Jerky starts are just part of owning a ATV/UTV with a CVT that has to engage the belt to get started, just part of it and rarely can be improved without affecting another area of operation with the clutch. How do I know? 21 years of CVT clutching experience.

To start with my Hunterworks clutch on my Kodiak EPS 700 you made for me is AWESOME . I like a hard take the the Kodiak real hard with the Hunterworks modified clutch sheave ,3 mm shims and slug kit. Now Polaris ATV’S Scrambler XP1000 S and Sportsman XP1000 both have 1,000 miles but the Sportsman XP1000 clutch is sticking and I added a shim to the primary clutch spring and it helps but the engagement is also about 2,300 rpm but I like it for drag race and it can do 0-30 mph 1.65 seconds 60ft 1.86 seconds 0-40 2.67 Seconds going up hill . Dragy video DARK KNIGHT stock testing 2.

The thing I don't like about the primary clutch kits is they change the spring to a much higher rate spring and then increase the weights to try and make it work. What they don't tell you is that extra spring pressure will wear those plastic weight carriers much faster than normal. I have a 22 Cforce 600 and what I did to get the effect you are looking for is to replace the primary clutch spring with a lower rate spring using the same stock weights. The stock spring has a 200/400 rating part # 0951-1013, I switched mine out a spring rated at 120/400 part# 0951-1008. This gives quicker upshift at lower rpms but keeps the stock upshift rpm at full throttle. So at 5000 rpm cruising with steady throttle I gained about 5mph vs what it was with the stock spring and I likely decreased wear on the weight holders.

Nice to have a dealer to work with. That is always number one for equipment. I am still rocking a 2000 Kawasaki Prairie 400. My dad bought it new. I bought it from him 8 years ago. The carburetor is annoying, but once I figured out to use 100% gas it has been fine. I often want a new machine, but I look at the price and think "my old machine still works just fine." A belt & clutch will always have some jerkiness when first engaged. Compare this to the Honda automatic transmission in their side by side and you still made the correct decision. Belts are a cheap replacement compared to a full transmission. My RZR 1000 has some jerkiness as well. Every manufacturer drives different to some extent. That’s why they make them for everyone’s budget. Happy trail riding!

We have a uforce 800. It is supposed to have a wet clutch in behind the belt system. I gave always assumed it was the clutch engagement causing the jerk rather than the belt, which only controls the gearing? Are the newer ones using the belt as the clutch? We also have a suzuki vinson which has the same wet clutch and dry belt system. Because it has a wet clutch the belt never slips so it lasts forever. 17 years of abuse on the same belt, virtually never use low gear, and a beautiful smooth take up. Night and day difference to the cfmoto. Cfmoto was cheap though, guess that's why it needed the over run sprag clutch replaced at about 2000km. Suzukis clock stopped working at 36,000km and that was over 10 years ago now, no belt or clutch problems so far. Front drive shaft is their weakness, too much angle on the universals? Needs regular replacement and need top quality parts, it's worth oem for those universals. If I could get a new 2007 vinson it would be well worth while.

I hate to tell you that that clutch was installed incorrectly in the CForce 600 and likely in the UForce as well. When he lowered the helix on the secondary he should have pre tensioned the spring clockwise to the next slider. At least that is what the video shows. Your secondary spring is now having to rotate back to the next slider resulting in poor performance and increased heat as well as being the wrong tension. I’m not claiming to be an expert but I would definitely watch some of the other videos available online to confirm.

As a lifelong snowmobile rider I can tell you the best you can do about jerking is replace the factory cast clutch with a well balanced billet clutch and internals, beyond that you have to learn how to drive your machine and more importantly with any enclosed system you must be diligent in cleaning and maintenance or your just fighting a losing battle. Brand name has nothing to do with it as most don’t manufacture their clutch’s they’re buying them. CF moto is a decent midrange brand but the downside at this point is they don’t offer an extensive assortment of options and accessories, for me most importantly they offer no track options and if you put aftermarket tracks on you have voided the warranty unlike Can-am which offers fully integrated track options with full warranty.
@wayupnort6271
@wayupnort6271 9 ай бұрын
Adam I think a lot of the issue with the jerkiness has to do with what’s called the “pedal map”. This is in the calibration and determines how fast or slow the throttle opens in relationship to how far the actual throttle pedal moves. On many SXS models today they have throttle modes such as work, standard and sport. All those modes are doing is changing how quickly the throttle responds to your pedal input. My suspicion is on your U-force SXS is that calibration is a bit too aggressive. This is why you get used to it and you can learn to be smooth vs. a beginner. You understand that you have to ease into the throttle or be gentle with your inputs in order to get a smooth drive away. I hope that makes sense. Unless CF comes out with an updated calibration you’re pretty much stuck with what you have as clutching will only get you so far. 28 year ATV/UTV/SXS mechanic!👍🏻

I've bought a few inexpensive outdoor toys for the kids and what I've found is a good clutch makes an enormous difference in how the machine performs, especially in situations where you are going up a steep hill, or trying to power over obstacles at low speed. I'm not saying that CFMoto isn't a good machine and isn't adequate to the challenge by any stretch. I'm simply saying that a down-market clutch and a high-end clutch make the world of difference. The inexpensive dirt bike I bought my kids burns out the clutch going up an incline without them even on it. Can't even get started. The used honda dirt bike my buddy bought will take him up the hill from a dig, no problem. That was enough to sell me on quality components. That doesn't mean I will only buy the new name brand, but it does mean I'll prefer a used named brand over a new off-brand and I will consider the longevity of what I'm trying to use it for... I've just gotten to the point where I don't want to fuss with something to save some money. I'll take the time, save up, buy the right thing once, which is hard too do as you get up in the price range of some of these things.

While the new windshield will help, I think you'll still be faced with a venting issue. You've opened up the front to let more air in, but there's no where for the air to flow out. If it had a split back glass you could open or some way to vent air it would be more effective. And because of the direction your door glass opens it's going to try and force even more air into the cab with no way for air to get out if you open them.

Adam, good video. I commented on an older video of yours, as to the quality of CFMoto, and how I stay with name brands, because they are proven. No disrespect to you, but you get what you pay for! My Yamaha is almost 20 years old, never been back to the dealer for any work, runs like new, and I’ve loved it from day one. You have two years on that atv and still are not happy with it. Hope you don’t keep putting money into it to make it “right”. Have you heard the phrase, polishing a turd?

No disrespect but that Yamaha is 20 years old.. try going into a dealership today ATV prices are just nuts they're toys for fun or some work.. with extremely high interest rates people can get 80 to 90% of the fun in a cf-moto vs name brand unit no accessory with out refinancing your house.. a $150 clutch kit vs $100 extra per month for 2 or 3 years is a no brainier

@@joebrown9621 When I bought the Yamaha I could have bought something cheaper then too, but I didn’t. Would be fun to hear what Adam thinks of his machine in 8 or 9 years from now, if he still has it?

You do know CF moto originally started out making a lot of parts for yamaha right?? The 4x4 system and diffs were made by them. Diffs and 4x4 in my Gen 1 cfroce 500 are same exact diffs that were in my 05 Rhino 660.

My 600 is fine stock. I ride pretty hard mind u this is the first wheeler that has had CVT clutch and honestly I'd rather change gears myself This way you can control the RPM's much better and you don't use as much fuel. I find every machine that has CVT clutches rev way high.

So UForce still has a jerk, and 600 is the same as before. So really the only improvement was a new windshield 😬

When a Chinese manufacturer brings out a new product they copy others as cheaply as possible. The parts look the same , but they don’t perform the same As customers complain about an issue, they sell replacement parts to fix that issue. They’re relying on their customers to point out problems rather than engineering a good product from the start.
