Honda CB250 Superdream and 400 Automatic Stator Test

A video on how you can test your stator alternator generator that is fitted to the Honda 250N/T/CM Superdream/Dream also CB/CM 400/450 Automatics, this covers ignition only where the motorcycle has "Lost it's Spark" or does not run properly. Please note, if your stator is showing bad ohms readings then the stator is most likely to be faulty, however if the readings are within specification it does not mean that the stator is not faulty, check out my other video where where I show a stator that has good readings and the stator is faulty. www.bbbikeshop.co.uk

It's the ones that come from the two plastic coils on the main stator assy..

Hello, i watch your video to learn a litle bit about coils, and ignitions, im new on motorcycles, i buy a old cb250n in very bad shape, but... the engine was running. Now after about 6 months repair te bike, this week i was trying to start the bike again and nothing happens, no spark! I dont understand how an engine resting on the ground for about 4 months damage the stator, because i do your test that you show and my white and ground are open, there is no value, all others values are ok, just the white wire to green or ground that are open! Therefore no spark rigth? Im from Portugal, can you repair my part? Thanks

Hi, this is a very common problem with this stator and it does happen when the engine has not been run for a while, all of a sudden, no spark after being stored. It is no problem for me to repair for you, I repair loads of these.

Hello! Do you know what is the difference between a flywheel with p/n 032000-0623 and a 032000-0620? Are they interchangeable? Bike is a swedish Honda CB 250N.

Not sure what the differences are? However I know that flywheel 0620 has 2 "pips" on the outside of the flywheel and a flywheel 0622 has only 1"pip" on the outside, but I am not sure what 0623 is like, interchangeability, not sure on that either? Sorry.

@@bbbikeshop8359 My 0623 also has one tip. I can't find anywhere information about this. There are alot of them 0624 i also found om Ebay.

@@MrLillen81 If your stator external pickup has just one steel insert then I guess the 0623 should be fine to use, it might just be a weight difference, I know the 400s had different weighted flywheels depending on the models.

I'm having a headache of a time trying to get spark on my 79 cb250t , new CDI, coils , spark plugs and battery .....my restoration had come to a halt , I'll replay this video tomorrow and test my pickup and stator at the same time lol

Most likely it will be the stator, it is a very common for these to fail.

I'm told it's always the stator pick up which bolts to the engine outside the flywheel

What do you mean "the stator moves in and out"? Or do you mean the Rotor?

Hi just bought a w reg 400n it had polished casing put on but the shop owner had it checked and tested which stated the high speed coil was dead how much would it cost to get the stator fixed thanks Les

Hi Leslie, the 400N, T and 450DX stators are very different to the 250 and 400 automatics and it is difficult to give an accurate price to repair these as one or more circuits can fail even if it only the High speed problem you are having, best to drop me an email to [e-mail] with a picture of your stator, I can generally work out a cost just by looking at its condition.
