I'm a local and I don't like to ride Mott when conditions are like that, it's more of a challenge thing than a fun thing. Props to dropping in and riding it!! Come back on a powder day and it's the best!

any recommendations at heavenly for someone getting into double blacks? havent been to mott or killebrew canyon yet but ive done most of the black slopes as well as gunbarrel & east bowl pretty comfortably
@bigslacker6662 жыл бұрын
@@707Pascal If you can ski gunbarrel comfortably I would say go enjoy any of the awesome tree skiing. Any of the trees/glades off of skyline trail, ares woods, dipper woods, trees off of north bowl etc. If you're having fun and in control in there you're fine to go check out mott. Go with a buddy and have fun!

@dre3951 Жыл бұрын
@@707Pascal Mott or Killebrew on a powder day (or shortly after good snow) is easier than Gunbarrel on a normal day. So wait for good conditions and just do it. On Mott, the more shaded portions are easier due to better snow, except up close to gate 1 the steepness rules. But down in the bowl near gates 5 and 6, exposure makes the snow not so good and it can be tougher. Killebrew - the only tougher part is the traverse out at the bottom, especially tough on a snowboard.

Know the mountain well. Was heading to upper Mott gate out of Milky glade's 3 week's back when my season ended. Sitting around missing my Heavenly, been skiing the mountain for 30 year's, first time she won. Killibrew goes harsh, hold back and slow down on the transverse out, look to the top of Olympic upper gate, to the right off lift. Fire Break gate stay high transverse to burn trees. Rare view. Thanks for the ride along.

If you're looking for more of a challenge then you should try pipeline or stalling chute in Killebrew. Pipeline is a lot more forgiving but Stateline is no a no fall zone so really steep and narrow.

Next time I go I'm definitely gonna check out Killebrew!

I can’t tell you how many times I accidentally went outside boundaries at the end of killbrew. That stateline trail hides everytime I come down the mountain. And it is absolutely no fun to be in the middle of nowhere with a damn foot of pow in freestyle skis

Heavenly is weird like that. Most of it is fairly flat with the most interesting thing being the views of the lake. Then mott and killebrew are like the exact opposite and cranks the steepness up to 11. Unfortunately its been nothing but dust on crust every time I've visited. =(

Instead of skidding down the mountain- try skiing. Carve. Jump turn if it is that steep and icy. You picked up too much speed because you pointed the skis down and glided- even 2 seconds will gain you too much speed, that you then desperately tried to scrub off by skidding. I'm sure you ski good enough to get by but you would be very happy if you treated yourself to some advanced lessons. Having an instructor actually watch you live and critique your technique is invaluable. It can also go a long way to help keep you safe.
@TheBagOTricks2 жыл бұрын
Yeah man I have no idea how to ski unfortunately
@MOAB-UT2 жыл бұрын
@@TheBagOTricks Don't take my well intended comment the wrong way. I'm just saying there's better technique you could use to slide down the hill. Yes I was a ski instructor out west so I know what I'm talking about. Put the ego aside and seek to improve. I'm skiing over 30 years have been an instructor at top resorts and I still take lessons so chill. But it's still a free country should do whatever you want man.. Nice video thanks for sharing.

Sliding down steeps sideways on ice? I’m good off that… floating down balls deep in the POW, now that’s FUN! You all enjoy those jam packed weekends now… I’ll be here enjoying my Monday through Friday’s with the rest of the locals! Hell! Most LONG time locals (second home owners don’t count…) stay away from that mountain all together… the only reason I went there so often was because I worked there for 10 years. Love the mountain. Hate the swarms of “pretty people” with all their shiny new gear… Flat?? It’s a little slow going on the cat track from Cali to Nevada, but the rest of the mountain is far from flat! Of course you think it’s flat when you are traversing the entire run back and forth and getting in everyone’s way!! 🤬Try pointing your ski’s downhill! You can always tell who the real dummies/jerks are by how they like to stop and chill in the middle of the run like they own the place! Gotta thank Vail and all the stupid touron’s for turning the place into Disneyland!🤮
