Got it in 2013 on a huge powder weekday. No lines and untracked powder on pretty much that entire face. One of the most memorable experiences of my ski career.

I skied it with fresh pow back in 2003. It was great!

I skied in in 2005, it was the most challenging run I did until I skied Kirkwood. Love Homewood though. Lake Tahoe views are better than another resort in the area hands down and it's a throwback hill. It's not developed and has mostly fixed grip chairs. It's certainly worth a visit.

God, we skied Homewood on March 9th 2023 and it was unbelievable. The Quail face was closed, unfortunately, but just to let you know, we got to the ski area at 9:00 and there was no one there, like a dozen cars in the parking lot. We lapped the face 5 times and literally couldn't see where I was skiing it was so deep. My cousin said all he could see was a ball of snow flying down the mountain. Then we hit Rainbow Ridge and I got fresh lines on every run, face shots on every turn and I don't mean some little dust in your face, I mean like someone hit you with a snow blower. Coming back to the lodge at the end of the day, the face was finally all tracked out, so I traversed over to the trees on skier's right and what?! Totally fresh pow! I mean, right in front of the base lodge, bottomless untract powder all the way down the face at the end of the day? I'm a believer. My friend works at Palisades and he stoked me with free passes. We waited in line for two hours and got first chair on Red Dog and it was unbelievable, deepest powder I've ever skied, freaked me out because I couldn't breath, but after 3 runs, that mountain was done. So you don't have to take a deep breath before you drop in at Homewood, like you do off some KT runs, but man, fresh powder all day? I'm sold.

My second day on snowboard was here in about a foot and a half of new snow. I switched to skis for the afternoon. Nice little hill. It was dumping snow the day I got there and you could just barely see the Lake at the very bottom. I went over to Quail on snowboard for my last run of the morning. Went over there again on skis. Worthy.

Homewood as the best views of Tahoe of any resort up there. The skiing is mostly intermediate.

Few questions for ya! 1.) How hard would you say this run is compared to the more challenging runs at Heavenly, Kirkwood, and Northstar such as Mott Canyon, The Wall, etc... 2.) Do you remember how long the hike in and the hike out took? Thanks a lot! Loving this channel!
@PeakRankings3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, and thanks for watching! Happy to answer your questions: 1. This run was certainly an expert pitch, and it's tougher than anything Northstar has to offer. But Heavenly's Mott/Killebrew Canyons and several Kirkwood areas contain steeper, more technical terrain. 2. The hike was about 5 minutes there and 15 minutes out (although if you cut over at the right time, you can cut the hike-out down to maybe 10 minutes).

Its sad that this ski area is struggling to survive, development plans are falling through and they are just not getting enough business

They're going private. Next year, 2024, you'll have to be a member to ski there, but you know what? I can't even imagine, you could get fresh lines for days after a storm, totally worth membership.
