This was the BEST instructional video for Accord 03-07 headliner repair I've ever seen. You give us the little tricks on how to get the visor clips out and you show every step of the way. A lot of videos just skip over the important steps like popping off the headliner without having to remove the pillar covers or not having to remove the door seals. This was way awesome, man!

Sure glad I watched this before messing around the air bags removing the pillar covers. Really good job explaining the details of how to remove, recover and reinstall. You didn’t even need to disconnect the battery this way! Love my paid for 2007 4cyl EX /170,000. Runs great, freezing a/c, great mileage and super dependable. I HATE CAR PAYMENTS!!!

Ditto here! My husband and I did this project today on my 07 Accord. Everything was as you demonstrated. It takes a little patience, but the headliner looks beautiful. My only tip is to be careful that you don’t get glue on your hands and inadvertently get glue on the finished side of the headliner. I made this mistake, but thankfully it isn’t in a noticeable spot. When you glue down the headliner, do you not leave some extra fabric to wrap under the spots where the pillars will be? It looks like you trimmed those areas right to the edge of the headliner. Whereas you seemed to have left about an 1” of extra fabric to wrap and glue around the other parts of the headliner edges. Thanks for the response and for the instructions.

@@pauld1767 great question Paul. I cut it flush because the pillars in most cases will cover that area and seal it from air getting underneath the board. Also if the fabric and board are too thick. The pillars may not sit as flush as they should. The areas where nothing is covering the edges are the most important to wrap to keep the air from getting underneath the fabric. Yes the board bend very well and will not harm the liner at all. You can just man handle it back into place and you don't have to remove the pillar post. Marcus

It was hard to tell from the video where you wrapped on the edges, and where you did not wrap. The width of the wrap looks like about 1 inch. Is that correct? It looked like you did not wrap the edges where the headliner goes under the left and right "pillars". Is that right? Anywhere else. Why did you not wrap those areas?

The main goal of wrapping the edges is to keep the air from getting underneath. The pillars cover the area that was not wrapped and keep the air from getting underneath. Also this is only if the pillar actually covers it and not just push up against it. Great question my apologies for overlooking it in the beginning. Marcus

I used a plastic bristle scrub brush to remove the old foam. All the foam came off cleanly, but do I need to go over it with a wire brush or sandpaper in order to prepare the surface (provide what painters call "tooth")?

I would not recommend it. The dead foam has to removed to create the best bond to the board. Two things the glue will tend to bleed thru the fabric because the foam is not there and the glue on top of the dead foam will cause lumps and be difficult for the new liner to lay flat once you do attempt the replacement. I think they are ok Zachary, but you don't really need a lot of pressure, just a folded hand towel or even the edge of your hand can do the trick. I usually just use a cut off piece of headliner since I have some much laying around. Marcus

Yes the corner can be put back on if you have them. Flip the board over on the side opposite the headliner side. You can use duck tape or a hand stapler if it's a small corner. Or use a small piece of headliner. Cut it to the size of the broken piece an little bit more towards the rest of the board to apply a bandaid.

Great question Embeaston. Shove it in one side of the car pillars and reach in the center light hole with one hand and while holding the other side of the board (not shoved in the pillars) pull done in the center of the board and the board will flex into a bow shape allowing you to place it in the other side. Dang those tapes that hold and coordinate the wires would have helped my reinstall. Sadly it all fell off the board and sticked to the wires dangling instead of the board and drove like that for a few weeks. Having so much trouble reinstalling. I cannot get the middle sun glass holder/center dome light into place as if I tighten it too much the lights stop working. I also am having trouble reinstalling the passenger sun visors. Just won't position itself to how it was before. But great video though.

I accidentally sprayed a little adhesive on the good side… It’s the 3M high temp. And it doesn’t wanna come off… Any suggestions? EDIT: The great internet says mineral spirits…

I did laminate countertops and bought many 5 gallon pails of contact cement. Take a clean WHITE BAR MOP TOWEL (Dollar Tree) rolled up in a ball and sparingly moisten it with lacquer thinner. Gently ‘brush’ the finished side of the headliner and be careful not to ‘wet’ it. The contact cement will roll up into little pills the you can lift off. If you have contact cement soaked through from the backside forget everything you just read.

Hello Phillip, The foam backing is already attached to the new liner and ready to be glued down once the board is cleaned. Marcus

Quick tip, DO NOT FOLLOW the directions on the can! Do not allow the product to tack up before you lay the headliner; it will instantly create wrinkles and your material will be ruined. I'm having to peel mine off and order new liner and glue 👎
