My dream bike as a teenager i bought it like 10 years ago, Its a pure joy to have it, Best looking cbr. Each time im using it people thumb up me and ask me if its the new one ? I use it as a GT bike doing 1000 km + during week end. So reliable, so good looking, soooo powerful and yet easy to use. From 2002, 2nd gear 180km/h top. Whats else.... buy one you wont regret it !

I was about to comment right up to the end when you said you were going to sell it - I love mine and currently do not plan to get rid of it but glad you didn't run into the 2nd/4th gear false neutraling issue that is common with these, this winter I'll have to take the engine out and split the cases. If you're looking for something lighter and to have fun try a supermoto, my 690 has something like a 35" seat height and I'm only 5'6" but it's very manageable since wet weight is only around 340 lbs. Conversely since you're selling this and wanting something a bit softer perhaps try a VFR? If you want a new one you could get an 8th gen, but my 5th gen (oldest of all my bikes) is super super solid, I have way more confidence in its reliability than either the 954 or 690. And it's super comfy, is basically an SUV if you throw a top box on it, while still being sporty enough to have fun in the twisties, and that sound... man IMO it's definitely within the top 5, maybe top 3 of the best sounding motorcycles ever made

I definitely want to get a supermoto at some point, but right now the leading candidate to replace the CBR is the new 2024 Yamaha MT-09 (maybe SP). The biggest thing it's missing is wind protection, although I can add an ugly windscreen, and I'm worried I may miss the extra power, but I really shouldn't need it anyway.

Currently own an 02 since 2020. I enjoy riding it, but i find my 06 R6 more comfortable between the legs. I will keep it for now

You could also save some weight by replacing that giant submarine attached to the side of your bike. Actually..... You should keep it on..... You might get caught needing a place to stay the night.... You could probably seek shelter inside of your exhaust 😂😂😂

Very true! I've kept it stock for the resale value though, same reason it still has the massive rear fender. Plus like you said, I can shelter under it if a storm rolls in 😂

Love this bike, but unsure whether I should buy it 🤔

It definitely depends on what you're looking for, but mine has served me well. You just have to understand the strengths and weaknesses/limitations of an older super sport bike. If that's what you're looking for though, it's a great option

@@David.Wolf.1 I was looking for a bike with no riding assistance and with no major maintenance requirements except the regular liquid changes. I just want to ride it. The cbr954 looks still fancy today and is available for an acceptable price. But 20 years old. Lack of spare parts are an issue. And I assume selling this bike in the future will be a challenge, as more and more people look for ABS equipped bikes and other electronic aids.

If you are young enough to cope with the ergonomics why not get an RC51 Sp1 or SP2? All the fun of a classic Honda and climbing in value every year.

Good thoughts on the drawbacks. Parts availability is definitely something to consider, when I had to replace the brake caliper I had to buy a used one on eBay because Honda doesn't make them anymore. Reselling can also be trickier on an older bike since the market for them can be more niche.

This or a 929rr???
@David.Wolf.1
@David.Wolf.1 3 ай бұрын
The 929rr doesn't have any advantages over the 954rr that I'm aware of. The 954rr was just an improved version of the 929rr, lighter and more powerful, plus a handful of other incremental improvements.
