for a garden/ soils.....

@@HillsideHomesteading You are correct. Something like fence, coop even a barn if needed is an investment that will last years and well worth it in the long run. Also on a personal note, respect for replying on a video you made a year ago.
