My 98 year old mother in law has dementia. I try to call her every day and tell her what I am doing. I told her I cleared my garden and we had "stabbed" potatoes for supper. She knew what i meant! She said you weren't very careful with the pitch fork when you were digging! I loved that she was right.

Oh my dear I LOVE you and watching everything you and your family do! I am 78 years old, and I wanted a farm girl life since I was a teenager! I was married to a dear man for 54 years who needed to be closer to his work than my farm would allow. Finally sold the farm and gave up on my dream. Always had wee garden spots and also large pots. I have had a wonderful life and 2 beautiful children, I am alone now, I believe God gave me what He knew I could manage❣️ To you and your family…..♥️

We call that little jar of gold, chicken stew, and it a favorite on our shelves. Beautiful garden, by the way. We just retired, and we're building a little house on our daughter's property. Hopefully, a garden will go in soon. My soul is screaming for some self-sufficiency!

Love this idea!!! You can also make a light roux with some butter and flour (I make them in batches and freeze in an ice cube tray) and then when you want to eat, add a cube or two to a pot, let it melt, dump the chicken and gravy on top and it will thicken nicely. That way, you don't have the raw flour taste.
@taxat10n1sth3ft
@taxat10n1sth3ft 8 ай бұрын
Do you mean, can it that way? With the roux on the bottom?
@Mariaabroad
@Mariaabroad 8 ай бұрын
@@taxat10n1sth3ft no, I make a roux with butter and flour and either milk or broth. Then I freeze it in ice cube trays and anytime I need to thicken something, I just throw a cube or two in to make a gravy.

Just came across your channel. I am a pressure canner gal. Looking for deals on meats and veggies and get them asap in my pantry. I am looking forward to canning this recipe. I always change it from the books too. My husband and I are garlic FREEKS seriously I grew it at one time but never had enough lol lol Will try this recipe forsure. I just did 14 quarts of chicken pot pie. So this one is right up my ally. I keep bacon fat in my fridge at all times. I brown my stew meat etc... Now I put in my baking powder biscuits. S making some baking powder biscuit with your recipe is going to be just devine. ! Sorry folks who are grossed out by this but my mama always did this. We were hmmm very poor. Mama raised us 6 kids on her own and we never never went hungry. We utilized everything!! So appreciate your channel and look forward to viewing more recipes. Cheers Vancouver Canada
