Cowards, one and all, Turning tail to FLEE from a malignant cancer set on consuming the galaxy, concerned ONLY for their own survival, not even deigning to ANSWER hails, not even to OFFER the "lesser" races access to their exo-galactic gate, until the Somtaw were FORCED into attacking the Hypergate in order to make them willing to even SPEAK. you're DAMNED RIGHT Fleet Command was right to Call them on this, as he finally SNAPPED after weeks/months of Constant combat, FIGHTING back despite being a Civilian, or at best Rear-echelon material at time of embankment, with Minimal military training and rightfully scared out of his own Equatorial hell-cursed mind! @@TheLongasen nope... because Beast infection is really a fate worse than death to them. They are still conscious, but prisoners in their own bodies, while they value what they are above all else. It's bad enough that the first Bentusi ship who started to be infected blew itself up as soon as it understood what was happening. They are mostly fine with being killed: being infected is another matter entirely. And the Beast KNOWS it. Even at the climax of the fight, they would rather give their best technology to their allies rather than risk contact with the Beast, in stark contrast with how they act if they face any other enemy, in which case they will fight to the bitter end.

I wanted to say that I prefer the german dub at first, but then Fleet Command delivered its "You're killing us! ..." speech. Sent shivers down my spine. Still, for the rest of the game, the german voices sound perfectly out of place, just like the whole concept of a miner race going all Qwaar-Jet on the effin' Empire and Beast. Also, +1 for Adam West.

Impressive playthrough with a minimal fleet! I should one day upload my own video, it's actually *possible* to kill all but 2-3 invulnerable Bentusi stations with a legit fleet, without even losing a *single* major ship to trigger the dialogue. One of the ultimate campaign achievements in the HWC as I consider. THAT is what I call "shaming the unbound" xD
@SkarmoryThePG5 жыл бұрын
Hah, thank you. This was mostly showing the mission off - in my actual playthrough, the only ship I lost was a captured frigate or destroyer, I forget which.
@grandgao39845 жыл бұрын
@@SkarmoryThePG xD yeah I think the combat *ends* once one or two of your capital ships go down to Bentusi fire (and the shaming begins), which why it's so hard to overpower the Bentusi fleet

Kadeshi have extremely limited numbers and tactics. They couldn't even take down the fledgeling Mothership's fleet. The Beast would devour their Garden and their technology.

@@michaelandreipalon359I can give you the answer to that when you look at Homeworld 2 and you saw how Karen was bound to the ship itself that's what they're like they're kind of merge with the ship just like how Karen was merged with the ship's fleet control system until she got off of it at the end of Homeworld 2 and became unbound they're bound to the ship itself
@SkarmoryThePG14 жыл бұрын
@Swordinator99 I know, actually. On my actual playthrough, I managed to lose pretty much nothing, by sending my carriers as far away (a station chased them), while sending my captured destroyers (which I didn't want any more as I had Destroyers/Dreadnaughts of my own) off to die. No losses.

Those Super Acolytes cut through everything like knife through butter.
I can hear more than a little of John Sheridan in the captain's speech, I swear they sound so similar! Am I just imagining this? Scott Swanson and Bruce Boxleitner are both from Illinois, after all!

I played this game three times, and every time I got to this mission, my fleet would get wiped out and the Kun-Laan severely damaged. I never could figure out what the trigger was to get the Bentusi to stop attacking me after I destroyed the gate... -_-;

You could argue that it was only a tiny portion of the Kadeshi fleet, as you only see a relatively small amount.

@SkarmoryThePG14 жыл бұрын
@Lonewanderer6666 Very doable. It's impossible to complete the mission without ANY losses, because as far as I know, the actual shaming only happens after you lose a capship past a certain point. Lucky me, I had those salvaged destroyers I wanted to get rid of anyway.

@SkarmoryThePG Thanks, I'll try that next time. So, just make sure a frigate is attacked first before any other ship, and they'll stop there? BTW, I LOVE Swarm Frigates, because those drones are so versatile if you can keep them from docking after destroying a ship. Death by a thousand cuts, bitches! I also liked ACVs and Destroyers. I wish repair beams weren't so slow though! Many tactics I used from HW1 just didn't work here.

that would be a kind of interesting approach to a movie. showing just the expanse of space and structures built in it kind of like homeworld was played. but i don't think that would translate too well. a space odyssey tried to do that. but to me the best scenes were the ones where you could see the actors and heard their dialog.

Nice attempt, despite this video being... 11 years old, DAMNIT!! However, back in there, I remember being able to take down TWO trading ships before the "you are killing us" speech. Even more, when a friend (back in 2004? or so, when I had friends) told me "I just took one ship by one and feed them to the Bentusi until I got the speech" I REALLY should do a full replay (in 2020!!) about this whole thing and take two, even THREE trading ships!!
@SkarmoryThePG4 жыл бұрын
Efficiency wasn't my concern in this playthrough. In the actual one, through judicious running away I have lost exactly one ship, and that only because it was a trigger for the plot.
@michaelandreipalon3592 жыл бұрын
So, how went the replay?
@SkarmoryThePG13 жыл бұрын
@EVAUnit4A No. My tactic was, first, dock all fighters and corvettes, except for Workers. Once you blow the Gate, set all capital ships to scatter and get the hell out of Dodge. A Bentusi Trade Station is as slow as your slowest ship, the Carrier. After a bit of time has passed, order an expendable ship to turn back and fight. Once that dies, the shaming should trigger. And I am a great fan of Swarm Frigates too. Infinite range, good anti-everything. I kept four until the very, very end.
