Honda Civic How To Remove/Install Dash Pannels & Trims

In this video I will show you how to remove & Install all the dash components from a 2017 Honda Civic, 10th Generation. Reason for this video is that you may want to get the garnishes wrapped, painted or just swap them with another models! Hope it's helpful, enjoy!

Wow! This video was SUPER helpful with confirming my suspicion that I don't need to do ANY of this! Thank God, really! I may have to take out the radio and a few of the bottom panels. I'm putting in an entire JBL Club system and I'm going to soundproof the entire car as well. And thank you for easing my mind and confirming that I can leave pretty much the entire dash alone, there's nothing to soundproof!

If you pull the top part of the dashboard (the part he stopped at before putting things back together) there's firewall carpeting there at the top that you should be able to soundproof.

I pulled my phone holder clipped the vent too hard from the center vent. The Vent detached from the dash on the right side of the vent. I can't get the clips to push through the tabs. Do I have to take the whole dash apart to get the clips in the tabs? 2017 Honda Civic. I can provide pics.

To remove the passenger trim vent Do I need to remove the Stereo or just can i take off with some plastic prime tools?

No.you don't need to remove it but you need to pop it, so the 2 bolts, pop the clips, then jist sit the radio there plugged in. Then you'll have enough room to pull the vent out

So my 2016 civic gen 10 suddenly got a smear inside the plastic window covering the speedometer. I have no idea how, but it did. I was hoping to take it out and clean the inside, which lead me to your video. but it is unclear if i get to the point you get to, whether i will be able to clean the inside of the dash console window. Does it pop off or is it fused with the whole dash cluster unit?

Iv actually had to do this a few times at work, it's kinda tricky and you have to be super patient, make sure you disconnect the battery before removing the couplers from the meter or you'll throw communication codes, once you remove the meter from the ip skin your gonna see on the back side all these little tabs that hold the clear lense onto the meter, ( the tabs and lense are one peice) you have to pop them one at a time and try and hold them out as you go along theres probably atleast 20 tabs, once you release them all it will slide off, make sure your cleaning rag is smooth and super clean because it scratches very easy. Hope that helps I wish I could just do it for you LOL

Love this video... great info! Can the passenger side dash be replaced. Previous owner mounted a cell phone holder using 2 sided tape. Tried to remove it and tore the soft touch.

Thank you so much! Unfortunately if the soft touch is damaged you have to replace the whole soft touch skin, so removing all the parts I showed plus the meter, glove box, A pillar garns and the srs air bag bolt & coupler under the glove box assy. Once you get that far there's 12 foundation bolts holding the soft touch to the frame of the IP. Hard to explain over a message but thats a general idea for you

@@stevengould9404 I actually work at the Honda factory in final repair so I know the car from a shell to a complete car! Defiantly helps. I'm actually in Canada, Ontario . I'm not sure about a replacement you'd have to call the dealer and price it i imagine it won't be cheap

Juan Rojas thanks you! I’d suggest removing the glovebox & shining a light up in there take a look wiggle stuff around see if anything loose. Check your foot area floor vents, they can come loose on the blower there just up in behind the centre console, you can see them wiggle them. Then go from there!

@@MiguelMartinez-pn2wu today I finally found the source of my rattle! Mine is a 2018, right hand drive. The rattle was coming from the dashboard, behind the vents, so I believed. Instead it was a vent under my stearing wheel, that blows air where the pedals are. I pulled it and the rattle stoped immediately! Tomorrow morning I was supposed to go to the dealership and they would have torn the dashboard apart😬

On the meter visor you can just pull gently from the side, its 2 pieces. You have to remove the upper meter visor first

Hey bud! Take out the vent garnish & on the back side you'll see the switch, there's a built in clip on the Hazzard switch they are on top and bottom, squeeze both at the same time and push forward! Hope that helps!

That main Allen bolt is lock tight at 49nm, when I remove it for a repair I use a snap on impact gun & it struggles to remove it, there really in there

Hey man, I accidentally dropped something into the third AC vent and it got swallowed inside. (Center Ac-Vent right from the Hazard light signal) This process seems legit and all. But is there a possibility that it will be right where it should be? Behind the vent of course. And not swallowed whole deeper into the car. Hope you can answer soon. Edit: on 7:26 you can see the vent has like a pouch protecting any items from falling inward. Could that be removed and my “object” should be waiting there ??

Thanks! And no doubt that’s always a good thing ;) lol the USB panel, pull both caps out so you have something to grab on to, there should be a little mat in the console in front of it, remove that. Then you’ll see a little slit where you can stick a mini screw driver in, slide it in prying a bit while you pull on the cap, it will pop out it’s held in by clips then there’s 2 couplers on the backside

That hose goes to the ambient air temperature sensor, which is what the climate control system relies on to sense the cabin temperature.
