THIS is legit DIY. Working on the ground, minimal amount of tools. No fancy 100k workshop. This makes me happy to find as a DIY. I always run across the "DIY" where they have thousands in equipment and tools. Thank you.
@OnlyBlix3 жыл бұрын
TBF they're all DYI. The more you get into DYI, the more tools you end up getting. You really just need a circular saw and a drill to build whatever you want. The more tools you add, the easier, more refined, and better finish your build has. For example, she used pocket holes, which is another tool to add refinement to the product.

That's a good moving hack, especially for using moving pods. I plan to pack my 8.5 closets full of clothes in those garment hanging, boxes, but I don't know if they make tall ones for dresses. If the pod leaks, the trash bag will keep them dry.

Go video: Tip from longtime experience with doors, pop the pins, that way for reinstall you just have to put the pins back in. Also use a flat bar driven in under the carpet strip nails perpendicular to tack strips and you can take the whole strip up with only a few bangs on each nail.
@michaelmeinzer58634 жыл бұрын
Same thing I was thinking. This is the second video recently I have seen where they have done this. Door removal takes seconds if you pop the pins.

As I watch from California I realize I'm actually looking into someone else's closet. Unless you're dating someone or married/related that almost never happens. Fascinating to see things like the Green Bay Packers jersey and camo'd baseball cap. drove the point home that I was in someone else's closet. 👍 As for your closet/storage system with the raised floor... impressive. I especially like the Ikea dresser idea as well as the raised floor thing. I think I'll incorporate those ideas into my closet, of course always giving you credit for my creative and innovative ideas.😉 Well done and thank you.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. A few of questions, that will help as I am fixing to start my closet revamp... 1. Is the base build out of treated wood? My understanding is that it is required by code for any wood touching the ground or slab to be treated. 2. Can you give the model # of the Ryobi nail gun you were using? 3. Is there a particular reason for using pocket holes for attaching verticals to the top shelf? Can one use screws ir nails from the top straight into the vertical boa4d? Thanks in advance for anyone answering, and sharing their knowledge.

Great video! TFS 😃 another hack- when taking the door off; take the pins out of the hinges. Then put the pin in the hinge part on the wall. It’s faster & you don’t run the risk of having to re-drill holes in the door. 😬 Edit- that’s for IF you’re putting the door back 😬

Wow, looks great and very good work. The only suggestion I'd have for anyone that replicates this. Try not to glue large pieces of wood to sheet rock. When the wood contracts just a tiny bit, it can put stress on the drywall and even cause small cracks. And if you ever decide to change the space, you'll have a wall that needs a lot of repair. A few pocket hole screws should work.

Thanks for sharing this video with us. I love seeing the before as well as the progress on the after. The before is right in line with the way we outfit closet space in our old house. Now, we are finishing up a new house that still has plenty of opportunity to furnish some space (such our master closet space) and I appreciate seeing some ideas. I'll likely pursue a different route using french cleat panels and hanging trimmed out boxes to maximize customizability (the space is big enough to be its own bedroom), but I can still glean a couple ideas from your videos (gotta get me a pocket hole jig). One tip I would share for anyone pursuing this - If you are going to have dead space (such as in the base), that is a wonderful place for creepy crawlies to gather. No matter how well you seal it, they will find a way in and make it home. I would lay down a treatment of borax to make the space as inhospitable as possible for them.

This is a very interesting project. Video nicely done. The only item I had doubts about was the 2x4 base. Were those 2x4s regular, non-treated wood? I'm very impressed! Some folks have offered tips, and there's always the learning curve with each project. Personally, I would have used a framing nailer for the bases, but the finish nailer should be adequate for this purpose. I would have painted the floor first, to help limit moisture transfer and to make it easier to paint without all the edging at the bases. If you had done the partitions first, then then dressers, you could have hidden the pocket holes on the dresser side of the partition. But hey, everybody's a critic, right? I only wish I could put IKEA stuff together as fast as you. Must be the wine! ; ^) I like your overall concept. I think you've got a nice project here, and it's obvious you did take the time to plan it out. I'm going to go watch part 2 right now!
