I'm putting this comment here because I struggled for two days trying to remove my crank pulley bolt. HOLY COW! This impact and socket combination and it came off like it was nothing, instantly. I hope this helps someone who got blocked by that damn bolt too! 1. Milwaukee M18 FUEL 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench w/ Friction Ring Kit 2967-22 2. Lisle 77060 17mm Harmonic Balancer Socket

great content all around man! got this job done spread out between two days and it kicked my butt a bit but your video was super helpful. few notes to those that are about to tackle this job: take plenty of before and after pics as you work your way into the timing belt. important ones i can name rn are where your ac compressor (if applicable) and alternator sat on those channels to have an idea of where to set them on reassembly. impact gun and ratcheting wrenches are a must. please listen to maverick on this one! i spent a lot of time fighting those covers because of the leaf spring. it is advised you set your jack stands on the leaf spring mounts (those are honda approved lift points) so the suspension can sag a bit more and not fight you as much. i’ll probably edit this comment when i get home as there’s more but that’s what came to mind!

This is an amazing video and SO helpful. I'm about to tear into it, but I'm terrified of the valve cover. If I leave it on, as you mentioned in one of the comments below, do I still have to loosen it, or can it be done? Thanks so much!

@@GhostSpeedShopBought pick set at o'reilly's and some how got it removed with that 90 degree pick. I tapped it in slightly on one side with a straight pick and was able to pull out the other side with the 90 degree one. Thanks for the advice. First time replacing a timing belt. It definitely needed replacing, the rubber on it seemed brittle.

thank you for this informative video. a couple questions i have: -does putting the alternator belt back on require the same precision as the timing belt? would it be worth marking the belt in the same way? -you mentioned doing a full rotation of the cam shaft after putting on the new belt. however in the video you only rotated it about 90 degrees. am i missing something? thanks again
@rock-canyon-foodscaping5 ай бұрын
also one other thing i didnt catch from the video. in this car you mentioned the alternator belt was too loose. how tight should it be? is this done while putting the alternator tensioner bracket back on?
@GhostSpeedShop5 ай бұрын
Do a full rotation of the timing belt like I state to make sure the valves do not contact the piston. the alternator belt orientation does not matter, I wouldn’t even mark it however as for tightness you should tighten it until pushing in it with one finger from the side creates less than 2mm of movement.
@GhostSpeedShop5 ай бұрын
Yes, you must put the entire alternator assembly back together to tighten the belt.

I did my paint pen markings as showed in the video counted everything double triple quadruple, checked. I replace the timing belt in my paint. Pins marks matched right up, but after I turned it the marks are now off. No slip not turning of anything as the belt went on, any suggestions?
@bikemane45007 ай бұрын
I should also mention everything is turning over smoothly it seems.
@GhostSpeedShop7 ай бұрын
Yes, the marks will be off after the first rotation. That’s why you keep the gears in place while removing the belt.

@GhostSpeedShop9 ай бұрын
You need to use an impact gun. If you use a tool to hold the crank in place you will break the pulley.

Instead of messing with the crank pulley bolt just undo the 4 100mm that hold the fan, then the pulley can be disassembled. Also, you should mention the need to loosen the valve cover bolts before attempting to remove the timing cover.
@GhostSpeedShop Жыл бұрын
You do not have to remove the valve cover to remove the timing cover, it can we reinstalled at an angle. The 4 10mm bolts only remove the tiny fan, they do not separate the pulley. There are 4 different versions of the crank pulley for the Acty, so there’s a chance there’s one out there where that’s possible but not on any that I’ve worked on.
