I have tried out the toilet bowl cleaner on cleaning the grout and it does work. I also used it on the shower walls. I had great tenants so ckeaning was not a huge issue since they were very clean. I had a house that I rented out to a family of 4. They lived there for 18yrs and I can honestly say that I never had a problem with their rent. The man was always on time with the rent. His wife took good care of the house and property. They moved out when they bought a house. I was heartbroken to see them go but happy for them. I know not every person that rents out property gets good tenants. I was lucky. I now rent that same house to an elderly couple and one pet. It's very sad when some renters who destroy property by not cleaning and adding junk around the outside or inside the property really mess it up for other people. All I can say to property owners who rent is to be on your toes and always check your properties. It's your most valued investment.

If your cat has too much loose hair, simply coat the cat in varnish or nail polish and allow to set. Now your cat has a nice hard outer coating, like a Smartie! Once a year, just cut the fur under the crunchy coating, and remove the outer shell. Set aside the coating to be used as a nice cat planter. Re-coat your cat, and never be bothered again with floating cat fluff throughout the home. Try this out on a neighbour’s cat first, to see how well it works for you. Have fun. I think the rubber glove would work to remove pet hair from fabric without using the stick hairspray - I wouldn't want the residue on the textiles. I wonder if silver polish would be safer for your silverware over the long run. Hairspray also works well on ink-stained fabric, especially if treated quickly and before washing the garment. Or rinse in the sink after. Before you wash. If you are using regular powdered laundry soaps you can make a paste with water put area of clothing to be soaked in to a bowl and pour the paste and let sit over night wash the next day. Don't dry clothes that have a stain until you check to see it the stain is gone. Use Vinegar in your towels instead of fabric softener. You can even pour some on a clean wash cloth and use it like a dryer sheet. Just keep using the same wash cloth. I have white ones just for that. Colored ones for washing you. Also keeps your washer and dryer from smelling stinky.

Hey, here's a toilet "tip" that might help some people. If you have a toilet/toilet tank that won't stop "sweating" (regardless if the tank is insulated or not) you can get an anti-sweat valve from your local hardware/plumbing store. It has a hot and a cold inlet and a mixed outlet. The temperature of the water can be adjusted, so you don't melt your wax seal.

DONT PUT DISH SOAP IN YOUR WASHING MACHINE! Rinse it first or you will have suds foaming out the front! There is a good reason the soap for your machines is a low foam soap. A much better way to disinfect your pillows (especially old foam chip ones) is to sew them into new pillow cases and then toss them into the dryer with a scent you like in whatever form you prefer on a high heat for a short period of time ( 10 minutes MAX!). All bacteria and mites etc will be dead. Then hang them outside in the sun for and hour and fluff and beat so the dust and hair etc. will come out. BOOM, like new! Dont use toothpaste on your silver as the toothpaste is actually taking silver OFF!!

I saw a cleaning hint elsewhere that suggested using a squeegee that has that plastic or rubber edge (to clean off windows or glass). A piece of felt that goes under a chair door? I think you mean a chair leg... 🤣 You also don't need to spray hairspray on a glove to remove pet hair from fabric or furniture. All that does is smear sticky hairspray everywhere... Just use plain water and it works just as well. I usually don't even wet the glove, any of those "yellow" gloves work fine dry. Put a towel between the layers of a t-shirt before you spray or rub anything into a stain, otherwise you're just rubbing the stain from one side of the shirt to the other. Don't use toothpaste on good silver - you could clearly see all of the scratches in that pan left from the toothpaste. Quit being cheap and go buy some silver cleaner, it's not expensive.

Though I swear by Dawn Spray, Awesome cleaner or just bleach, I cleaned the tub for an elderly man who hadn't done so in years. I was prepared to scrape soap scum with a straight razor but was pleasantly surprised by this hack- The Works toilet rim cleaning gel for hard water deposits. It started foaming & dissolving build up instantly! It even took off rust stains. The only thing is that it turns the silver drain to a shade of pewter, which honestly looked less cheap if you ask me. For super tough jobs like a Sharpie marker on a toy doll I use carburator cleaner, just patch test first.
@biscuitsandgravy14712 жыл бұрын
I have always been told to take a dry erase marker and go over the sharpie marks and it will remove the ink when wiped away. Give it a try. I e done it on hard surfaces, but not on fabrics.

The toothpaste tricks works best when it's more baking soda based rather than the smooth more gel like kind.
@Kayenne542 жыл бұрын
@@wiseforce7045 Yes, paste rather than gel. Also, if you want to clean copper (like copper based pans etc.) and make it look like new, Worcestershire sauce does a great job. Depending on the item and area, swish it over or gently soak. Wash off carefully afterwards and rinse clean of course.

love your hacks but do you have any for soap scum and lime deposits on the glass shower screen?
@aylacrissman34432 жыл бұрын
A hack to slow that build up down: use Rainx (the car windshield stuff) to have it bead down quicker, use a squeegee after a shower, and clean with vinegar (not 100% sure on the last one, but my grandparents use the first 2 on their glass shower screen and I’ve seen the last a lot on KZbin/TikTok to clean glass and showers/baths). Also, apparently there is a shower door rainx, but it seems to be more expensive than the car one and I don’t know how well that one works.

In a bowl of water add half a cup of white vinegar, a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid and scrub the glass down. It washes off a the scum. I then pour clean water over and wipe or squeegee off the excess
@ddempsey96422 жыл бұрын
@@sueelliott4793 Coat glass with a thin paste of bicarb & water. Then lightly dilute white vinegar with warm water in a spray bottle. Spray the glass doors & see the bicarb &:vinegar foam up. Rub gently at the same time if necessary. Rinse off using shower head. To keep glass clean for longer, I spray a little multi surface polish onto a soft clean cloth & rub all over the glass, then immediately polish off well in a circular motion with a dry part of the soft clean cloth. Water will roll off in beads for a few showers. I also polish worktops & plastic trays etc this way to keep surfaces smooth & clean for longer.

Dish soap has a massive amount of salt in it, so it works to melt ice.Also kills bacteria.

I use a cat slicker brush with the shorter 1/2in metal bristles to remove pet hair from just about everything, even the carpet before vacuuming. Vacuuming is much easier afterwards.

Tyfs! I need to try this . . I'm drowning in cat hair EVERYwhere!
@ddempsey96422 жыл бұрын
Also - a sponge lifts hair too & with a little diluted carpet cleaner will freshen at the same time. Or a shoe or slipper with a patterned sole (on or off the foot) lightly circled on a carpet will roll hair & fluff into balls that can be lifted off. A light & even sprinkling of baking powder on a carpet makes vacuuming it more methodical & effective.

@@wildlifeathome My cats are moulting now so I see big tufts on rugs & mats - I use a 'litter grabber' to pick the tufts up & drop into a pile or straight into a bin. Grabber also worked when one was a tiny kitten & I needed to catch her for a trip to the vet. Closed on her little neck so I could pick her up! Find a grabber works well in the garden for weeding too.

De-ice; it’s not good to put dish soap outside on walkway, it can bleed into the grass and kill it. Best to use coal cinders and calcium. The coal cinders ‘evaporate’ the ice, not just melt it. The area will be ice free in just hours. Most townships that use coal cinders will allow the public to fill a bag for free to do their driveways and walkways.
