If you like spicy foods make some spicy sauerkraut too, it's really good and something different to throw in the rotation.

You probably already know this, but you can put it in half gallon mason jars with a pickle pipe on it and do multiple ones at a time! that’s the way. I’m now doing it and then just moving them to the refrigerator once they’re fermented.😊

I always freeze my broth when they don’t get used up right away that way I know they’re still good when I need them

Yes, I usually do that but I had a plan for that broth and didn’t end up getting to it in time.

Tom will eat the sauerkraut if you put it on his plate. My nephew (who lives with us) told me once that he’s not a fan of fermented food. So, loving auntie that I am, I started blurting some sort of ferments on every plate that I served him…and I’m the food prepper in the house. So he got fermented into his diet very well. When I make him a rice bowl I put three or four in the bowl. When I asked him if he realized what he was doing, He said yes and thank you.

Feel better soon.. Our daughter lost her sense of taste and still two years later she still has issues. There is a new strain that presents as strep. I agree that it was made by evil parties .

Sorry the unwanted spraying happened. I'm glad the spraying was not as bad as it could have been. I am sorry about the COVID. I have only had COVID once for sure in 2022, over a year after the shots. I only got tested because I developed a weird symptom. I had the original two shot series, but nothing since then. The medical professionals believe that I had already had COVID prior to the two jabs in 2021. It is possible that I have had it since 2022. I have a fairly robust immune system that tends to fight off everything. I do not have a fermenting crock, but I did recently purchase pickling pipes and glass weights for use in half gallon jars.

Oh goodness, you have been through a lot! Glad the pesticide situation got worked out. I would be devastated too, if my whole yard had been sprayed. Glad your garden and chickens were safe. So sorry you got Covid, and glad you’re feeling better! I agree, it’s evil at its finest. You had a really nice harvest and those onions look great! Great job on the sauerkraut! Looks delicious! I need to try to ferment. I haven’t fermented anything yet! I know it would be helpful to eat more fermented foods!

I know you didn’t ask…. If it were me, I would ask for compensation for the garden. Legal is a pain, mistakes happen and forgiveness takes time ❤. However I would request to see that girl, in person & walk her through the garden and explain why maybe she needs to rethink her job choices & offer her some career counseling lol. The fatigue for me has been since beginning of the year & the sense of smell took 4 months. I pray it’s way quicker for you!! Put some no trespassing signs up that include this is a pesticide free yard!!

I'm so sorry about all the roller-coaster-ing! All turned out better than expected though. Jesus was right there all the time, wasn't He? Your peppers looked amazing! Your sauerkraut, too! I think I said something when you started it about making spicy curtido, which is a Latin version with onions, peppers, garlic, and cilantro. It turned out yummy! I only fermented it for a week, per the directions, but if I make it again, I'll let it ferment longer. But I'm actually happy with it, and it will be good for us. From the time I first started having sinus colds and infections at about the age of 13, I have routinely lost my sense of smell, and therefore taste. It is always temporary. Annoying, but temporary. It doesn't really keep me from eating as much as I wish it would, but there you go!😂 Even at my advanced age, I still heal up!

Hey, Jay. Quick question. I’m just to seeing where you decided to toss the beef broth because you can’t smell whether it’s good or bad. Question is, wouldn’t other noses in the house be able to smell the broth for you? Your husband is probably able to smell it. Even Benny. Yes, he’s a dog and can’t actually say,”That’s good, Mom. Thanks, I’ll have some”. But he can communicate by showing that he wants some or he would walk away from it. I haven’t had a functionary olfactory nerve for probably 7 or 8 years. I depend on others to be my nose. It’s really scary when I may be around bromeline. The healthy enzymes of pineapple that makes it a superfood. By the time I start to feel anaphylaxis coming on I’m down for three days. So I depend on people that care for me to help me out.

Just want to encourage you….nothing happens without God’s allowance….when you are under “his umbrella”. I have observed you testifying to pursuing His Will consistently….which i truly appreciate!!! He may even be “gracefully” re-directing you((which I have personally experienced) Homesteading is hard hard work. Yes pesticides are horrible…..but sometimes I wonder if we need to worry as much as we do, especially when consuming grain products in our diet (“I am the bread of life”). We are in the world….we rub shoulders with an unsaved world, but when we are in the Word God cleanses us in the process…..just like bread when you consume it regularly…..lol…not sure if you have had this experience yet of regularly consuming freshly milled grains😂. I have been at the whole natural approach to lifestyle for only 3 years but I do see there is a temptation to take on too much in fear of the things that hurt us. So, as Christ compares himself to bread….. not produce….I made the choice to focus on that 1st (then garden as God provides the time/resources. I also try to teach others in that order as well as versus doing more than God gives me the energy/time to do. Of course this is just the journey God has lead me on…but I share it….ONLY IF it encourages you to take it a little easier….provide grace to your efforts.
