Paul wrote this when he was in England, when he was about 23 years old. He wrote it at a rail station waiting for a train. This was between their 1st album that didn't do well & the electric overdub of the Sound of Silence, which made them big. While Paul was in England, Art was getting his Masters Degree in Mathematics. A couple of weeks ago Paul turned 83 years old. Art will be 83 in a couple of weeks. Art & his son, who inherited his fathers voice, have a version of the Sound of Silence, which is magnificent. It's on KZbin.

Interesting notion putting The Boxer as number one favorite !? I would call it about ten. So many great compositions by Paul Simon ...... For Emily whenever I may find her / Cathy's Song / America / Scarborough Fair / Cecilia etc ...... Paul is an icon and treasure in American Music ! Art is a fortunate friend, forfeited that friend and cared only for Art. Watermark album was a good piece of work .... the magic of it was Jimmy Webb songs !
