Smudger has always been one of my favorite characters for some reason. He just made me laugh as a kid. I can remember hearing him do his trademark HEHEHEHEHEEHEHEH laugh.

This is awsome, I'd reccomend to make him a rough rider by gently sanding away a bit of one of his front wheels to make him bounce around a bit but dont sand too much or else he might derail constantly. 👍

Fact: in the railway series he was called stanley an american engine and in the book he was turned into a generator then broke down and he was the reason why duke's railway closed down then he was bought and never seen again

There are some good options on market now to be honest and it was enough to get me to dive into it via converting Skarloey into Talyllyn. For example some of the engines to be on market or be announced for market include: Bachmann Thomas: *Skarloey *Rheneas (orange and yellow variants) *Rusty *Peter Sam (announced) (Obviously Skarloey and Rheneas can be converted into Tayllyn and Dolgoch and hopefully Peter Sam will be close enough to Edward Thomas and Corris 7 to make that conversion too!) Bachmann UK: *Baldwin 10-12-D *Quarry Hunslet (announced) Peco/Kato: * Small George England (announced) [Duke's IRL basis] * Double Fairlie (announced) Heljan: Baldwin 2-6-2T Baldwin 2-4-2T(announced) Basically, enough models are on market or will soon be you can easily do the Welsh roads like the Talyllyn, Corris or Ffestiniog; while also being able to capture the Lynton and Barnstaple pretty well to with Heljan's stuff. Its amazing because as of 6 years ago there was almost nothing available commercially in this scale until the Baldwin 10-12-D and Skarloey came out, starting the snowball effect that opened OO9's floodgate wide open.

Its all compatible with N-gauge track although PECO has a line dedicated to OO9 with properly sized ties (ermm, I mean sleepers) with several turnouts (ermm, points), set track curves and flex track options. For quick set up, Bachmann EZ-Track is good too and I think KATO has a similar system as well in N-gauge. But the best looking due to the sleeper size and spacing by far is PECO's line.

Trainboy maybe you should get a used wooden railway smudger and cut the face from that so you can have a different expression, but since I don’t own any 009 models, I don’t know the size, but I have got the wooden smudger, and it’s face is pretty small, so it could work
