A quick video showing the installation of decat Black Widow downpipes and Akrapovic exhaust on my Honda CBR 600f. Skip to 0:53 seconds to hear the exhaust sound! Took it easy through the tunnel as there was a cop 👮waiting with a speed gun!
I've been wanting to remove the heavy cat and stock downpipes on my Honda CBR 600f 2013 for sometime now. They are super heavy, look awful and really restrictive for the bike. De-catting the bike and installing the Black Widow De cat pipes adds a nice exhaust tone to what was a quiet bike. It's louder, without being crazy. First part of the video is the installation, second part is the sound! Turn up those speakers!!!! I had the brackets welded on to the exhaust headers by a local exhaust maker. I bought the carbon heat shield online.
Next step is to get the bike re-mapped and a power commander installed along with my K&N air filter. Hopefully it should make some power improvements too.
Let me know what you think.

I wish mine had that. Yeah I bet it was good. It's so smooth to ride. No where near as aggressively as my RR and feels a bit sluggish at first in comparison, but with the set up you mentioned, It would be nice to ride. 👌

Have you done a remap on the electronic after the decat? If not, any problems in performance? I am doing the same on mine and I hear a lot of different opinions so will be happy to know your experience. Thanks. The motorcycle is amazing!

@SuggyRacing 4 ай бұрын
Hi. Yes I had it remapped. It's got a dynojet power commander 5 on it after I removed the cat. It does help it to run smoother and adds a bit of power. It mainly helps the performance of how fast it picks up. Without the map it runs, but not that good. You can get away with not doing it, but it definitely helps. 👍

Does this bike have a comfortable seating position? How does this compare to a cbr600rr for example. Sounds good 👍
@SuggyRacing
@SuggyRacing 2 жыл бұрын
I have a 600rr aswell and the 600f is more upright. It's less tiring on the wrists and lower back. The RR is very leant forward and feels like you are sat on top of it, this feels like too are sat lower on it. Hope that makes sense. The seat on this is much bigger than the RR so way more comfy for longer distance. I'd class it as sporty touring bike. It's not totally upright and it's not leant forward like a sport bike, it's in the middle. As a first bike it's great.
@speedyspeedyi
@speedyspeedyi 2 жыл бұрын
I was hoping you'd say that about the seating position as that's what id imagine it would be. Is not my first bike, I've had a couple of sports bikes and am after something comfier and slower where I can go up and down the hearts a bit more on the road without going silly speeds. If I could find a modern inline 4 400cc/500cc sports tourer style I'd be very interested, but most of them are twin cylinders. I'm guessing this is a bit slower than the RR tho so might be worth a test ride.. thanks for the reply 👍
@SuggyRacing
@SuggyRacing 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is a bit slower. It's about 100hp compared to the 116 on the RR. But it's still fun. Even the RR isn't quick for today's standards. It's a nice compromise and I got it for longer rides out and just taking it easy. I don't like riding fast on a road, personally I don't see the point. I try do that on a track. @@gabelfreak9843 I haven't had chance to really try it out that much since I installed them. Mainly because the UK weather turned crap. However, I really don't think it made any negative effects on the bike. It's got the stock air filter in at the mo. I will put the k&n back in when I get the PC. So that should breath a little better. I'm hoping once the PC is in, it will have a few improvements. At the minute the main difference is sound and a bit of weight reduction. By budget, do you mean cutting the cat off and welding a pipe in place? Guess it's doable if you have the skills or know someone. Hi. Thanks for the nice comments. The decat pipes are from a UK based company called Black Widow exhausts. Really awesome sound men. I have the ixil doublegun silencer at the moment on my pc41 and it improves a lot the sound compare to the original silencer for a very low price. But your combo of the Black Widow pipes + Akrapovic silencer is on a whole other soundlevel. Is this the originial Akrapovic silencer for the pc41? And how much € you paid for the Black Widow pipes? I have seen also a awesome combo in youtube what I am thinking about to get. Arrow pipes for the pc41 + sc project silencer. But now I don’t know what I will buy next year, both combos sounds awesome. Do you have any advice for me? :) And I like also very much your belly pan. Hi only just seen this message, sorry for the slow reply. So for the exhaust set up, I bought the Akrapovic slip on exhaust first then added the black widow pipes later. With just the Akrapovic end can it didn't sound much different to the stock exhaust. Your ixil ones will, as they are much louder even without changing the down pipes. There are videos of the arrow down pipes and Akrapovic end can on KZbin and that sounds great too! I think the arrow down pipes would be great! With and arrow end can it would also sound amazing. It just depends how loud you like it. I wanted louder than stock set up, but not crazy loud. For the belly pan, I had this custom welded on to the black widow pipes. It's the reason I went with the widow pipes as they look very much like stock set up, and with the belly pan brackets welded on, its hard to tell that I've changed them. The arrow ones are better made, but they run the other side underneath the bike (on the left of the oil sump), so I couldn't get the brackets welded on. Hope that makes sense? Thanks for the comment 👍

Thank you for your detailled answer. I have now ordered the same akrapovic can like yours for a good price - used one. I don‘t know if you know this already, but the finish/model from the black widow pipes for the pc41 have changed this year and now they look quite the same like the arrow pipes, you can see this also on the official black widow homepage. Now I don‘t know which one I should buy, they look quite the same now, the arrow is about 200-250€ more expensive, of course because arrow is one of the leading brands in this market since long time ago now. Now I have to choose one of them, the black widow has also surely a good quality. I have also found the same heatshild cover on ebay like yours but now it would be useless for me, because the finish of the black widow pipes have changed like the arrow ones and so its not really possible to add the heatshild cover anymore. I have looked now for a other solution and found a belly pan for the cbr pc41, the company‘s name which is producing them is lacomoto from portugal. I think I will order this one, but the only thing I am worry about this is, if it would also fit on the black widow or arrow pipes, because it‘s made for the stock one. I also found a video by some guy in youtube who already have the black widow pipes (old model) with the belly pan from lacomoto and also the same akrapovic silencer like yours. Following I send you the link, what do you say about this? Do you think it would also fit on other pipes? Thank you for your answer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGG6kqWCfpyhe6s

@SuggyRacing 5 жыл бұрын
@@benavente9199 Yeah I saw they had changed when I had a quick look at their site. I think these are copies of the Arrow design, and probably very similar just a little cheaper. I think they may run in the same direction as the Arrow pipes, on the left side of the bike. You could contact the Black Widow team and ask if they have the older ones still at their factory, they were pretty helpful when I called. I know what you mean about the Lacomoto belly pan. My friend thought about doing the same thing and getting this to cover his down pipes (but he also has the old style). I'm not sure if this would fit the newer pipe design, it depends where the belly pan mounts to the bike underneath. I imagine the newer Black Widow design pipes would fit within the Lacomoto belly pan, as they shouldn't sit lower than the oil sump, but I'd double check before buying one (you could call Black Widow to ask them about how they fit to the bike). On that video you sent, it looks like the belly pan bolts to the rear of the bike, near the O2 sensor and towards the front where the oil sight glass is and completely covers the underneath of the bike. Those belly pans do look good! Hope that helps.
