Lots of good memories for me, when a was a little kid. Some 45 years later, and I yearn for this peace. A lovely meal, a worm house, a place where we cooked and gathered to eat. Give me this any day. Some people have no idea, how great, these simple things, from a wood stove.

Thank you. What a beautiful picture into the warmth of your family. We are building a last house for ourselves, calling it the "one we will retire in", and our central item in the kitchen will be a wood cook stove, similar to what you have. We always had a woodstove, but primarily for heating. This time I want to cook and bake on it/in it. As a life long bread baker I can't wait what the first loaf of bread out of that stove will taste like. Thank you again. One czech/american grandma.

The home stove is much more than a mere stove Caught in it's warm gliow are the faces of a very close knit and contented family, which is giving proud continuity to the solid values of a simple lifestyle. Grandfather's lilting voice lends rich resonance to this video. Agree with your discussion on losing our connection with nature, fire and food (real food). I can remember going to England to see my Nan when I was little and she had a woodstove. I would wake up to this glorious aroma of wood burning and the warmth it gave the house. Walking towards the kitchen I would be greeted with a mug of Horlicks and would proceed to sit on the high stool watching her cook on the woodstove. Her kitchen was my favorite place and I've never forgotten about her woodstove and have always wanted one. Your videos bring me joy.

Powerful thing for children to see their parents freely giving one of the most important things: time

Technology is very much a double-edged sword... 😢
@robertomurri12783 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with improvements. Just depends on what suits ones lifestyle, or how it can benefit. I see comments saying this is the life, technology has taken away. I think...no wait. In my opinion the ppl that say that are either depressed with their life, or have not made an effort to improve their life. I have a great time with my family! Home cooked meals, movies on my dads theater room, no swimming pool, but we don't mind that.
@homewoodstoves3 жыл бұрын
@@robertomurri1278 Sure, and I don't think anyone is denying that modern technologies have brought about benefits: the wonder of instant communication, or ease of transportation, or whatever - but every new convenient technology comes with a cost, and I am not convinced that our species is wired very well to manage them, or done that cost/benefit analysis with any intentionality. So for example smartphones are obviously a technological marvel, incredible and amazing for easily looking up anything, or contacting with anyone instantly anywhere in the world... But when that interaction increasingly starts to comes at the expense of the book on the shelf, or the person in front of you, or the opportunity to get outside and do something, or that looking up becomes a crutch that pacifies us and stops us from striving to achieve what we want in our own lives or in the real world, or the social interactions start to turn into false/performative, feel-good dopamine hits (most of social media - and my biggest worry about YT), and the technology that is supposed to be bringing us together instead atomises and socially isolates us, I can very strongly empathise with the people that just wish they'd never been invented. But I mean, I build old-fashioned cast-iron cooking stoves, so... 😂
@kameliasali96393 жыл бұрын
@@robertomurri1278 i agree with the two states you mentioned, but i think things would be much interesting if we had more direct touch with them, for instance the cookstove in this video, it seems just like a cooking tool, but actually it represents family, enjoyement, passion and so many beautiful vibes that can't be felt with a microwave lol, i've read somewhere that nowdays man can do anything until electricity cuts off, and that's so true.

I love the cookstove and that pork was so tender. What a beautiful life you live. Its lovely to see the children playing board games rather than looking at a screen all day.

That's a lovely stove. The glass showing the fire within adds a pleasant touch. Nice work!

Having a window on the firebox was David's first starting point when designing these stoves - not only is it so helpful for being able to monitor what the fire is doing and so eliminate the need to constantly be inefficiently opening the door and losing heat, but you have the added bonus of getting to enjoy the flames! 🧡🔥🔥
