In today's video, I will show you how to install shifter base bushings and shift cable bushings from Acuity Instruments, a Stitch Boot shift boot, and a Raceseng shift knob (including the adapter and collar-retainer hardware).

Thanks! I absolutely enjoy how well the shifter feels with these upgrades. I have no need for an expensive "short throw" shifter assembly. These upgrades provide an OEM+ feel. They eliminate the "sloppiness" of worn-out shifter cable bushings and are very affordable. I would highly recommend the Acuity shifter bushings and a weighted shift knob. It really makes a world of difference 😁👍.

Have you ever lubricated things on the shift path? Cables? Joints? Ect? I would love to find a solid video on what all I should look for.

I personally haven't, but that's only because I haven't had the need to do so. You really shouldn't need to lubricate shift cables (except maybe where they connect to the shift lever). Shift cables should have a protective sleeve. If a cable starts binding, it's possible that the protective sleeve has failed in some manner (at which point replacement is preferred). If you do need to lubricate something though, white lithium grease can usually do the trick (you can find this in a pressurized can at any auto parts store). I'll definitely look into the request and see what I can find that might be useful to share 👍.

Currently, I'm still using Honda OEM Manual Transmission Fluid. I am definitely a fan of Royal Purple, though. If I decide to modify my transmission internals in the future, I will definitely use their fluid. 😁👍

Acuity Instruments offers an actual shifter upgrade that you may want to look into. I don't think you would need the shifter base bushings when you replace the actual shifter... However, you may still want the shifter cable bushings that attach to the transmission 😁👍.

Changing the shift cable bushings and the shifter base bushings helps to eliminate the excessive play / "sloppy" feeling in the shifter when shifting. It's really a "night vs. day" difference, as shifting now feels more "crisp" / precise.

The combination of the shift cable bushings and the shift base bushings is great 👍. They clean up a lot of the "sloppy" play in the OEM shifter and make the shifts feel crisp and more precise. I'd definitely recommend upgrading the shift knob with a weighted option, too. A heavier shift knob helps to make the shifting feel more "effortless." I hope this info helps! 😁 👍

When? I'm not sure... I would love to test one out at some point. However, I'm extremely satisfied with the way these upgrades improve the stock shifter. The shifting feels much more presice & crisp with these shifter upgrades. Right now, I have a Skunk2 camshaft waiting to be installed, so that's going to be my next big project 😁
