Story 1: Definitely one of the better stories here. Although the dad was a jerk, it's heartwarming to see that he genuinely regrets his actions, and wish to change and become a better person. Story 2: Docking half a day pay for leaving 15 minutes isn't just a low blow. It would be flat out illegal in a LOT of places in the world. Story 3: The only kind of tatoo I would ask to cover is if the tatoo shows something obscene or offencive. Someone having a tatoo showing their kids name or deceased pet? Sure! But a naked woman or a swastika? Yeah... no, better cover that up.

On the step sister story that one disgusted me, my parents taught me that family is family and people I need to protect. I've had step cousins who lived with me for years when they first came and lived with us. I worked as a service technician in HVAC. I went to customers homes to fix their heat and air conditioning. We server a wide area that included a fair amount of rural area. You’d directions like “turn right at so and so’s house”. Not knowing who so and so is, these directions didn’t help much. Then Map Quest came along. The dispatcher would look up directions on the office computer and relay them to the field techs. We had maps in the trucks, but they weren’t always helpful as Map Quest in some areas. Then GPS came along. A friend bought one showed it to me. I loved it and bought one for work. Now, GPS will not always plot the shortest route. It looks to plot the fastest route So, if you can get somewhere via side streets full of traffic lights and stop signs or an expressway, it will pick the expressway. Out dispatcher kept wanting to give me Map Quest directions. From Map Quest, she’d look for the shortest route. She could not understand how a longer route could get you somewhere faster. She also said it used more gas, dismissing that sitting at stop signs and traffic lights wasted gas. She told the owner of the company that he should ban me from using my GPS. Once I showed him how it worked, he overrode the dispatcher’s objections.

Since most of y'all weren't around in the 70s and I was, it was so different. Everything was different and in constant flux. Now that I am older we see what is most important from the perspective most of our life is over. We aren't 10 feet tall and bullet proof. Let me put this in better perspective. We were segregated in school until 1970. Smoking was everywhere including hospitals. Leaded gas still existed. Understand that it was not the same.

1st poster, I actually would agree with him on the nurse putting in the catheter being a male, I am just super awkward, though, and would be really uncomfortable with a female doing that but I am very glad he grew as a person at a time when most people are so set in their ways in their lives. Story 2: Loyalty indeed works both ways. If the company doesn't appreciate what OP does and screws him over like that, they don't deserve any sympathy or loyalty from their workers. Story 5: The parents are being creepy for trying to dictate the child wishes of their children. The sister was not out of line at all imo nor did she screw over OP, idk how he came to that conclusion. He needs to stand up for himself, and not expect his sister to protect him. Story 6: The mom clearly wanted to make sure her children were well off. If she really did want the aunt to have something, it'd indeed be in the will. The mother isn't obligated to care for the aunt in the first place, the aunts are just being entitled. Story 7: It's very clear that the parents want to force their children to create this picture perfect situation for them. You can't force people to like each other and the mother is insane for trying. Story 8: Tom is being an absolute asshole, I probably would've punched him in the face if he lied about me, then tried to manipulate me and called me a freak.

Story six- , if your mother wanted to help your aunts, she would have made provisions in her will for them. So live your own life, block them, because they just want to wear you down to give away your mothers hard earned and Willed money. Story 7 - Your mother and step-father are living in a hallmark movie. I hated my sister, my full blood sister, with a passion from a young age. Even now that I am 60 years old, I have no desire to reach out to her, seeing that I have only seen her once (at my daughters wedding) in 20+ years. If the dislike is there, it's there and having parents push the relationship onto the children, is not helping anyone.

Last story: I actually gotta disagree with this “your kid likes unconventional nature themed names. There’s nothing wrong with that.” Except depending on the name, there is. The name is something the child will have to carry with them for a long time and depending on the name, it is perfect bullying material. Kids are vicious and will take shots at anything they can. So while Tom is a jerk for lying. The essence of his point is not wrong. Names are important and the odd names will always get picked on/cause issues.

Any place I ever worked if it was a 50-minute issue the most you would be docked as an hour a half a day and I worked at a union shop you were docked by the 15 minutes if you came in a minute late you are. 15 if you came in 17 minutes late you were docked off an hour and so on have a day is really extreme let alone the fact that he gave all the extra free time beforehand

I have a crazy story from when i was around 7 i had just moved and was pretty upset of leaving my old friends and i soon had settled down and had a small group of friends i was mostly close to let's call them B and K so after one month B started to be distant and wouldn’t talk to me so i tried to talk to K but B pulled her away and glared at me a few days later i noticed a few girls in my year level looking and snickering and i didn’t understand i then saw B and K showing some girls this book i looked horrified when i saw the title it was called why i hate :my name and i saw the book and it was full of very harsh and terrible comments which i would never be able to repeat here B started laughing at me K started watching and didn’t talk to me them one of my teachers came over and i hoped she would do something then this happened.. My teacher saw the book took it then left B received no punishment and kept on snickering and i was completely embarrassed and was crying while others laughed around me so i decided to uninvite her to my 8th b-day and when i see her she wouldn’t talk to me and my other friends said i was a jerk for not inviting her i’m thinking about this day and i have one question am i the jerk?
