@@danieljohnson8323 HI Daniel, I would say you have an oiling problem, have you changed the oil? cleaned the thimble screen fliter? I suspect and its gotten hot somewhere along its life. best plan is to do a top end rebuild in the near future. keep an eye on the oil level, make sure the top end is getting lubricated.

@@Mrcbuilds thanks for responding. I dug into it more today. My compression was high it was up at 210 cold and 195 hot. I did find the valves seem really tight at tdc and I think I need to look in that direction. I was thinking top end also until I checked the compression. Now I'm not sure. Maybe a sticky valve. It sat for a good amount of time from what I can tell. I did change the oil when I started working on it and cleaned the filter and spring.

Hi Ashton, best option is to find a 200m front end, and swap the whole thing over. A 84 atc200 [ no letter] would also work. Both have a 9 inch wheel, and a more modern shocks. You can swap a 185s and 200s with shock suspension, the trade off is a 8 in front rim with a different bolt pattern. I have not tried it but I have been told a 200x front will also swap. That would get you a skinny front tire and disc brakes. Thanks for watching and subscribing .

I just bought an 84 big red 200es. Noticed it was leaking oil somewhere on the head it was dripping down the front end of the cooling fins and possible ideas where it might be coming from and what's causing it. Any help would be appreciated.
@Mrcbuilds5 ай бұрын
Could be a few place. Get the machine clean then warm it up and watch for a leak. Start at the top like exhaust valve inspection cover it has an oring, the head could be loose or a blown head gasket or the exhaust donut gasket is broken and leaking unburned fuel mixed with oil residue. 1 of those should be your issue.
@Countryboy-20094 күн бұрын
The reason why most of these three wheelers killed people is because of the rider and because of the tire pressure the are supposed to be squishy not hard if they are hard it will bounce really hard on small rocks like pebbles its pretty bad and it says it somewhere to have at least 22 psi in the tire no more then 30 because instead of suspension you use the soft tires as suspension and the soft squishy tires just go over the rocks like ease like in the commercials the old ones the tires are mostly squishy they aren’t flat they are in between flat and hard pls take this info to heart so you don’t flip it or hurt yourself its all in the rider and the tire pressure

I put the project on hold for the past few months and now I am getting nothing when I press the e start button. It worked fine 3 months ago. Bike runs great when I jump the battery or pull start it. Electronics are definitely my weak area and I’m stumped. Headlight works, reverse and neutral lights do not (they used to work fine) could be related. I’m hoping it’s something simple being a complete bike and that function used to work fine. If you have any ideas, I’d love to hear it!

Hey do you think you cold help me I have a 1984 200es that will not spark one bit. I have a good stator. I have a new coil and a new cdi box. I have a new pulse generator coil on the way I was thinking that might be the problem and I also have advanced springs on the way. The same springs you had to replace I had to pay $20.00 because one of them just broke off and was ground into dust. What wiring should I test I just don’t know where to go and really want to get it running
@Mrcbuilds3 жыл бұрын
Happy to help. Thanks for watching. First check the gray wire from the cdi to the connection on the case by the reverse, disconnect it. Then check for spark. Then verify the kill switch on the handle bars is working correctly. In both off positions it grounds the coil, in the run position it is an open circuit. Then check again for spark. Set the gap on the rotor thickness of a business card. Let me know what you find out.

@Mrcbuilds3 жыл бұрын
@@Southern_PowerPro_Wash_LLC hey Jake, you can take the headlight out. That were the main harness meets the handle bar controls. You can disconnect the kill switch and run a continuity to verify it works correctly. Keep in mind that ground flows through it and grounds the coil in the off positions. The circuit is broken in the on position.

Great video and really informative. I just picked up a 1983 200e that's been stored inside for years and everything looks to be intact except the gas tank is dry and has a funny rust in it kind of a frosty rusty look almost. What would you do with something like that? Thanks
@Mrcbuilds2 жыл бұрын
I'd rise the tank with some white vinegar, swish it around if its light surface rust it should come right out. Then fill the tank with non ethanol fuel, keep it full when stored, this will keep it from rusting further.
@birchcreekbandits88742 жыл бұрын
@@Mrcbuilds Thanks for the reply, I did that and it really helped clean a lot of junk out. There are still rusty brown spots and a few spots with heavier rust on them yet on the inside. Should I clean it more like that and if so how much should I do before it's alright to put fuel in it? Thanks
@Mrcbuilds2 жыл бұрын
The viniger etches the metal, so take it easy, I'd say fill it again with the viniger and let it sit over night and more time. Keep an eye on your fuel filter, I think you will be fine, you can run 2 filters if you wanted

Your content is great, I'm a new subscriber! I've got the same bike '84 200es. Question. My spark plugs are fouling and turning flat black, then the bike won't start. Any suggestions on what to repair? Thanks builds!
@Mrcbuilds3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like your carb is running rich screw inward the enrichment screw on the bottom of the card about a half turn, clean the plug and try again. The other cause for a black plug can be weak spark. Test your coil with an ohm meter.

I was running my 83 200e through the woods and it just died on me. It cranks over just fine but not firing now. I just had the carb gone through and ready to ride with a full tank of gas. Do you know what could be going wrong? Thanks
@Mrcbuilds2 жыл бұрын
Back to the basic my friend. Do you have spark? If yes, then its fuel related. I'd change the plug, just to make sure, verify you have spark before you put it in. If you dont have spark check the grounds at the coil. I'd bet you have some rust in your tank. Drop the carb bowl an catch the fuel in it, pour it on a napkin and see if it has rust in it. If so, clean the carb again, and replace your fuel filter.
@birchcreekbandits88742 жыл бұрын
@@Mrcbuilds Yep, it has spark and it fires now. It seems like it's not getting enough fuel. I cranked on it and gave it throttle just enough to get it home. Going to drop the carb bowl tomorrow and check that. Thanks
