To complain about grease in the door handles is a bit stupid - you might not like seeing it but it's there for a specific reason, and every single time the car is serviced they should reapply it. Sure it might not affect you but if you ever want to see decent examples around in the future it's little details like this that allow that to happen. After all one of the best ways to keep the cars carbon footprint low is for it to simply exist for longer...

It is actually a testament to how good the car is as a whole. But yes, a little grease should not scare even little girls.

I have had the base model now for 4.500 km. Paid 31.800.- € with pearl effect paint job as option. A comparable VW Golf would cost 10.000.- more. I got one of the few which were on offer - Honda seems to be unhappy with the German/Austrian market and does not supply many. I am really happy with it. In Winter I was driving short distances and the consumption was 6 l/100 km (you may convert if you like). But in town with a warm engine it can do with less than 3 l. Warranty in Austria 10 years!!!! Honda provided fantastic leasing and insurance. Best car deal I ever made.

Nice! I've had mine since 12th of October and have put 25100km on it since then. Sadly in Gibraltar (where I bought my car from), they only have a 3 year warranty. My previous KIA Cee'd had a 7 year warranty. I paid £25995 (~€29100) for the Sport trim in Premium Crystal Blue.

I’ve had mine for a month now and I love it, it’s very quick off the mark and very fuel efficient. I agree with you about the charging mat being slippery but since I have a cover on my phone, it sits perfectly. One correction I’ll make is that the boot mat is an optional extra. Great review.
@flamingspinach
@flamingspinach Жыл бұрын
The 2023 Prius has a great solution to the charging mat slipping problem. The wireless charger is a vertical slot in the center armrest area which you drop your phone into, rather than a horizonal pad you place the phone on. There are spring-loaded calipers inside that adjust to the size of your phone so it doesn't slip forward and backwards either. The only way the phone can be dislodged by the motion of the car is if the car suddenly jolts vertically, and hopefully that's going to be pretty rare since most people aren't going to be driving on really bumpy roads at high speeds.

Have had my Civic for 3 months now....and am seriously impressed. I traded in a 5 yo Golf GTI hoping it would be similar-ish. The Civic is a step change improvement. It feels spacious, swift and sorted. Ergonomically it's well considered, being practical, tactile and stylish. The hybrid set up delivers plenty of speed efficiently, quietly and with refinement. It sort of out-Golfs the Golf. Only grumbles are the over cautious lane departure system (it doesn't like crossing the centre line when you have to avoid parked cars) and the fuel tank could be bigger. Ps. Loved the Civic review/s Rory.

I fully agree with you. I have the Civic e:hev (actually, it's my wife's car) since the 5th May and the only gripes I have with it are: (i) the (very small) tank capacity, because we do plenty of relatively long highway trips with it; (ii) the lane departure system, really intrusive; and (iii) the quite weak FM tuning system, as it easily looses station signal. Other than that it is proving to be a wonderful car, quite refined, spacious and economical (incredibly economical around town) albeit punchy when needed.

Having Honda Civic for two months now, I'd add to the "bads" that infotainment system is very glitchy: many times bluetooth disconnects while speaking, won't recognize my USB drive, etc. Furthermore it would be good to have an option to turn off predictive part of cruise control (as I believe American Civics can). Volume of a fuel tank is a bit too small (40l) - however it'll give you 550-650km range. And after all I'd agree that the road noise is the biggest deficiency. All in all I'm very happy with my Civic (fast, and responsive, while economical; comfy seats and ride even on 18" wheels, I feel safe in it; quite unique car). I'm not quite certain about Civic being expensive car: finding a hatchback with the equivalent power and equipment would probably set you off with even higher price.

Excellent review of an excellent car! Most of the "bad"s didn't seem that bad, to me anyway 😊 I'd add a couple of small blobs (of easily removable, at a later stage) of glue from my glue-gun to either the charging tray surface or the back of my phone to (hopefully) eliminate that sliding around issue. I'd also wipe the excess grease from those nasty areas with a degreaser & cloth before you could say John Travolta 😅

I wish more reviewers would comment on the approach angle of these cars. The front drive cars with their super long front overhang and aggressively styled front bumpers do not give the best approach angle and this can often scrape in multi-level car parks or even some driveways and intersections. Scrapes underneath the bumper don't bother me per se, but it's the thought of potentially misaligning the bumper that concerns me.

Some people mention also poor or adjustable lumbar support of the seats as a drawback. Hopefully the noice insulation will get better with facelift (which Honda improved in several models in the past when post-facelift versions were better). The biggest flaw is however that wagon/tourer version with roof rails does not exist (it is so handy when I travel with my kayak or skis on the roof). When you have to talk about the grease in the door handle to say something less positive about a car... it pretty much says how good the product is. I'm watching the video and feedback-ing at the same time. Fuel economy - I've just done a trip from Madrid to Barcelona in mine and the trip computer was 668.8km and I filled up with 31L of petrol. This was at 110km/h on the motorway. Worked out at 61mpgish. I've covered 25150km since the 12th of October. Speed - I sometimes put my car into sports mode and boot it from traffic lights. I love it. Lights - I do find them perfect for the job. I find multi-beam a little gimmicky. Boot - brilliant size for me. I don't mind opening the boot myself. Practicality could do with a chilled glove box for the chocolate bars haha. Price - I paid £25995 for the Sports trim (all I needed) in Gibraltar. I can't believe how expensive they are in the UK! Charging unit - I agree. I always use Android Auto, so it's plugged in via cable. Road noise - I agree. I've been sat in the CR-V hybrid and it's far quieter due to the tyre profiles. I bet you could reduce the road noise (and improve mpg) by going down to 17-inch or 16-inch wheels. Having more tire sidewall and a slightly lower pressure should cut the noise.

I‘m thankful for every review that points out that putting all your controls into touchscreens and touchsensitive surfaces is utter bs. I‘m glad some manufacturers are jumping off that bandwagon already (Citroën,…).

Im currently driving a 2019 Honda jazz (Honda Fit). With Auto headlights & auto high beam. Generally works very well, but the auto high beam can get confused if the sensor is covered in condensation. Also until v recently (software update?) if I used the high beam manually the auto high beam wouldn’t work until either the car had been switched off and on again or the lights were switched down to side lights and back to Auto….but this has now been resolved. For reference my car is the petrol, not hybrid, no turbo, 1.3 I-VETEC Cvt automatic. Currently maxing out at 51.2mpg average. Was down to 47mpg average for a couple of weeks during the coldest part of winter. Should return to 52mpg+ average once we hit 20c consistently. This is a hilly part of U.K. so if you live in a flat country with similar temperatures, you should get better mpg. Using E10 standard unleaded….these cars are designed to take E5/E10 and the owners manual also says E10+….I’m guessing E15 will work too. The few things I don’t like about it? Paint (it’s metallic dark blue) is poor. You will need to get a spotting in pen for all the stone chips. Paint shows every mark, every imperfection. Very difficult to clean & make look like new. Maybe choose white paint? Climate control is a touch panel unit on mine….if you get the poverty spec trim you get manual air con with rotary dials. Touch screen without any feedback is a hateful design. The ride is bumpy…this is very noticeable on the rough broken roads with potholes everywhere at the moment. On a decent road it’s perfectly acceptable. There’s a few rattles from trim deep within the dashboard. The build quality, fit and finish of interior, isn’t quite as good as a VW Polo of the same age.

UK orders are difficult to acquire due to the parts supply in Japan. Apparently, they've stopped production for the UK spec version until December. Not sure if other countries are affected. USA apparently not affected. Plus, this week they've put the prices up another £1000 🙄

finally for 2025, Canada is getting this Civic hybrid in both sedan and hatch(fast)back configuration, and this may be my next daily driver, to replace my amazing-but-a-little-tight 2014 Mazda3 2.0 6MT hatch. I do find Hondas are a bit ridiculously priced; I really hope we can get a more barebone-spec hatch hybrid but somehow I doubt Honda will do that. I don't mind having exactly zero options related to convenience and drive aiding, which I love to manage myself anyway. With regards to NVH, I'm a Mazda guy so NVH doesn't bother me whatsoever. Price will be the deciding factor with me, as I think I'll very much enjoy the drive, despite resigning my third pedal. I went to a dealer yesterday to sit in both the sedan and hatch; it looks great and simple, more spacious than my compact, but one thing I did notice was how poorly alligned the front passenger door seemed to be with the rear passenger door. There was a very noticeable gap which made me believe the front door was ajar...but it was firmly closed. Maybe the sheetmetal stamping is subpar? These are Allison, ON, Canada-assembled cars. I wonder if other assemblies are better. Also, another big factor is how the steel skirts and rocker panels are covered up with large plastic trim pieces. It looks nice and refined, but they appear to be big traps for salt and humidity... If I go for this car, I'm going to have to disassemble and clean them up before and after each and every winter, making sure there's enough rustproofing covering those semi-consealed steel surfaces...except they're riveted all together with the plastic. Cars in Quebec rust out pretty bad, even when rustproofed, if not cared for. (yes yes...not just Mazdas...).

The main problem with this car at the moment is that it is no longer sold anywhere in the world. Even in Japan where it is produced. This is due to a big problem with the supply of electronic parts for Honda. Some motorcycle models are also concerned. I ordered my Honda civic on December 28, 2022. For the moment it will be delivered at best in May or June 2024.

I have a 2022 civic sport sedan and I love it but 2 major things I don't like are 1- the heater/defrost is very underpowered, on cold winter days in canada it takes forever to defrost the windshield and there are blind spots on the edges that don't defrost at all. 2- the sound system is terrible. There is absolutely no bass and the rear speakers being in the rear door panels is a huge design flaw. They should have been put in the very back by the rear window for better sound.

@@paultasker7788 I can't really say, but the fact that it's essentially a country trait in japanese motor industry, we can safely rule out cutting costs or straight lazyness. Or perhaps they simply don't bother making that much modifications to the versions for Europe and USA. I think customers would care much less about insulation if they used galvanised materials, since japanase cars are notrorious as rust magnets. Today it's still much better than it was before, like 10-15 years ago, don't get me wrong, but it's still subpar to the european competition. But you can't have everything.
