One year ago I bought an original top case and paid to configure the key into the top case. Now I bought the 2 side bags and found your video. I TOTALLY MADE IT ALL BY MYSELF WITH YOUR VIDEO!! You made it very clear, the demo video, your English is easily understandable. Thank you a lot, I saved 60€ 😂

I'm glad, I'm a warrior against stupid charges for things that should be included. If you buy $1000 worth of bags and hardware the key configuration should be included 😆👍

I have the exact same side panniers, but my OEM top case is much different. The side pannier does not wiggle like yours does. Maybe your bottom slot is not fitted right? The right pannier doesn't hold much and when you stack items in it, they tend to fall out when you open the side panel and it's tricky to close without everything falling out. I use it for keeping things I don't often need to access quickly like tools, rain suit and some camping items. The left pannier has more room and works best if you can find a cooler bag that fits perfectly inside. Then when you stop you can simply remove the bag and take it to a picnic table or up to your hotel room. I Use it mainly for keeping food items and some clothing in a separate bag inside. I wouldn't waste all that pannier space to put a helmet inside, but hey, to each their own choice! After a drop or two, the pannier lid will get out of alignment and will be much harder to properly close. Mine still does, but with stuff in it, has become more difficult and takes some effort.

I have an ST1300 and my only complaint with the luggage system (same as the Africa Twin) is that you can’t have both panniers open at the same time. :). That being said, I agree with the benefit of knowing that if I have the key, the panniers are secure and locked.

Really nice video and well explained. The biggest advantage is not to have any ugly brackets on the bike when the panniers are not mounted. What kind of top case do you have?
@AlbesADV Жыл бұрын
I agree, As a top case I just bolted a light pelican case to the OEM plate, light and small enough to stay on the bike at all times

Does anyone know if there’s a universal type rack for this considering how easy it is to take on and off? For example maybe I could get said rack for my CB 500 X and then be able to swap it between bikes? I feel that would be very, very useful.
@GeeBeeMike Жыл бұрын
Have you got the rubber block that mounts on the pillion footrest bracket the right way round? Mine doesn’t have the retaining screw visible from the outside. Maybe that retaking screw is supposed to be on the inside nearest the wheel? Might be why you have a bit of free play on your side panniers?
@AlbesADV Жыл бұрын
Hi, it is on the inside, the camera was shooting from the opposite side (camera on the left to shoot the right side across the wheel). The rubber stop is somewhat triangular and will not fit any other way. 😀👍

Hi Albe, can you please provide more details on your top box installation? What is the box you are using and did you mount it directly on the AT rear rack or you added an extra rear rack on top of it?

i'm thinking of getting these side panniers as well, as they don't need any carriers or anything like that to attach them to the bike, they just look world class. but - i've already read a lot about problems when there are passengers on board and when i ride with side panniers, there are always two of us (e.g. the legs or feet are up against the panniers and riding along becomes very uncomfortable). what about your experience in this respect? they are certainly ideal for solo use.
@AlbesADV Жыл бұрын
I love the panniers but I do ride solo 99% of the time, the heels of your passenger will touch the panniers for sure, on the other hand most panniers will get in the way, it really becomes a matter of preference
@ktmtuci Жыл бұрын
@@AlbesADV thanks a lot for your qick reply albe, then i will probably use the touratech pannier system, because the carriers are built about 7 cm backwards, which means more space for the passenger's feet ;-)

I am looking at getting these panniers with a 2024 AT. How well does a passenger fit on the bike with the panniers installed? Is there lots of room? Do their legs touch the panniers? Foot room on the Pegs?
@AlbesADV10 ай бұрын
The passenger legs somewhat touch the bags, enough room for feet on the pegs unless you wear a size14 shoe, I'm pretty happy with mine.
