Matt, please keep the teardown vidz coming. Sorry for the long winded post... but having opportunity to speak to you is limited. Weirdly, I have a similar life story like yours (your personal QA vid) and enjoy time on my own in my "workshop" My dad was a bastard and cold...but anyways I started from a young age opening stuff "to see how it works". I get super angry/annoyed easily and mechanical work is soothing to me. Thanks for all the hard work posting so many videos. ♥

There is something satisfying about, seeing a better mechanic having the same problems I have had working on stuff.

Your joking aren't you? In part one a screw driver is used to crack open the side cases and who strips down any engine (even a C90) without first cleaning the outside of the engine? A decent mechanic learns these things then applies it to whatever they are working on, a lawn mower engine, bike engine, it doesn't matter.

Really enjoying this hands-on engine stuff Matt The whiteboards ok but for those of us that like visual learning this hits the spot, It doesn't matter its a 90, 500 or 1000 It's the engineering and the principles Great stuff look forward to more

Very advanced technology, looks like the coils are liquid cooled, I was a little surprised to see the flywheel bathing in oil

The rear axle on those old Honda bikes are usually the same thread as the rotor and will work as a puller.

Fuck yeah mate, been waiting for part two. These videos are lovely. I rebuilt a 1990 DT175 a few years ago that I've owned for about 15 years and all Phillips head ignition and clutch cover screws were absolutely rooted. I wish I'd had an impact driver then, it sure beats cutting slots in the heads to use a flat head. Rebuilding a 1994 DT200R at the moment after completely restoring a shagged 2003 WR450F and you bet your left nut I've got an impact driver now.

I'm loving this tear down. Loving the colourful language also. Bellend! LMAO!! I have a Pommy gaming mate in Thailand who uses that term all the time when refering to other players. lol. And from the accent, he comes from your neck of the woods. Keep the great content coming dude.

Could you possibly do a tear down/comparison between the c90 and the Lifan 110cc that was cloned from the c90? It would be interesting to see what of anything they were able to improve, and where they felt they could cheap out without getting caught out the engine just shitting the bed right away way.

I tore the lifan down a few years ago, remember it being mostly similar apart from a different stator setup, different camshaft (didn't have the extend-o-cock thing on it) and had a different chain tensioner from what I can remember

Just kidding but the back of your head or your impact driver always seemed to be in between the camera and the bits that were being worked on. I appreciate that it’s probably a f*ck on trying to film it though.

Operation was a success... The tensioner rod seamed to be at full extension. Does it change the orientation of the pully or does it change how easy/hard it is for the ring to rotate clockwise? Love this new series, I'm looking forward to the time you exclaim "It lives buhahaha"

That CCT seems excessive. Only thing I can think of why it's there is to keep as many parts out of the head as possible, maybe for easier head rebuilds?

would that 8 quid thing you used on the ER5 (e71) have worked instead of the claw puller? decent pullers look expensive. if you should have a puller in your tool box what is the best size for working on bikes?

That flywheel says CT90. Now it makes sense because this isn't actually a C90 engine but a CT90 engine which is very very similar. Austrailians call them postie nikes because the mailmen over there still ride these. I think they only use CT125's now though.

My mate was a biker freak(on a C90), I was a car freak...with no car....so he let me out on it......Forgot to turn the fuel on, ran out at bottom of our local hill. Remembered about 30 minutes later...I was flapping like a 'good 'un' but he was really flapping like a cun7!!! All good in the end...he never let me have a go on his 'Busa.........

great series a coming, i can feel it, get yourself a cheap hand pump sprayer, fill it with kerosene or diesel fuel (cheaper than brake cleaner or degrease, but be sure to clean the sprayers nozzle and /o-rings after use). put the project on an old cardboard box in the driveway, then give it a heavy dousing and some time to soak, and repeat, then blast it with your air compressor to remove the gunk. better for video, better for your hands. you can lay the used box under the fuel of a bon-fire for a starter later on :-) looking forward to seeing the high performance rebuild modifications on the rebuild! could this or something similar be in your future???
