Prepper princess is a millionaire. Saying that, I watch her all the time. Im not bagging. But in my world, I can't have that. My budget is around 790.00. I have city sewer, gas, water, homeowners insurance, taxes, and food. Car insurance, electricity, phone, internet. Everything. I live on the edge all the time. God provides. Every time.

You also are spot on. My hubby and I retired as soon as our house was paid off. No car debt or credit card debt either. We were super aggressive to pay the house of because we wanted to retire. At that time, we were living on 15% of our overall income which made it super easy when we retired. Nothing changed except we were no longer serving as slaves to debt.

Hi, Tessie. You laid this all out clearly, and what you're doing makes so much sense to me. After you posed the question about taking SS at age 62, I started thinking about what our income will be when we're living on SS and my pension (from when I was still a classroom teacher). I think that adjusting our living now to more closely match what the amount will be then is excellent preparation. Our budget is pretty strict already, but you've got me thinking about how and where we can implement additional changes into our lifestyle so we're ready for when that time comes.

However, We knew he really needed to so I explained to him if we needed to live off of "just my wages" for a year and if we did that comfortable then we would know what to expect... It worked out fine. There was no extra every month but we were able to do it... We banked his wages for that year and that started a nice emergency fund just in case. I think its good to practice living below your means just for your own knowledge of worst case scenario.. Just in case

Luv your channel. The risk with no health insurance is that medical providers are being very mean these days and not giving options for payment plans. The only concern is because you do have assests ( land , vehicle) you may be at risk for losing those due to medical bills but it depends on your state laws and what they can take if you had to declare bankruptcy. Best wishes in your endeavors. ❤

Paid off house, car and majority of credit cards with my 401K and had still have some in savings. Retired and now no financial stress. You certainly put a smile on my face when you mentioned Earl the squirrel. How cute!!! 😊 I too have to 'sit down' and give serious thought about what I must cut as far as monthly expenses goes. I'm really thinking about getting rid of wi-fi. I'm just not sure yet. I've had it for like 12 years, and I'm not pleased with how much they've raised their monthly price. If I could still cast videos from my phone to my TV without it, I would 100% do it, but I dont think that would still work (casting from my phone to the TV) if I did. Things at the grocery store are not getting any cheaper. I've really got to figure some budget cutting things out. Tessie, when you get your chickens (if youre still planning that), you all may want to check with your tax office about putting an agricultural exemption on your property. When a person has chickens, etc., you can most likeky claim that exemption. That exemption should lower yall's taxes even more. Thank you for the video. 😊

Not tech savvy but I did buy an adapter for my iphone that allowed me to connect my phone to my "dumb" tv via HDMI, using the tv as a Monitor, so to speak. I haven't check it in a while but I'm not sure I could view horizontally - meaning the YT videos I watched were in vertical mode, even on the tv - I just never took the time to figure it out. now I use an HDMI cable to connect my laptop and "watch" the internet that way - basically having a large monitor vs watching on my laptop. I'm not paying for any streaming etc and hope to cut waaay back on all screen time. I need to get my life back instead of numbingly 'watching' it go by. Not advocating for everyone - just my thoughts. I watch very few things - Tessie, Amanda (PP), Larry and Hop (UTM), and two or three others though not every vid that comes out. Because I am in the "early stages" of this change, it is a little uneasy and at the same time exciting. best to you on your journey to find a solution to the wi-fi and other costly things... we definitely benefit when we make frugality 'fun'!

I am debt free with the exception of electric, telephone, and insurances, and tithes. This year I want to bring my electric bills down. Like you i have a garden and can what i grow. I also have chickens for meat and eggs. I fish, so that helps out too. My sister, BIL & I buy and raise a cow which we take to the butcher every 2 years so the freezer is always full. I am lucky there. If people give me food i never turn it down and take it and can or freeze. I am blessed. Very, very seldom do I eat out. I usually cook and eat at home. Yes, my husband needed a heart valve replaced which was bad enough, open heart surgery. But he had many complications, was in the operating room five times in eight days and in the hospital for three weeks… $800K. That’s not counting the care after he was out of the hospital. Nobody would have guessed this. He went in 57 years old with almost no medical history other than being born with a bicuspid aortic valve. So, the thought of being without medical insurance terrifies me. We’ve got to protect the assets we’ve worked so hard to accumulate.

Great video. It's sad I know someone who had the same house insurance company for 50+ years they updated info every year. Their house burnt 2 years ago and all they got was 13k that didn't even cover removal of hazardous waste basically anything that burnt and boarding up the house and money for a place to stay for 6 months. They have nothing now and it's sad. Health insurance is a damned if you do or don't. How many people really use heath insurance or use it to the full extent? But if you get diagnosed with cancer or break your hip your screwed if you don't have it. The insurance companies have us all in a corner. Keep up the great work 👍 glad you stopped making Amazon rich.

I'm one of those weirdos who think budgeting and saving is fun too! I was so excited on Friday when I came in $26.18 under my grocery budget because I was able to transfer that right into my savings! I would have transferred it even if it were only 18 cents 😂. My husband was shocked how much I was able to save of our money just by transferring every little amount. I have on my budget for the month to put a certain amount into savings, but I also only leave a certain amount in the checking account for the week. Anything left over at the end of the week (mostly gas), I transfer that to the savings, so I start with a cleared slate the next week.

Wow, $600.00 per year is taxes is wonderful! My taxes just went up to $2612.00 and that is cheap for our area. It would be double that amount if we lived in the city. Thanks for this. I always watch Prepper Princess and, over the years, I think her monthly bills have gone from $800, then $1,000 and now $1,200. Recently she had no homeowner's insurance because they wouldn't cover her til she got her roof replaced, which she's done. I know her health insurance added a big chunk. so that's probably the difference between the $800 and $1,200. It's always good to keep checking. Our electric company has just revised their billing and we have "peak" hours that we get super-charged if we use heat, washer, etc. during certain times. There's a petition protesting this practice because you can get charged for the whole day just by using heat during even one peak hour. I also have HOA fees that I won't be having when I downsize in a couple of years. Luckily, property taxes are reasonable here ($1,300 compared to $6 or $7K in NJ where I'm from). Keep us updated as you learn because we could all use it.

We are retired, I took mine (62) when hubby retired at 66 and do not get the full amount. We were really confused about medicare and ended up with just basic plan and Rx plan. No dental or eye doctor coverage. We both had some teeth that needed caps/root canals and pulled. Normal cleanings and fillings are a big expense too. Glasses are about $1,000 a year. I got sick with a serious medical condition. Dr. recommended upgrading our Medicare. At that point, there is no changing it due to now preexisting condition. My advice is really research your options!

Good for you that you earn some interest on your money! We have a money market account. We have our propane, house taxes and insurance, plus our vehicle insurance and plates money in that account. We keep a pretty strict budget, and I have written down how much of the money in the money market account goes to each item. I can totally see that the two of you are strict to your budget too! YOU DO YOU is my theory. We do retirement since my husband is still working. We also have health insurance through his work. We are preparing for him to retire in the next couple of years so it's a good idea to start "practicing" ahead of time.
