A lot of people never show these things that are very complicated to get right. Glad you're showing all the little issues with "just swapping the dash".

Yep, it's always something. Lots of off camera cursing and second guessing. Eventually you find a path forward and keep pushing through. The full black interior I bought is in much better shape than the original blue interior so I'm hoping I'll actually save myself a bunch of time and money when it comes to putting it back together. Thanks for watching! I can't wait to see your Y49 restore. My first car ever was a 1990 Y49 CRX.

Those rear speaker grilles are worth a ton of money!

And the brackets too! I was lucky to score the whole interior at once.

Thank you so much for this video as well I did the same thing to a dashboard I scored at my local junkyard. Now mine looks fire 🔥 thanks to you 🙌🏾🙏🏾

@@MakeItSohey bro question what was the paint code to that grey you did on the bezel?
@MakeItSo28 күн бұрын
@@miguelvelez4494 oof I'm not sure. I don't think I have the can anymore sorry. But after I shot this video I ended up painting it the same black as the dash. I didn't like the Silver after all.

Well done, I'll be curious how is the paint holding longterm, Might give mine a spraydown eventually, though It'll be hard to find matching tone.

I've heard good things about this paint with proper prep so I'm hopeful.

Do you plan some tricks to prevent rattles? I was thinking smearing some soft sealant on touching surfaces, or use cloth tape.
@MakeItSo10 ай бұрын
That's a good idea. I haven't thought about that till now. The mating surfaces where all the vents connect to the HVAC will be getting new seals that will help. Maybe a rubber washer slipped between the dash and any mounting bolts? I'm planning on doing sound deadening throughout so the more quiet the better!

What sucks is that the bare plastic at the front of the dash next to the windshield often is brittle and cracked (commonly where that VIN plate is). Hard to find a used one not in similar condition. Unless you are lucky to find one from a low mileage, garage-kept EG/EJ Civic.
@MakeItSo23 күн бұрын
Absolutely true. Every time I install or uninstall the dash I expect a new part to break.

@MakeItSo Would be nice if someone makes a carbon fiber overlay that you can glue on with epoxy, not only for better looks, it strengthens it too.

@8:38, did you turn the vent adjuster knob so you spray all sides?
@MakeItSo10 ай бұрын
I did yes! Each coat I turned it so it got full coverage.

Would you sell the clock?

Sure, I guess. Although it's missing the little door button cover. You're probably better off buying a used one on eBay to be honest.
