A few tips: 1. Make sure to glue and smoothen properly, do not, I repeat do not put the fabric on the glue in one instance. Go slow and make sure you do not have any folds or wrinkles. I have a wrinkle and it ruins the whole look. Trust me, be careful as that glue will not give you any room to remove and re-install. 2. The B pillars, between two doors, are easy to move if ya need, just pull the two panels back to form a triangle. They will unhinge and the top grey one will fall, later when reinstalling form a triangle and just put them from the vertex straight back in (make sure hinges are aligned). 3. The lights will not turn on when the screws are taken off so.. don't worry! 4. Make sure you clean the old headliner COMPLETELY! It is really dirty, I found a rag and your bare hands can work (for mine at least) 5. The headliner is made of foam so be careful when getting it out of the car, also there will be wires connected with tape at the top un-tape it and you can always re-tape later (the wires are for the lights) 6. When cutting holes for handles and stuff make sure you make the holes big enough almost as big as the whole since you need to get the screws and bolts through. Leave a like if this helps!

Yeah you say don't put it on the fabric as well but 95% of people put it on the fabric and it seems to hold if you know anything about adhesive materials when you have it on both materials from the stronger Bond I mean but who am I I'm just a guy that you know has been doing things for years on his own trying new things the find out what works best but apparently you know better than everyone

He didnt say dont put the glue on the fabric. He said dont do it all at once. Instead do it a little at a time, instead of spreading it over the entire thing and it starts drying too quickly.@@stonerzz1

Very informative. I have always heard that when touching the fabric its recommended to wear latex gloves. Somehow the oil from your hand actually is one of the reasons headliners fail. Don’t know if true or not but the video is fantastic

I get my supplies from a local upholstery supply shop, the glue is Weldwood brand industrial glue, and it only takes about 5 to 10 minutes to set, it sprays on wet then becomes tacky after about a minute, wich is when you apply the new liner and then let it set
@210jmo5 жыл бұрын
3 questions: -how many yards of fabric did you have to get?I have an accord and i live in SA too, am going to check out the place you mentioned. -can you remove all the old foam with just a wire brush? i don't have professional tools -did you wait overnight for the glue to dry or just pop it back in? I'm going to have to try the 3M headliner adhesive
@top-stitchprojects69795 жыл бұрын
I used 2 yards for this project, yes you can remove the old foam with just a wire brush, the glue i use sets after just a few minutes, although you might want to follow the instructions on the glue you purchase.
@MegaJap36 жыл бұрын
When you removed the old foam, there is a tacky residue left behind. Did you, or do you need to, use a degreaser to clean the headliner from the old glue residue before using the new glue?
@top-stitchprojects69796 жыл бұрын
If the old glue residue is too thick and deteriorated, then yes it will have to be removed with a solution, but most of the time it simply comes off with the old foam no problem.
@MegaJap36 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Your video was very helpful. I'm not too sure about the glue though. All of the foam came off with a stiff brush, but the glue residue is tacky but not very thick.
@top-stitchprojects69796 жыл бұрын
Grab a cloth and remove what you can before applying the new glue. Also don't be afraid to use a generous amounts of glue to make a long lasting bond.

My daughter had a 2005 Honda Accord and the headliner was replaced by the original owners. She ended up upgrading to a 2012 and the headliner started falling off. I've seen this talked about on the Honda Accord forums. Apparently, Honda uses cheap glue when it comes to the headliners. I still haven't had it done. I haven't had much time. I need to call around to see if I can get some estimates. @@user-bj4nu4jf4d

I'm assuming it should work if its a multipurpose air gun, but the volume of the container attached doesn't hold much, you might have to refill several times to completely cover the liner shell and material.

I personally don't hold to much faith in the spray can adhesives (because of past experiences) the weldwood or other industrial strength glues are what i use for headliners to guarantee a strong permanent bond
