Awesome breakdown! Couple of notes: - Alive already existed on The New Wave EP in 1994 and wasn't "remixed" to be put on Homework - the title "Alive 2007" is more of a reference to their first live album "Alive 1997" which was a reference to the track Alive. - That Wax Poetics interview is from 2013 not 2021 - The dudes with huge shoulders in the Around The World music video are supposed to be Jocks - Also the current thumbnail is not Daft Punk, those are cosplayers

What’s cool about Thomas and Guy-Manuel never forgot their roots and especially their best friend Laurent and even appeared as Daft Punk with Phoenix during their tour in 2010, they only appeared at Madison Square Garden and it would be their final performance for a paying audience

Respect for putting or helping put that homage performance together. That's unique and personal, love it. I had this album before discovery came out and there was something special about that time period. Maybe it's because rave scenes still felt like rave scenes and not over-produced nonsense and promotional tie-ins posing as a rave. This took me back ❤

"I have HOMEWORK on vinyl and Discovery!" Let's be honest, the only two DP albums worth discussing. And yes, I'm including Random Access Memories in this!
@ezekieldeblaay
@ezekieldeblaay Ай бұрын
@@TimWrightDJI don’t think that’s true - While those two albums are their best work, Human after all and Random Access Memories are really important. Human after all ushered in an era where heavier electronic music entered the mainstream. Genres like dubstep would become prevalent in the late 00’s and early 10’s, and edm would get heavier as a whole in the blog house era. The Alive 2007 show proved how that kind of music worked. RAM doesn’t get enough credit for shaping a lot modern pop. This was the first major project to “go back” and reach into the sounds of disco, funk, and soft rock from the 70’s + 80’s. The amount of records now that reach back is higher than ever. The best selling single of all time, The weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” is a 80’s throwback, as well as the rest of the album. Dua Lipa’s “Future Nostalgia” took over and is based on the same tropes of RAM. Hell, the biggest song in the world as of now, “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter, is a throwback to disco. Just to name a few… I agree that Homework and Discovery matter the most to electronic music, but the other albums are worth it too in my Opinion. Every release, while not perfect, was a cultural reset for the music zeitgeist.

you pronounced them to my German ears very right. :D I love your channel because, you don't cover just one genre, you put in so much effort and joy that it's fun to watch. Love it. Wait a minute, wasn't Good Time also the foundation to Queen's - Another one bites the dust? Except the ending, which was cut off obviously due to copyright reasons? If no one realized this, I did, CHEERS. We all got Bach'd, oh my goshies, I thought Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a freaky nerd, but even Bach? Hold my chords. Okay,. another footnote on that comment, but I wanna see this whole recreation and enjoy it in the fullest. This is my last editorial to this comment, I swear. Darn it, he got me at the end. I love your content man. I learn tons of stuff from it.

Homework was never topped by other DP albums,IMO. It was groundbreaking and didn't conform to any rules. I bet Rollin' & Scratchin' still blows minds to first time listeners today,and Revolution 909 or Around the World still can hold their own on the dance floor after almost 30 years.

Homework is an ode to the music they were influenced by, but foremost an album for the dance floor. And that’s maybe why sometimes it’s not as highly rated as say discovery, which is more an album for listening. But at underground parties in the 90ies tracks like rollin’ and scratching and rock ‘n roll devastated dance floors. It showed daft punks DIY punk approach to house.

I don't consider RAM to be a masterpiece. Not only do I not like the album, but I don't like a single song from it. It makes Human After All sound like a masterpiece in comparison. Homework and Discovery are absolute gold, but RAM is just boring and fells like it was made to appeal to the mainstream.
