Good video. I've known about Afro Peruvian for some years. As I've known about Chinese Peruvian. I used to work with an afro Peruvian some 7 years ago. I knew at first sight that he was Black. But he'd always referred to himself as brown as in the brown Hispanic collective. But one day in middle of a conversation. I'd brought the fact that he's Black. He didn't deny it and said that I was right. Colorism is a big thing down in Peru. And the Black people experienced it. Anyways. Let me finish watching the rest of your video

True enough. Conquistadors were, however, some of the most odious figures in world history so I don't know that it's a good thing that there were a fair number of Black conquistadors in Peru.
@Artemisarrowzz
@Artemisarrowzz Жыл бұрын
It's only silent because you don't know spanish or hispanic history. We don't really care about skin color, and most of us descended from all races. Therefore, the conquistadors being "black" or "white" was irrelevant, and this goes back to the moors and the celts living with the visigoths and those of roman descent alongside the jews. It's like the thing here. Guess what? The Spanish brought african slaves, yet most were not slaves. In fact, most were considered spanish. Heck, the town I come from was even founded by two mulatto families, Medellín. The Spanish didn't even have "colonies", they had provinces. Don't confuse Spanish History and how they treated people with the bs the British pulled, literally killing everyone in the lands if they could or declaring them as inferior, instead of integrating them into a single cultural entity like the Romans and the Spanish did. It's why terms like "afro peruvians", "afro-colombians", "afro brazilians" is looked down on Latinoamérica. What the heck is that? Are they "afro" because their skin is black, despite coming from a multitude of peoples, and the "white" people being of the same blood and exact same ancestors?

@@Artemisarrowzz If these "Spanish" African-descended people were seen as no different than anybody else by the Spanish crown then why were so many of them enslaved (in Peru and throughout Latin America)? Your comment becomes even more absurd when you bring in Colombia, Brazil, etc. Slavery of Africans in Brazil did not end until 1888. Was that how the country showed that they viewed them as fully equal? What about all those Africans who had to escape slavery in Colombia, Belize and elsewhere? One of my friends is president of the Garifuna nation. Why do the Garifuna even exist throughout Latin America if Blacks were always treated just the same as everyone else?

I like your channel, but was disappointed by your ad about olive leaf curing/reducing high blood pressure. In our community, High Blood pressure is the silent killer. People need to see their doctor and take high blood pressure medicine until they are able to get their blood pressure lowered by lifestyle changes. We need to encourage our people, especially our men, to stay on top of their blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes risk, not telling them to take olive leaf. If you want to take olive leaf in combination with a healthy life style, to hopefully prevent high BP, that seems very reasonable. Taking olive leaf to treat extremely high BP that can lead to a massive stroke, is not reasonable.

Dang, I guess it shouldn’t be surprising that Spain used Black auxiliaries along with the native or Indian auxiliaries they had. Everyone’s just trying to survive. Still, Spain was crazy for control. They almost decimated the entire indigenous population in Peru that they had to import African slaves to meet the demand of labor; that’s how much they wanted to quell rebellion. Even when Spain tried to restrict practices that almost was essentially slavery, the Conquistadors living in Peru fought against the Spanish Crown, warring and forcing natives or Indian auxiliaries to fight to continue their exploitation of the natives.

There was also a much more ancient African presence in Peru that dates back at least to the 20th dynasty of Kemet around 1200bc and perhaps earlier. One of the ways we know is that the Peruvian mummification ritual used the exact same formula and process that had developed in Kemet thousands of years before it emerged in Peru.

@@krono5el Not actually. There has just been the problem of European attempts to shrink the timeline of African history in an attempt to hide Africa's true impact on world history. The truth is that the oldest Peruvian mummy is dated around 5860bc and the oldest mummy currently known is an infant buried in Nubia dated to about 7438bc. This correlates to other evidences of Nile valley civilization like Hormaket or the Sphinx which we know is at least 9000 years old. The oldest pyramids are also in the Nile valley

That's an easy mistake to make.The natives with the Olmec statue's features are still around but are pure blooded. Wide noses are for breathing in humid air more easily.Thick lips are for dispersing heat more easily.The Olmecs evolved to have those features. North and South America are huge continents with diverse environments so of course not all Native Americans will look the same just like how not all Europeans, Africans, and Asians look the same. When the Europeans colonized Africa and India the reason why those natives didn't die in mass of disease like the Native Americans is because Europe, Africa, and Asia (India is a part of the Asian continent) have been connected for thousands of years so they were able to build resistance against diseases of each other. They were people visiting before Columbus but the Americas were still isolated from the rest of the world. Columbus was not the first or kindest one to visit the Americas but he was the one to make it connected to the rest of the world which then brought a whole bunch of diseases that the Native Americans immune system had never seen before which killed 90% of the population which made it much more easy for the Europeans to subdue them. To this day there are 77-84 isolated tribes in South America. One of the dangers and the reasons why they're still isolated is because outside diseases will drop their population like flies. We can't go down the same path of the Eurocentrist that tries to claim the stuff of other groups of people, trying to attribute African civilizations and African inventions In Africa to other groups of people that aren't African. Especially when there is so much Badass, interesting African stuff for example Afonso I of Kongo that defeated the Portuguese so badly that they were forced to return thousands of slaves from Brazil. This is very satisfying and a huge achievement because the Portuguese were the one of the countries that made the transatlantic slave trade possible, they were the ones that were doing the raiding parties for stealing African slaves, they were the ones who introduced the idea of African slavery to other European countries, Most of the slaves that went to the Europeans in the new world aka the Western Hemisphere went to the Spanish and Portuguese because they were killing thier African slaves at a much faster rate than the English so most of the African slaves went to Latin America. I see this man as one of my heroes yet he has no movie and still remains so Underrated.
