230000km=360000 miles? Are you sure? The k24 is an very good engine, but on this accord generation (heavier than the previous cl7) it was already 10l/100km. And with a dynamic way of driving, it's more or less 13l/km. Ok with a r18 but not with a k24. Let's be honest

@kacperziajka79206 жыл бұрын
If you want a diesel which is the most economical, go for the older 7th Generation Accord. This Accord in the video has a 2.2 IDTEC which has a DPF and more unneccessary electric stuff that goes wrong. The 7th Gen has a much better, simpler interior and the 2.2 ICTDI engine. Slightly less economical but around 40mpg in town and easily 60 on the motorway. It has no DPF and it's a much simpler, stronger unit. We have one, 155,000 miles and the drivetrain is absolutely bulletproof. Remember, these diesels all have dual mass flywheels which are costly to replace but that, as you may know, is a problem for all large engine diesels.
@kacperziajka79206 жыл бұрын
The 2.2 I-CTDI (Not the DTEC in this video) of the previous generation is utterly bulletproof in my experience and that of many friends. No DPF, no stupid overengineering. Only a good, 2.2 powerful and smooth unit.

To sort out any confusion, the US has a completely different Honda Accord than Europe. The US Accord is a larger midsize sedan, instead of the small sedan that it is in Europe. The European Honda Accord is actually an Acura TSX in the US. It is a more luxurious and higher tech version of the exact car shown in this review. Acura is to Honda what Lexus is to Toyota, or what Infiniti is to Nissan. A luxury branch of the same company. As far as I know, Acuras are only available in North America.

Even mentioning a mondeo or a Passat (golf in a bigger skirt ) in the presence of an accord should be a criminal offence , I bought a mondeo new in 2008 like the drive very much , what I didn’t like was the steering rack failing after 26k , the shock absorbers failing at 32k and the fact it was worth less than a packet of tampons after 4 years ownership . Bought petrol accord new in 2012 and I still have it 2024 ! Not a single solitary issue ! They lift the bonnet once a year at Honda dealer charge me a reasonable price for servicing and off I go , no rattles , no hassle , no problem . Infinitely better made than most and other than a nice Lexus I wouldn’t change for anything else .

Diesel i-Dtec models have serious DPF issues that cost me dearly. At first sign of a blockage ask a mechanic to check the EGR pipe has not cracked, along with the DPF sensor working correctly. Regular oil changes, long drives, and a thermal clean will mitigate these issues. If you're a short journey and town driver stick to a petrol model.

If anyone is considering buying this used, don't. Its a fine car but the one generation older is better. Maybe not looks wise but the 7 generation beats this 8th on power, handling, reliability and ease. Driven both. Mind you, you should try yourselves. The 2.2 I-CTDI is better than this newer ones 2.2 I-DTEC for one simple reason. DPF DOESNT EXIST. Mate has a newer one and he's been in many times to have it done.

Kacper Ziajka but the petrol ones are better than the previous generation and has better fuel consumption. Also it's more refined and comfy to drive on the autobahn
@kacperziajka79207 жыл бұрын
More refined, yes but I have to disagree on the fuel consumption. Our 2.2 I-CTDi can get 50-60mpg on the motorway. I don't know about the 2.4 or even the 2.0 I-VTEC's that it came with. Definitely, however, will agree on the refinement front.
@nkaloyanov6 жыл бұрын
@@kacperziajka7920 Kacper, I think he was talking about Accord 8 petrol models compared to Accord 7 petrol. Of course, you cannot get better mpg on petrol than on diesel. However, buying a used diesel card after EURO 5 I consider as a reckless decision. Unless you plan to drive a bare minimum of 25,000km/y, you're not going to cover the losses. Also, fuel economy is not that huge in city driving, so if more than 60% of your commuting is around town, you'd better consider a petrol option. And this is valid not only for Honda but for any car maker these days :)
