HONDA CB1000R Complete Fuel Tank Removal - Neo Cafe

Hi all, welcome back to the Shed.
In this video I completely remove the fuel tank from the HONDA CB1000R Sports Neo Cafe and remove pressure from the fuel line. I wanted to remove the tank to adjust the o2 lambda sensor on my Black Widow full exhaust system and it was a little tight around the gear lever. I couldn't find any videos on this topic so I hope this helps if you own one of these bikes.

Great video. I need to remove my tank to correct a shockingly poor paint job by Honda . The clear coat on the bike is like my daughters water paints at nursery 🤦

@@ShedTorque46 random question - I have small spots of dirt actually inside my tft screen , can’t get to it but it’s annoying me . I presume it’s from condensation , the unit is sealed but not under vacuum. So annoying on a bike with 2k on the clock .

Did you empty the tank before doing the removal?

No Scott no need. Half full. Fuel pump off. Slight dribble from tank.

@@ShedTorque46 Hey Thanks for the reply. And yup, I found out the "hard" way i.e. I didn't wait for a reply..... Hehe... I just followed the instructions you gave and off came the tank about half full and only a couple drops of petrol came out. Pretty cool. I'm putting a new wrap on the tank. I bought it with an all matt black wrap and that is too boring for me. Now it will have a cool Honda design... :D

the fuel pipe conection is less complicated than that , dont take the white clip completely out , lift it to unlock it then squese the sides of the black part with fingers "not pliers" ,, and the connection will spread and pull off ,,it just pushes back on and the white clip pushes in to lock it .

The white clip should be replaced each time as per the handbook advice. I pulled it out for demonstration purposes. The black part as you say take more force than what you make out. I said in the video this is what the handbook says.

@@ShedTorque46 i just had the tank off mine and to be honest honda are having a bit of a giggle with the fast fit connection on the tank ,,, iv worked in a bike shop for years and its normaly a one handed job to remove them on most bikes but MR honda likes to keep us on our toes ,, at least its not NS400 carb stub rubbers lol

my 22 CB1000r leaks at the connection - did it twice now w/ no luck. Thought the white clip fingers were bent but they all go straight thru..I'm ready for a band clamp and a shutoff valve- any suggestions?

Is there any damage to the o ring that's around the lower end of the valve? It shouldn't be leaking if the white clips and o ring are fine.
