Honda cr85 gearbox transmission assembly cr 80. pt10

Checked the gearbox over on the 1985 cr80 before fitting. They are tha same as cr 85 upto 2007 gearbox

Hey, I’m having this weird problem when I put the transmission back in and try to put the case back on, the output shaft has about an 1/8th inch of back and forth play and when I tighten the case ends together the shafts become increasingly more difficult to spin.

Hi there,are you nipping the casez up with a crank puller or a rubber mallet,if your using a rubber mallet check your front sprocket bearing is tight in its hole,i fixed one once and everything was ok till i nipped it together and it was tight and jamming the gears from selecting,i was nipping the cases up with a rubber mallet and the front sprocket bearing was coming out of its groove and jamming everthing up took about 6 times till i seen the bearing had moved along the shaft thats all i think it can be.hope this helps

My 84 cr80r has about a 1/4 ish inch of play in the shaft and I can’t seem to tell why, when it’s pushed as far into the motor as it will go the bike dosnt shift but does perfectly fine when it’s pulled out

Check the front sprocket bearing isnt slippin out of it groove when its back together👍

No but there nearly all the same, done a rm 80 1989.whats up with it like m8

@@2strokemxclassics Yhyh the 80 I believe is the same gearbox mate and it’s jamming up I’ve had it out and in 100xs still doing it it’ll only rotate in neutral and 5th which is really odd I think I’ve got vids up of it probably really quick ones but I can take one for you showing what I mean

Does it rotate before u put the cases together m8, how are u putting the cases back together(rubber mallet) if so. I had a cr 85 and all was good kept locking up wen cases nipped, it was the front sprocket bearing coming out of its groove and jamming the gear box when I malleted cases together
