Honda CB 750 Hornet Review, the MT07 Killer???

I bought one 2 months ago and so far I've clocked 1,100 miles. I'm 66 years old and I've been riding for 50 years, always having owned a bike. The power is more than enough for spirited riding, which I do often, on public roads. The bad points about this bike are the lack of a rear hugger to protect the rear suspension, the very short front fender which doesn't protect the engine and radiator from any dirt, no centre stand (which there is on the Transalp) and no provision for bobbins for a paddock stand. The price in the UK is £7,300 on the road. I've added a front fender extender, a rear hugger, a screen and crash protection. I'm 5'9" and it fits me perfectly. Like the bike, I'm not particularly good looking but like the bike I don't have to look at myself - that's everyone else's problem! 😁

I have the white one with sports pack, style pack and SC project exhaust. I put an Evotech tail tidy on it some Puig adjustable levers, Pirelli Angel GT2 tyres and bar end mirrors . It looks a beast now and is so much fun to ride I love it!

I agree with everything you said about the Hornet. My wife got her A license last year and chose the CB750 as her first bike. She‘s totally satisfied with it, and being 168 cm definitely helps with being comfortable on it. I‘m 191 cm tall, and I can’t sit on it without hurting my knees and back. Regarding the design: Honda announced the Hornet 500 and 1000 on EICMA last year, which share some similar design elements. If you like the engine (which is absolutely great IMHO), do yourself a favor and book a test ride with the new XL750 Transalp. Same engine, but extremely comfortable for us taller guys. Not a hardcore ADV, but a great do-it-all bike for everyday riding. One note on the crossplane engine design: this is not new for Honda. The NC700/750 and the Africa Twin also have a CP crankshaft for years. They all sound pretty nice, but I think that Honda has absolutely nailed it with the Hornet. The stock exhaust sounds so damn good! And as you said, the wide power band is amazing. My wife always says it’s a „3rd gear all day“ bike when we’re cruising through the twisties.

Lovely bike. That extra power is noticeable. Think the torque comes in at lower revs on the MT07s though. Still not swapping my MT07 Tracer!

Nice review dude, agreed with you 100%. Having tested this one too I can honestly say that the acceleration in sport mode is ridiculous lol, literally pull your arms off if you don't hold on tight haha. But I can't help to notice you look like a young Matthias Jabs from Scorpions 😉🤘

I had an old 900 daytona and the fuel economy and usable torque meant pull from just 2500 revs like a train but keeping it below 5000 rpm helped fuel economy a lot like around 50mpg on the motorway. A yamaha 600 fazer was fast but did 40 mpg and didnt have the low down torque. Its not about power but enjoying the ride.

I agree, 70 to 100 power is the sweet spot. Not for safety as such, but engagement for street riding. Too powerful when you can’t rev gears out or hit the power band is a little monotonous and not fulfilling. I like working the engine and gear box. Generally, the smaller the engine the lighter weight too.

And with how the speedometer is integrated into the headlight, it will be really difficult to install an after market headlight. I would love if Honda put this Engine in a light scrambler with round headlights or even a sportsbike, like the R7.

I own a 2015 MT07 HO non abs model 179kg wet / 74hp. I've ridden the Hornet nice bike but i still prefer the Yamaha engine 🤔 my pick would be the Suzuki GSX800s

Amazing bike, the suspension is miles ahead of the MT-07. The MT-07 is an awesome bike though, there's a reason it's thé learners bike in Belgium/Netherlands. Now test a street triple if you can, you'll not be disappointed !

You are made for high adventure bikes. I always think, that's a bit high for my 6.2, you would be comfortable. Honda is really good.

Hehe........ das ist irgendwie nun mal kein Beginner bike, bzw. Wenn man von der INT650 kommt, echt ne Waffe. 92PS sind 92PS. Die wird in allen Kanälen über den grünen Klee gelobt und räumt die ersten Plätze ab, so wie früher die MT. Bin zwar 55 aber beginne meine Motorradgeschichte erst, ich fühlte mich damit bestimmt nicht wohl, auch wenns Größentechnisch sicher optimal wäre mit meinen 168cm. Ich brauch was zum Cruisen und es muss für ein Wochenende oder ne Woche auch mal fähig sein, klamotten vernünftig zu transportieren. Find die schon geil, aber dann evtl., wenns naked sein müsste, am Anfang die SV650, die überforderte mich weniger Aber den Spaß, den Du da hattest......😅........ klasse. 👍

Ey super das du das für dich so selbst einschätzen kannst. Viele machen glaube den Fehler das sie ein zu starkes Motorrad passen was gleichzeitig vielleicht auch nicht komplett passt. Bald kommt auch ein Video zur Honda rebel 1100 das könnte dann vielleicht ganz interessant sein ist zwar ein Cruiser aber auch recht nah an nem naked bike

@@FreeMilesMC sortiere eh grad den Markt. im Mai, so mein Ziel, möchte ich gerne mit dem A durch sein, dann kann ich ja auch erst Probefahren. Probe gesessen hab ich schon (INT650, Super Meteor 650, Brixton1200, Sv650, CF Moto 700MT) und die passen soweit alle bei meinen kurzen Beinen. Yamaha XSR700 und Tracer7 will ich auf jeden Fall noch testen, die Yamahas kann man recht einfach tieferlegen und da ich ja auch ne 300er Tricity fahre, wäre das alles am Einfachsten für mich. Die 1100er sprengte sicherlich mein erstes Budget so um die 10k€, am Liebsten weniger 🤗 Aber ich bin aufs Video sehr gespannt 👍👍

Oh, thats great to hear maybe that was the case. That is a tuff question. I honestly don’t know. Ofcourse the bike has more creature comforts than a sports bike. And for me a sports bike would need a little bit different engine characteristics. But for sporty riding on the street and the occasional track day more then enough

If someone had a sports bike I can't see them upgrading to this, it would be a downgrade. However, I'm considering a sports bike to be 150+bhp with a totally different riding position.

You can still have fun on a 72 hp sportsbike, like the R7, if the road is curvy. And you can definitely have fun on a 120 hp 600 cc sportsbike. 150 hp is nice to have though. @@mrcintheuk4641

@@mrcintheuk4641upgrading in seating position. Not looks or power. I think you would want to do more km on the Hornet compared to a sport bike. Coming from someone who owns both. I always put more km on something comfortable.
