This was wonderful! My window regulator went this afternoon and I had the same thing - could hear the motor going, but nothing worked. Picked up a regulator and followed your step-by-step instructions... back in business. Thank you so much!

thanks a lot. With the help of your video I fixed mine by myself. Can't find good shops or mechanics these days. I had the exact same problem, the gear cam off the track, and I just dismounted the motor and set the track in the middle and re-coupled the motor and all was good again. So...free fix :)

Doru Mihai I just did the exact same thing right now lol. Free fix. I hope it holds and stays. Have you had any more problems with it ???
@DoruMihai6 жыл бұрын
Billy Blogs not yet, still makes some weird noises sometimes but I don't expect it to fail again under normal use

i did that too at first. but it rolled off the track again. so i just got a tiny blob of weld welded at the last tooth by my mechanic for free and it never rolled off since.

Great video! It really helped my save some money on replacing a bad regulator and broken driver window. Everything seems to be working fine now except for the auto close. When I tap the auto open, the window goes all the way down like it should. However, when I tap the auto close, the window goes all the way up, hits the top and then comes back down leaving about 3-4 inches of gap. If I manually hold it all the way until it closes, it stays closed like it should. Any idea why that might be happening?

over a period of time the motor ends up jumping the last tooth on the regulator due to wear. this happens when the window is rolled down and the motor drives beyond the last tooth on the gear track. Basically the last tooth wears off by micromillimeters which was supposed to stop any further rotation of the motor. And thats why the gear rolls of the track 6:57 . So instead of replacing the regulator, i just got the last tooth welded with a tiny blob of weld by my mechanic for free. and behold.. its fixed for free. lol

I'm thinking my motor is out because when I try to lower the window the button seems like it's passing the electricity to the motor because it clicks, but the window does nothing.

hey man, thanks for the video...i had the same problem and fixed it with your video... I managed to get the honda dealership to print a tsb thats out for this issue...but its only covered if u are under the 3 yr/36,000 miles warranty. [TSB #SB-13-097] I had a question for you...the TSB says to replace the motor AND regulator (for both driver and passenger side regardless of there being a problem) but like you did in the video, I just replaced the regulator and its working fine...im curious how long youve been problem free since you did this repair or if it stopped working again. Thanks.

Do you know if the motors are interchangeable between doors? I want to upgrade my Civic to fully automatic windows, and I would need to have motors with position sensors on all four.
@harleyshellhammer96354 жыл бұрын
Aidan Franits the actual motor bolts onto the door frame of the car. I didn’t have to touch the motor but I don’t see why it would be different on the front doors. The rear doors my need a different type of lift motor since their design is different from the front door.

About the same thing happened to my 2012 civic recently, but I’m not sure if the problem is due because of a bad regulator or bad motor? My power windows obviously won’t work, and the same time; I cannot hear the electric motor running. Does the electric motor still run when you press the up/down switches? I plan to open my door tomorrow up take a look see.
@harleyshellhammer96356 жыл бұрын
Yes, you should still be able to hear the motor. If you don't hear it, then it most likely needs to be replaced, possible along with with the regulator. Otherwise, you can take it to an Auto Parts store, and see if they can get a reading if there motor works or not. You'll have to have the motor accessible for them, but try that. I'd call first to make sure they can and will do this first.

James Tan we paid approx $40+/- for the part. That’s it! Time was the real cost.
