Wednesday morning treat for me... who said putting our garbage on garbage morning is more important... neh... fingers crossed garbage trucks will be late... I need my O'Driscoll fix first ;-) I love that last clip of Jenny with the fly on her forehead... they are nasty this year. Some one recommended Muskol repellent to us and I must admit I think it works slightly better than my trusty friend Deep Woods... but best trick I found so far is setting a drink tray (from a fast food place) and letting it smoke slowly...I can actually enjoy time in my hammock with two of those smoking away near by. Now if only I could figure out a way to keep it on me as I walked around to do chores ...hmmmmm Muskol it is for now. Awesome silver pasture :) and Eggs eggs everywhere LOL Love it!

I saw a video of another homestead that used fly catchers in and ourside and they worked perfectly. Those green net things with a bowl underneath where you put some food and then they fly up in the net

@@ODriscolls I have one who's always broody but she's not cranky! I take her out of the nesting box several times a day and it doesn't seem to bother her. She doesn't have any eggs to sit on though, so maybe that's why she's being nice. I only have 4 hens. 1 is molting and 1 is broody so only 2 are laying lately, and I take away they're eggs as soon as I see them.

Oh my.. this happens here too. I get scared to touch the rotten ones. Haha.. you know why. Luckily they tend to kick out the bad ones. Me? Let the skunk have it.🤣 he'll get them if i ask. I have two that can't be caught and won't stay in the pen. Idiot lays where ever she wants x2. Keep up the good fight. Lol. Always busy., that's how we roll.

@@amymartin7508 i let my hens out of their run when I'm outside, working in the garden or yard. Once in a while I notice one is missing but when I go in the coop, she's in a box. So far I haven't found any eggs elsewhere. But again, I just have 4 hens, you have quite a flock!! Ill be getting 2 more this Fall, they'll lay different colored eggs from these ones 😊 Always exciting!!! Enjoy your weekend!

That egg haul, WOW! ("I'll never tell!" haha!). In a recent video, Gold Shaw Farm (Vermont) wrapped flypaper sheets on large cones (you could use anything) and caught so many flies! His cows were covered until he did this (recommended by a viewer). Not sure if that would help or not but I thought I'd share jik. Stay cool! 💕

I was just saying to jenny that we should put something out to give the sheep a break. Some days they seem unbothered and others they seem to be dro e with the flies. Gonna have to do something that is easily portable.

@@ODriscolls Check out Gold Shaw Farm's video short he recently put out. (I mentioned cones, but he covered trash bins) I personally had great luck with those flytraps that bait them and they collect in the bag/container below. 💕

Coping with tractor envy… just observing Domnic is really getting the skills with it. Does the tractor have a name? Good observation on not tearing up the new pasture, I was watching and thinking the same. We get such identification with your experiment, bridget our chicken expert was stalking a free ranging layer last week. Marcus.

Good job with the tractor. I see the grass issue. Maybe a chainsaw to cut roots exposed and a comealong to pull stump over. great video

Hi, we live in south shore area. Where do you get your palletts? Are they free?
@ODriscolls2 жыл бұрын
We've gotten them different places. You can ask at places like Canadian Tire or grocery stores. They are usually pretty low quality, but free. We've paid hardwood ones on kijiji before when we were able to snag some.
