3:15 SPILLAGE! Just replaced my O-Ring guided by this video. Easy job. Took me less than 30mins. My old ring was flat and brittle. Gonna give it a couple days to dry up and see if it still leaks. I'm highly optimistic. Thank you for this. It's 6 years in the future and the O-Ring cost me $6... Inflation!

@@Victor_Stones It worked!!! I still had another minor leak from around the timing belt area, but this fixed the leak on the passenger side. I also changed the VTech solenoid gaskets.

Im getting ready to do this on my 2000 accord, great video. Mines been on there for 356k miles so I don't think mine owes me anything more either.
@1peanut Жыл бұрын
There is also a seal inside the distributor on the shaft. That one usually leaks.
@Ottonic67 жыл бұрын
No, if oil leaked through and out the cap you don't have to replace the whole distributor. There is a seal on the inside that can be replaced to keep oil from getting into it. Yes it is more work, but it is an easy r & r...

hmm, you are the first to point out it can leak from inside the cap or it could be the outside O ring. This helps a lot so now I can narrow down my issue thank you again

Thank you for the video I believe you did an awesome job the only thing that I did different was to use a sharpie to mark the distributor for realignment just to make sure ( Bottom line you saved me $100.00 in labor cost )
@Buckwsr3 жыл бұрын
The sharpie is a great idea. I simply installed the distributor back in the exact same spot, as the marks from the bolt made it obvious. Glad you got the job done!

How come distributor only gots 2 bolt's into cylinder head but there's a 3rd bolt hole on top of the triangle looking bolt diagram with no bolt in it .. does it mean I got the wrong dizzy for my engine? Help please

I already replaced the gaskets on the Vtec module and that didn't stop the oil leak, so now I'm gonna try this, did this fix your oil leak, cause it looks like your car has all the oil marks in the same spot mine has them, will appreciate if you can reply back if this O-ring fixed your oil leak, thanks
@Buckwsr4 жыл бұрын
It was not my car, but a friend's. She continued to drive the car for quite some time, and she never mentioned on-going oil leaks. Since it's an easy fix and an inexpensive part, you might as well give it a try.

@@albertalvarez5901 did it work for you as well?
@albertalvarez59013 жыл бұрын
@@Sparksxz20 It did fix that side of the leak and now that side is clean of oil, but now I found another one on the other side by the belts, water pump area that looks a little harder but I think I could do it with plenty of time.
@Sparksxz203 жыл бұрын
@@albertalvarez5901 thanks for the reply. I just bought a 2000 Honda Accord and I see a lot of oil and gunk. I’m thinking it might be the Valve Cover gaskets though because it’s on all for sides.
@thatguyfromca3 жыл бұрын
so you didn't have to worry about the alignment of the distributor when you pulled it out? I read something that said you had to be careful to line it up the same way when putting it back on
@Buckwsr3 жыл бұрын
I simply put the distributor back in the exact same spot, as the marks from the bolt made it obvious where it had been.
