A subject on Africans being viewed as a threat, the author of the video did not address the Elephant in the room which is the physical appearance of Africans and their descendants. Early explorers to the African continent told stories of having encountered giants, savages, and humans of great strength. Even when the explorers came back to start the slave trade they knew exactly what they are trading which is physical strength. Even after centuries of migration people of African descent are still associated with that perception, they are stronger. If you want to assess the threat levels of the person standing next to you, the physical appearance is where you start from before thinking about what they have, their origins or ancestry. Africans had that high threat level and combined with the abundant resources, the possibility of a strong empire rising was considered to be high.

@@satty5030 I think you are too quick to express your opinion without actually going through my statement. Perharps you can read my comment again. Otherwise your comment is confusing and innaccuarte. Height is not physical strength, and was never traded to create a civilization based on one crop. What does that even mean?. Geography, diet, hunter gatherer, normadic lifestyles are generic and not unique to Africans, so attributing those factors as the source of their strength is misleading and innacurate.

Matey this is why Black History studies in public education is so important. I don't remember who said it but; The easiest way to control a population is to suppress and deny the knowledge of their own history. This is relevant to US and world history as well, which have always been distorted for the purposes of those who would rule the country by virtue of their personal wealth. That too is why 99% of the white supremist are ignorant of the fact that their Confederate ancestors were as sharecroppers elevated only to the position of lowly paid slaves to the plantation owners who took all their wages back at the company store where they were cheated on their production and merchandise sales. If taught history was factual, everyone would know about the US governments genocide of 200 million indigenous here in America, and they would likely be treated more justly today. The true enemies of humanity are the oligarchy worldwide. Know thy true enemy.

@@themiddleman3060 I've heard everything from 20 million to 196 million. We have to consider a few factors. One we are talking about 2 continents, North and South America. Numbers are hard to quantify because records were burned and populations died of disease before Europeans even reached them because the diseases reached neighboring populations first. Neither European scholars nor Western governments are truly interested in knowing or reporting the true cost of their invasion. Lastly, what metric is being used to determine the cause of the genocide or the length of time, and who was/is affected may vary. When do we stop counting the deaths of native people? Just the first 100, 200 or 400 years? Or when their all gone? Do those loosing the habitats in the Amazon today count? Do we count the wars? Do we count the policies, like ethnic whitening? If it were my people... We're counting it all.

I'm from Africa. East Africa. To the narrator of this video, I would say: you don't know your roots. Tribalism is a local, national and international problem. The Arabs and the Europeans realized and exploited this to their own advantage and maximum benefits. That was before they divided Africa into countries from which they can control the flow of money and people, benefiting from each transaction and transportation, and infiltrated our "independent" governments with extreme corruption. However, regardless of the exploitation of outsiders, we Africans are to be blamed for our internal tribalism that divides us more than any outsider could exploit or amplify, and unfortunately it persists till today. We have to overcome tribalism. Corruption will not end until we do. We have to dismantle the borders set by the Arabs and Europeans and combine our continent into one country. We have to *see* each other as more precious, beautiful, attractive and trustworthy than the outsiders. Only then will we ever regain our continent into our own hands. If we don't, then we cannot blame anyone else for exploiting us.

I was agreeing with you until I saw the end. Creating one country won’t solve anything : which language will we be speaking ? How do you put countries who already hate each other into one country ? Culture also take a big part in the reason why it won’t work (trust me certain people won’t like to be associated with foreign cultures, languages, religions and way of living in general). Also, who will run the country ? Where I am from, it is already a problem that the president is from a certain tribe and that he is tribalist. With the intern conflicts that are there, nothing will be beneficial from this union, people will still be hating on each other and feel forced to be considered from the same country. Instead, people from the same tribes should live together in their own country in order to really get rid of tribalism (instead of forcing people who don’t get along to be together *like certain people did* ) You want to do the same thing that colonizers want to do and it’s concerning to me. Forced cohabitation is never a good thing.

I am not a black man, I am a Mestizo. This means that I am a new race of people that came forth from indigenous Americans being raped by our Spanish oppressors. Disease, slavery, and genocide wiped out the majority of our native ancestors , although the Yaqui nation mine came from still survive. Most Latin Americans don't discuss their bastardized roots but I wear it like a badge of honor. My story is no different than any race on the planet who has both suffered and contributed greatly to civilization. I am a student of history and my historical journey and quest to obtain understanding has lead me to studying Africa and thus to this channel. I feel that it is not only important to those of African decent but important to the world in general that people be educated on the great contributions that Africans have made to civilization. How wealth and most importantly the knowledge that Africans imparted upon the world changed the course of human history in a very meaningful way. Africans have undoubtedly suffered but over all they flourished longer. I feel this to be important because the greatest oppressor is that of the mind. Africans are taught of their struggles but not of their triumphs. Not of their historical importance. Only teaching them of their struggles only serves to hold them down and to divide all people into categories of victim and oppressors rather than illuminating the historical truth which is that all people have suffered, yet all of us have greatness in us. That we are only limited by our perception. That we walk in the footsteps of giants. History should teach us all of the dangers of power and tribalism. It should make us proud of who we are but wary of who we can potentially become. That oppressed or oppressor are real threats of human nature. That self mastery and discipline will keep us on the right path, but love and knowledge will set us free.

Africans outside of north africa were looked at like a snack not a threat. The sahara and non arid regions kept the western, central, and southern africans relegated to their tribal societies, instead of intermingling and trading with the developing nations and they stayed underdeveloped for thousands of years. Even the greeks and romans knew there were land and resources and a easily dominated people on the other side of the sahara but they found it too difficult to cross for the sake of colonization. If the sahara wasnt a physical obstacle that kept those africans seperate from the rest of the world they would have adapted over time and been on equal footing with the north africans and Eurasians and could have defended themselves against abuse. They tried to enslave Egyptians, Libyans, algerians, and tunisians too, but they were saavy and prepared and frankly they were used to be slaveowners already. They couldnt do it so they had to go further south and out west where people were more simple and society was based on basic survival, instead of the arts, politics, and military. Same way native american and south american tribes that were isolated for thousands of years also fell victim to domination. Because they were isolated and knew nothing about the modern world. Humans grow and learn more the larger and more interconnected the communities are. If you are only connected to your tribes you only know what your people know, whereas egyptians learned and shared knowledge and trade with macedonians, asians, levantines, and eurasians. Africa as a whole is just now learning and getting on an equal playing field. And its not africans fault or anything its just they lived in a tribal and hunter gatherer society for too damn long and werent exposed to other ideals and lifestyles

As someone who lives in Africa, this probably only applies to the most northern African countries close to the Middle East region. For the other countries, they weren't a threat; it was simply the fact that they could get resources that they didn't have, and at that time, we as Africans didn't truly understand how valuable those resources were or just didn't have the weapons or technology to fight back, so they took advantage of that.

It's all redundant anyway if u really break it down. A man's self sufficient labor is replaced by a commodity that is worked and produced by others giving profits to the man who sold the commodity. Often this profit exceeds the necessary amount for survival or sustainability and ironically isn't enough for the workers to be self sufficient. In short. Selling or exploiting resources is a scam to avoid self sustaining labor. All u need to do is convince the workers that they took have a chance to have overabundance. Smdh. @@Dreadboi1990 Until the Scramble for Africa in the 1900's, much of the African inland was untouched by Europeans or Arabs, so for the claim to be made that Africa was a historical threat is not very accurate. Even port cities have only been established since the 1500's by Portuguese explorers. Most enslavement of people in Africa was conducted by neighboring enemy Kingdoms or Tribes. The Cress Welsing Theory is solely part of the American experience. And not very historical in its approach. It's based more-so on speculation and psychological guesses. But the Racist rhetoric of the United States has been projected globally and it's disgusting. In order to begin solving this problem we need to re-evaluate the idea of Race in the first place.

I highly appreciate and commend the program. The frank and progressive discussion of our quintessential identity as negroes has, in the last 50 years, been put on the backburner because of our own collective and individual insecurities, disunity, fear and repression. The philosophical teachings of Pan-Africanism has been all but abandoned. This documentary gives me hope that one day, we may yet again have the intellectual capacity and will to re-examine and continue the works of such Pan Africanists Marcus Garvey and W.E.B Dubois. “A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.” ― Marcus Garvey

@kinglikuid6109
@kinglikuid6109 3 жыл бұрын
@@peterpereira3653 if what you say is true, then why is it the oppressive Behavior did not end with the transatlantic slave trade? No black African leaders thought it was necessary to destroy Black Wall Street or Implement Jim Crow in the US No black African leaders made the decision to pay reparations to former slave masters in the aftermath of the Civil War while depriving free black people their 40 acres and a mule the US govt promised them. How many black African leaders have had a hand in perpetuating oppression here in the United States for the last 400 plus years? If the Greed of Black African leaders are responsible, was this greed also responsible for the European colonization of African nations as well during the 18th 19th and 20th Centuries? How many Black African leaders were invited to German Chancellor Bismarck's Berlin Conference to divide up the African continent and place it under European colonial rule, ensuring the European nations would not fight each other over African resources? If the greed of black African leaders are the root oppression as you have stated, I find it interesting that centuries after the transatlantic slave trade ended, many of those same black African leaders found themselves being colonized by European nations after they sold tribes they conquered into slavery under the coercion of European powers that if they weren't provided slaves, they would provide guns to their neighboring tribes and those tribes will defeat them and sell them into slavery. Seems to me that European colonizers had guns and they use this to manipulate the fears a black African leaders that they and their particular tribe could be essentially enslaved The European colonizers put it into the mind of the black African leaders it is either you or your neighboring tribe but I am enslaving black people and I don't care who. The greed of black African leaders is definitely a component of the slave trade that is usually solely focused on by white imperialists as a method to deflect and minimize the brutality savagery and barbarism implemented by white European leaders. It also stand to reason that Africa has 100 times more resources than the European continent, and all of the centuries of oppression is rooted in black african leaders greed? Logically this makes no sense.

My wife is Ethiopian and they are on the brink of civil war, just tribal power struggles and fight for national language. They still have a few hundred spoken languages. Unfortunately most empires collapsed from within, unfortunately for Africa they had limited power globally due to constant internal collapse. Thanks

You're completely ignoring the human capital at play in different cultures and civilisations, different ethnicities aren't interchangeable you can't just see that Europe or East Asia have succeeded so naturally black Africans must also posess this potential. The rest of the Human population left Africa between 60,000-100,000 years ago. The differences are significant, and I don't know if it's helpful for Africans to draw parrallels between themselves and other people's. It's not as simple as we're all the same so are destined to have our turn one day. The model of technological advancement in the rest of the world isn't really relevant to a population that wouldn't have got their on their own.

This makes sense because when the Ancient Greeks travelled it seem that everywhere they went they found "Ethiopian" or "Black: Burnt Faced People" take India as an example. As far east as they went they found the Dravidians classifying them as "Eastern Ethiopians". Then take the European expansion in the 14th Century to the 18th Century. Nearly everywhere they went they either found black looking people in places such as: Australia, India, almost all the islands of Oceania. Then they next ethnic group they found in mass was darker skinned Mongoloid people like Southeast Asians or Native Americans. Really when you think about it, when Europeans expanded and explored the world, they really didn't find any other "European Looking White People" beyond the continent of Europe and Central Asia. Everyone else in the world was dark skinned mongoloids or Australian looking. Thats where the fear comes from, no one else is "White" outside of Europe and parts of Central Asia. The Greeks knew this as far back as B.C. and Europeans were reminded of this during colonization A.D. On top of this if you mix with a European the child 9 times out of 10 looks like the other "race" than "white". Southern Europeans are an example of this because they have Middle-Eastern and African blood and most Southern Europeans aren't white skinned nordic looking people. They are tanned, dark haired and dark eyed like Italians and Greeks who are considered POC (People of Color) today by they way.

Then how come no African has won a strongman competition? Like world's strongest man? I'd argue the Nordic peoples are the ones with dominant physique and strength because they're not only taller, but are able to build good muscle mass without looking lanky. And I'm a black guy lol

@@GeneralLocooo Africans also don't also play hockey, tennis, golf or swim much. If more Africans were to enter those strong man competitions, they would easily dominate the Nordic people. Look at how Serena Williams dominated tennis after they finally allowed us to compete alongside with them.. Not all Africans are lanky. West and Central Africans typically aren't lanky. There's a reason why most non- black countries in the last Olympics used mostly black and African descended people to represent their countries..

Your analysis was spot on. The only way we can reverse what all has happened: 1. We have to agree that all blacks have a unified identity. Right now, we are fighting among ourselves (Africans vs. African Americans, Jamaicans vs. Trinidadian & Panamanians, Haitian vs. Dominicans, etc....) 2. We need Education, education, education. We need to build schools that will be centered around black culture, black religion, black history. World history and the role Africans and their descendents played in shaping and defining it.
